  1. I believe it´s rather a question of how much spare time you have on your hands, especially with Afrika Korps available in Q4. CMBO is easier to learn, a little easier to master and exploit but I doubt you´ll have enough time to give sufficient attention to all these games this year unless you keep one to fill the gap to the next game. Nevertheless CMBO is a great game and a recommended purchase.
  2. Stupid question deleted. [ March 31, 2003, 01:43 AM: Message edited by: Nolloff ]
  3. I believe that´s related to the fact that Mannheim is darn close to BASF.
  4. There are no mods that change anything but the visuals. Look here CM Mod database There are no Mods which are not recommended. You like them or you don´t
  5. no, it´s not connected to cmmos. They grey parts are the new parts of the model wich only got introduced with 1.02 and no one has yet modded them afaik. [ March 02, 2003, 02:53 AM: Message edited by: Nolloff ]
  6. Bullet Rat and Priest, what about deliberately playing a KV vs. Pz 38 or III PBEM against each other and enlightening the silently weeping majority with some good AARs and advice to show the tactically challenged how it should/can be done? Cheers Nolloff P.S. Maybe you can develop a Matthau/Lemon type of relationship [ February 28, 2003, 03:00 AM: Message edited by: Nolloff ]
  7. Redwolf, did BFC say this? Also: Has there been an official word on the movement order/chance to bog relationship? Some folks claim fast is the way to go while others say hunt if one wants to be on the safer side of things. Cheers Nolloff
  8. As long as the vehicle is not immobile you still have a chance to get out of the mud. For example by deleting the original movement path and trying to reverse instead. Once your vehicle is in immobile status it won´t move again. Nolloff
  9. Enigma, I suggest you do some reading here: Russian battlefield Check out the "in action" and the comparison to German tanks for the IS series. What you´ve heard about the Tiger is mainly a myth. in CMBB open the unit info screen (press Return when having selected a vehicle) and check and compare German armor with penetration values for the Russian tank guns you´ll be facing. This should give you a rough idea about capabilities although even a shell which can´t penetrate might be able to do serious damage by knocking out your gun etc. Nolloff
  10. Lol, I was about to hit the reply button too Kingfish, you have listed me as Matthias in your results for Hosszupalyi. Just to make sure we don´t end up with 73 players in the final count Nolloff
  11. You don´t want a discussion, you want a platform to spread your propaganda. I´m surprised you get it here. Freedom of speech I assume
  12. As for the rules RTFM (eg first post in this thread) [ February 18, 2003, 02:40 AM: Message edited by: Nolloff ]
  13. Have you checked this thread? Some people had the same problem. I was under the impression they finally got it to work. CDV patch
  14. Graniteworm, it sounds as if you´ve not unzipped to the correct directory. If the bmp files got unzipped correctly the must have went somewhere. To find out where I´d do a search for the filenames with the search function of Windows Explorer. If they´re not on your HD they didn´t get extracted. Make sure that when unzipping you´re not using a path information that came with the archive and does not match with your directory structure. It rather sounds as if you´ve not unzipped correctly than a problem with the MOD or bmps. You should also consider that many vehicles have different versions (late, early, winter etc.). So you need to make sure that to see the MOD you´re using exactly the same vehicle version in your scenario you´ve extracted the bmps for. Cheers Nolloff
  15. It´s CombatMission2.exe but that´s the normal exe name and the patch didn´t change anything about the name. In my case the first patch didn´t seem to change the file size and date. Nolloff
  16. I first downloaded the 15MB patch for the German version. It didn´t change the version number to 1.02, had no details about the changes (not during the patch and no readme extracted) and after having a look at my Combat Mission 2 directory I was under the impression that my game executable (CombatMission2.exe in my case) hadn´t gotten updated by the patch but was still dated November 02). Nevertheless I was able to open a 1.02 PBEM file from one of my opponents. I read somewhere that this is not possible with 1.01. To make sure my game is correctly updated I then downloaded the multilingual patch, executed it and both the version number and the executable got updated plus I checked if some of the obvious changes are there (models). I don´t wanna spread any rumours. I can´t confirm that the language specific patch works ok. It could only be the version number counter not getting properly updated. But I can confirm the multilingual does do what it´s supposed to do. Nolloff
  17. "Multilingual" seems to be all languages including German, English etc. If it had only been the version number I wouldn´t have worried but the non multilingual version seems not to have updated my game executable (now dated 24th of Jan). 18. No. The German and English text is the same. The "authorisation" bit made me assume it´s got something to do with security settings.
  19. Yes, I´m in Germany. Try this Gamesweb I get a security warning for a flash installation when the site is loaded but that´s all. I can´t imagine it´s restriced as they have every CDV patch for every country. Nolloff
  20. Maybe your browser settings for security? I have no problems. Just tried opening the link again. Works for me.
  21. I´ve downloaded the bigger multilingual version and it it worked. I´d be careful with the country specific versions and check if the version counter really went to 1.02.
  22. Weird, I patched with the German version but it seems it hasn´t updated my game. Version counter is still at 1.01 and exe timestamp November. But I was able to open a 1.02 PBEM file? Nolloff
