Why does Madmatt hardly post here anymore?
japinard replied to japinard's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Good! Just wanted to make sure everything was ok -
Please let me start by saying I love this game. However I think there is a problem with the AI. Others have seen this a lot, so it's not just me. The AI "most" of the time cannot perform a nice assault with tanks. If there's more than a couple, some of them stop... others must go aroun it. Others go forward and then back etc etc. I apologize, but it makes the AI look pretty pathetic when trying to mount an offensive. I have several scenarios I made as examples (including the tutorial mission that came with the game).

Gary, Incredible job. Thank you! -
Any of you play Stretgeic Command?

Is it at all like the boardgame "Axis and Allies"? -
It got a 90% review in PC Gamer, so I was thinking of checking it out. Any of you play it? If so what do you think of it? [ October 13, 2002, 12:11 PM: Message edited by: japinard ]

WHERE ARE THESE POSTED?
-
The site http://www.combatmission.com/ , which I remember being updated a lot by Madmatt has not been updated in a long time. Reasons I'm asking this question: 1. Is it still going to warehouse mods like it did for CMBO? 2. Is it going to give us lots of in-depth & updated info like it did with CMBO? 3. Am I missing anything at the site, or should I pull it from my "check-every-day" site list?

illo the virus wasn't from my e-mail was it? -
In Juju's readme he states the following: Issues: - * = These German halftrack fitted MG’s are ‘built’ around a rather crude boxy 3D model. They will not look optimal. - ** = Vehicle modders attention: Only part of this texture is used for the MG top. The full texture shares parts of the vehicle itself. Does this mean I shouldn't use these as replacements? Will it make the guns look strange in some circumstances? Thanks Juju or anyone that can answer to this.

I sent them to you. Please tell me you have a legal copy of the game! 5 very hard-working guys made this game, and their livlihood depends on people purchasing this. -
Gary, us CMBB players owe you a debt of gratitude. Your catalogue is absolutely priceless. I think this is potentially the best 3rd party work anyone has done to date (on CMBB), and I'll be using it to make my new scenarios. I know you made the catalogue primarily to help modders, but I am making a scenario featuring the "unique" units of CMBB in a cross-fire, and having every pic of tanks and guns really helps. So, I've been playing CM since the first day it was released in the US. Since then I've been wondering where my ambush defense options went. Finally I broke down and started the tutorials (I had already read and highlighted the first half of the manual), and low and behold there was a wonderful explanation of what to do for defense. So amid the complaints here on the forum, you get another thanks from me for something that works so well. Now, if only FSAA were working with these NVidia drivers, and I could record/save a custom camera view permanently Hehe

I found that when I have more than one set of IE running, or trying to download 2 files at once from his site, the downloads fail. I only was able to download files when I had one copy of IE open, and only tried downloading one file at a time. Hope this helps some of you...
