  1. Thats great John. Now crank out a fun little story, put it in the briefing, give it a name and get it out to the public. I think CMBB doesn't do those types of scenarios perfectly, but it can't do everything, and we have to stretch are imaginations a little bit all over the game. I've seen them done well before in CMBO and I'm sure we will see some more for CMBB.
  2. You can play a QB with the Unrestricted option on, and win big and not buy a single tank. Sure one player could buy a 1000 points worth of armor, but that doesn't mean he can run all over the battlefield, they still can't hold terrian, and they would have a tough job finding all those Pak-fronts while thier tank commanders are dodging sniper bullets.
  3. The Battle of Kursk is really well done. It does a great job rewriting the true history of the Kursk Operations. Just ten years ago respected authors were saying that 2000 tanks clashed on the fields of Prokhorovka and the Tigers and Panthers slew twice their numbers in enemy T-34s, but they kept coming and begin ramming and fireing at point blank into the German tanks, until they forced the Germans backed to Berlin. Glantz and House to a almost sciencetific job dissecting what really happen in July 1943. All books that write about Kursk now, will site his book as a refrence.
  4. Hats off to Ben Park's Berlin map. I encourage everyone to check it out. It blows away my feeble 2 day attempt. Its really nice, just needs some JgPzIV-75mm70s and some JS-III on the streets.
  5. Mr-Johnson has 2 over at the scenario depot. I believe they are still in the playtesting stages. One is Suomussamli and the other is a related battle on the Raate Road.
  6. Von Lauchert is not the intial debut of the Panthers, its a scenario simulating battles after Von Lauchert ran most of the Panthers into pak-fronts. I could make a scenario simulating their intial attacks but it wouldn't be very fun for the German player. A bunch of Panthers stuck in the mud, driving over lots of AT mines, getting shot from both sides and the front by 57mm and 76mm AT guns while the pioneers trying to clear the mines get smashed by concentrated "Stalin's Organs". If thats your idea of a good time I'll get started on it this week.
  7. Thats great MadMatt, we all thank you, and in 5 diffrent languages. Now how about a link on the top of the Battlefront Forums that takes you directly to the CMHQ Chatroom? Sounds good to me. That way someone who just bought their first BFC product doesn't have to spend a day looking through all the Combat Mission websites before they find the CMHQ, and its chat room.
  8. Its not really AI inactivity that is the problem. SPOILER I thing Berli made that map, and I think he designed it for head to head play, not with the AI attacking the human player. Otherwise he would have placed the soviet troops closer to that ridgeline, so the action would start sooner.
  9. It shows, Berlin looks like you've done nothing but work on that one map since you got your copy of CMBB. Keep up the good work, but I don't know how your map could get any better. And I can't wait to see what you do next. Hats off to you Benpark!
  10. Ben park has done a great job on this map and it shows that he spent a lot of time on it. I just downloaded his second version and its AWESOME. His first one diddn't appeal to me all that much, but this second version is really really nice. Everyone rush over to the Scenario Depot and download this map and give it a review. Lets do a better job of encouraging good designers. Its as good as that Stalingrad map "Holdit", Paul Synnott did for CMBO (which I hope he is converting to CMBB, and quickly). Anyone remember that masterpiece? Would have been great to use in a stratagy metacampaign.
  11. Thats pretty much what I tried to do in my Reichstag scenario. Added some tweaks to it, and I just sent it off. Hope you enjoy it.
  12. Yeah Cornelius Ryan's "The Last Battle" has maybe 2 paragraphs in the whole actually talking about the fighting in downtown Berlin. But I don't know what to give the Germans excatlly. Should the Germans get slaugtered 95% to 5% ever time or should I give them a few weapons to actually make it a fun battle for mutlyplayers. Its tough finding out what the Germans were able to even put into battle around the Reichstag during the last few days. So many units just disappeared. How do you know how well a formation did before they all got buried in a collapesing building. Then the tanks that just took out a building gets wiped out on the next block to a tank. Right now I got it so its winnable from either side if playing the AI. The map covers the eastern part of the Tiergarten, the Reichstag, the Ministry of the Interior(Gestopo HQ), the Moltke Bridge over the Spree River, the Brandenburg Gate and the Kroll Opera house. I'll send you a copy later tonight, I've a couple of changes to make.
  13. Well than I got a scenario for you. "The Last Battle". As the Russians its your job to capture the Moltke bridge, then Gestapo HQ and then you try and assault the Reichstag. How is that for fun? Its coming along pretty well. Just need some playtesters.
  14. Thanks a lot man, because I spent over 8 hours on a Berlin scenario. Its going to be called "The Last Battle" and will cover the area from Moltke Bridge to the Brandenburg gate/Reichstag. So far so good, and your map will help a lot. Not all that much on the internet for downtown Berlin maps.
  15. Thanks again Keith for your wonderful service you provide the entire community.
  16. Its not a bug, thats just a sign that you need a better computer or vidcard if you want to load that many hi-res bmps, and go back and forth to your desktop.
  17. Oh WOW, those are nice. Do all the tanks like that and they will become standard for everyone. Heck I would only play early war battles If I had that modded.
  18. 5 new scenarios and one Operation by Mr-Johnson are now at the Scenario Depot and are in need of playtesting. Including the operation everyone has been waiting for since CMBO, "Death Ride of the Panzers", the famous German attack on Prokhorovka during the fierce battles of Kursk. Take control of the lead Kampfgroup of the II SS panzer Korps and see if you can change history and take the town of Prokhorovka from the Soviet 5th Guards tank army. Or take on the role of Guderian and Hoth in a awesome "what if" battle to see if the Germans can take the Kremlin before the end of 1941. Choose the uber-finns or Soviet troops in 2 battles during the Winter War. "The Battle of Suomussalmi" and "Raate Roadblock". See if you can change history and knock the finns out of the war or hurt the russians even worse then the finns did in real life. Take on the role of either the Soviet or German commander in charge of securing the city of Gronzy in late 1942. Or play "Air Assault" and see if the Germans can cut off the city of Leningrad from any air support in a daring raid behind enemy lines on a very important airbase.
  19. The green and yellows look a little too bright to me, but I'll have to wait and see how they look in game. But other then that they look great and I can't wait to test them out.
  20. I've got 2. Both 1939 Winter war scenarios. Look for them at the Scenario depot soon, they both will need playtesting.. Suomussalmi and Raate Road battles. Suomussalmi is a big one and Raate road is medium sized.
  21. Agree with you on most points, except some special scenarios. I think the new big thing should be operations. Even a short one like 2 15 turn battles would be pretty cool. Yes I do think we need a bunch of good QB maps we can use for head to head. But operations have been refined by BTS to the point where I think operations could become the dominate form of head to head battles.
  22. Good news, you Finns better be ready because I got 2 new Finnish scenarios. Winter War. Suomassumali scenario and a Raate Roade scenario. If you want a jumpstart I'll send you what I got so far so you can install them right away. Muhahhahaha
  23. NO rarity! Unrestricted! Everything evens out in the end. And CMBB really tries to get you to use combined arms, but thats hard to do in smaller battles, when you can only bring one tank, and one crappy tank to the battlefield. Attacking on the eastern front is TOUGH, why make it harder and not let one side have less firepower?
