japinard replied to theDD's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
YEA!! -
Wow you guys did an awesome job!      The AI successfully peformed a delayed flanking maneuver to catch the side of my tanks and took 4 King Tigers out before I could get them into decent cover. I'll blame it on my gawking at the wonderful new models and textures...

Is there a way to show text with FSAA?
japinard replied to japinard's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Yea! I read the patch readme and it said to minimize and re-maximize and this worked. WOOHOO!!!!!! -
(On GeForce4 TI4600) I tried 4x FSAA since the other modes crash the game (which I found on the forum here), and the game looks 1,000x times better... it's gorgeous. But now I can't see text. Anyone have a trick for this (besides going to 30x drivers).

Actually Columbus I have. I know what is involved, and my roll-outs were far more *@#*ing difficult than people having to download a patch on their own. Before I was forced to retire I worked as a systems enginner for CMS Energy, 3rd largest Energy conglomerate in the US with holdings all over the world. AND I was forced to use Lotus Notes/Lotus Mai... when it still sucked. And having to visit 25 cities a month for a rollout is a hell of a lot harder than telling people - download and install. If you've been a Notes person for years (I know your server is Lotus Domino - by the way you know NVidia uses Domino?) - you'd know the crap we had to deal with early on.

A little fun on the Ostfront
japinard replied to BeauCoupDinkyDau's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Hehe juju that made me laugh out loud -
Just downloaded your BA-20 and you've given me a reason to take on Strumtigers with these little guys. Just cause they're so pretty Thanks - it REALLY adds character to the game.

The more I think about this the angrier I get. When I got an extra copy of CMBB I was so worried about Battlefront losing money I offered to ship it back to them at my cost (and I have little money being on permanent disability due to terminal illness) - I never opened it, and I never offered it on eBay. And this is the thanks/support I get from them. [ November 18, 2002, 10:49 AM: Message edited by: japinard ]

Well, the last time I checked I did not buy this game from CDV. I bought it directly from Battlefront. As far as I can see, I believe most people would rather have a patch released first, then add the extras in a second patch. Since I did not buy this from CDV, I do not understand why you feel you can not release the American version of the patch "now" or "when complete", and then the multi-language portions later whenever CDV gets around to it. As far as I can see this is YOUR choice... I don't know how CDV could not allow you to release one patch version they have absolutely nothing to do with. To this end Matt, I have been an active part of Combat Mission since before the original's release (I had to re-register thus the high register # on my ID). I believe I've always been supportive and I have helped sell many copies of CM to my friends for you. We'd just want the fixes in the game we currently play. It's easy for you to sit back and say, "shut up you'll get it when it's done", but then again, you have the fixes on your machine - don't you Matt? Sometimes I think that developers forget how hard it is to be a gamer - checking each day for a long-awaited patch, and being forced to wait, and wait, and wait. Your patch updates talking abou more features being added is nice, but all it does is tell me that things are being delayed again. Sorry for trying to remind you it's difficult to keep waiting.
