Those stupid arty observers
Becket replied to Bertram's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Well, I just can't agree that arty has problems. In one of my current PBEMs, both my opponent and I have landed arty on each other in spectacular and effective ways. It's quite satisfying to see a troublesome ATG go poof under a hail of mortar. It's somewhat less satisfying to see your advance stall under a hail of same. I guess it's a question of what you want -- IMO if arty was more effective, it would rule the battlefield, and that's something I don't want to see. -

MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGOTTT!!!!! I've got 13 PBEMs going on right now, and it's hard enough to get turns from you on one game, let alone two! But as I said, once we are done, I shall deign to give you a chance to redeem yourself. -
Note: one thing we lose with this sytem: getting the movie file back quickly. If the first player to see the movie has to plot his orders too, then there will be a substantial delay in many cases before you get the movie file from your opponent. It's a cost benefit analysis -- just wanted to chime in that there would be something lost.

Poor, poor Goodale, you probably don't want to open the next movie file. Seriously. I don't think I've ever wiped 1000 points off the map at one time. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA  Though once we've finished this dance (there's still a long way to go!) we can always try a battle on the awesome Stalingrad QB map. THERE'S a fun attack/defense map. Soddball, you are a sick, sick person. (Edit: I had to take a remedial course in Prepositions.) [ February 05, 2003, 11:14 AM: Message edited by: Becket ] -

That is fantastic news, Mike. Thanks for everything you're doing for the community. -

Dear Master Goodwhale: by now your bleached, beached carcass has seen the hail of TNT I recently provided. Let this serve as both a preview of things to come and a warning of what happens when you provoke me to my worst. Sincerely, Becket. Dear mike the wino: Never bring a gun to a flame fight. I love the smell of flamethrowers in the fog. Sincerely, Becket. Dear SgtGoody: BOOOOOM! Sincerely, Becket. -
And wild cheering was heard all over!!! Thanks, Mike.

Sorry folks, turns were completed but my DSL connection went out. Should be sending out to everyone once it's back on. -

Grrrrrr. DSL went out last night. Turns are in the outbox, if ever it should decide to turn back on.  Pity. I really wanted to see Goodale eat nasty splodey death, too. -

Hehehe. I look forward to hearing what happens. By that, I mean I want to hear weeping and gnashing of teeth from both of you as the TNT wipes the smiles off your faces. -
blitzkrieg operation
Becket replied to eric plays east's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
I'm playing the op as the Soviets via email with a friend new to the game. I gave him +25% for play balance. Man, I'm gonna get creamed. I've never seen that many AFVs in my life. As soon as any ATG opens up, it's targetted by about 6 AFVs and knocked out. -

Ahahahahahahah.   Much TNT was dished out this weekend. My righteous bringers of light and flamey stuff have just made contact with mike the wino's evildoers. And it's only like, Turn 9 or something. Feel the burn, mike. Meanwhile, Master Goodale and I are slinging bitter TNT back and forth. Whose will prove more bitter? I dunno, but I bet the ghosts of those dear departed Ruskie ATG gunners have an opinion. I have, however, lost three cook carriers and the cooks they carried. No soup for you! As for SgtGoody, in Fog Bowl 2 my tanks have spotted his scouts, and miserably failed to land rounds anywhere near them. We promptly executed a few minstrels to make a point. Status: Christmas Battle: Setups traded, good to go. Beast: Setups traded, good to go. Rear Guard: Turn 1 finished. King o' Debrecen: Setup sent, Egbert is out on business but we should get rolling in a few days. The Other One I Can't Remember: No setup received yet. -
German Uniforms for CMMOS.

Oh man, I cannot wait. You rule Mike. Now we need to push Andrew to finish up Soviet winter unis. -
Just select pause after targetting. Instead of the 10 second delay, I believe you get a 1 min delay. Only works during pre-planning though.

'Tis so sad to watch Mister Goodale's wee defense fall so early. And I haven't even chucked the TNT yet, really. -
Is there plans to make a third CM?
Becket replied to jamesroe16's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
One thing I'm hoping for is the ability for users to add units (with models) to the game. I'd like to make a Gear Krieg conversion. (edited because I can't spel.) [ February 02, 2003, 04:03 PM: Message edited by: Becket ] -

Egbert, I sent you a setup for King of Debrecen, but it bounced back. Please let me know what email to use. -

I am stymied by mike the wino's curious strategy of sending emails, but not files. Please do try again with the file. My campers are all out of marshmallows and intend to roast krauts instead. -

mike, you got it. I'll send the scenario out to you momentarily. I think it should be fun, if evil. When you're done, if you wouldn't mind, let me know any problems you encounter. Like I said, I know it's unbalanced, I just don't know how. -

Oh, I've made a little scenario for two friends of mine who are new to the game. If any of ya are interested in taking it for a spin, let me know. I'm fairly sure that it's wholly, utterly unbalanced, I just can't decide which side is the problem. Ah, to hell with it, it has tons of TNT.  Preview pic here for the curious: Scenario Pic -

*manaical laughter* HAHAHAH, the trap is sprung now, Goodale, and your little city, apparently the capital city of Sinkholia, will soon be mine. Oh yes. In other news, to the extent the point of Soddball's little glimpse into hell wasn't obvious, the reinforcements are getting the point across. Now, if'n I'm lucky enough to actually bump into mike the wino's troops (by shear luck, I'm sure) I'll make them pay.
