  1. Yep! At least this "Simpleton" has simply more moral fiber than the last guy in that position, something this whole country/world could use a dose of.
  2. I won't lay claim to "SC Gods" but AA tech advances do not assist field units.
  3. JJ take it easy, the only sarcasm was directed at would be designers for my version of an "Ultimate WG" as a challenge. It was also a prompt to see whether fellow gamers had any interest in this concept. I really did believe your suggestion is valid. It is not in my nature to belittle my fellow humans for their ideas/opinions, on the contrary I embrace different perspectives as I accumulate life's knowledge.
  4. Amen to that JP. Against the AI at +2 exp. on expert is a lost cause, either side. But at +1 expert "very interesting".
  5. What a great idea JerseyJ. That's exactly what we need to produce a true "Battle of the Atlantic". Since we can't have a larger map, why not toggle to other independent maps of the areas that need expanding, which are connected to the overall strategic map. Can you imagine the possabilities, battle resolution within area campaigns. North Africa is opened up as well as the "North" (are you listening CVM). The scale could be down to operational? Wait! Tactical? OMG the ultimate war game CM with SC connection. Oh that's right the designer's can't handle it. WOW! What a dream. Sorry forum didn't mean to fall asleep.
  6. bradtap@aol.com and updating to 1.05/all coutries random/disable undo/i'll need the Siberians. Can probably do a move a day, usually @ night, I'm in CDT. Lookin forward to it, Thanks.
  7. RB sounds like we need a PBEM, I'll take allies and promise I won't use Norse's gamey DoW of Italy. You do know what your are doing, right?
  8. another gamey scenario unveiled, oh well, there are more with their associated counters as well. Congrats Norse, points well taken, at least someone sees the flexibility of SC. Its a game of "What Ifs" in an historical context, simple yet complex.
  9. How do the germans initially get the advantage? By use of MPPs gained early from plunder and applied to tech. Take that away from them. How? Get allied plunder MPPs early/redistribute forces. Think about it, the allies, excluding Russia have 6 airfleets (Malta,French,Homeland, and 3CVs). I've played many scenarios, gamey and otherwise, human and AI as opponents, experimented with all this forum's suggestions plus some, IMO the game is balanced, a little luck is what turns it given 2 equal opponents. Saw "Midway" again last night, Nimitz quote on what Mack would say "Were we just better or were we lucky".
  10. Me thinks the best way is an agreement to use only strategic bombers for ground attack
  11. Nay I say D4, the expense in experience is crucial to unit effectiveness and is more important than the unit strength(1 through 10----15 rating).
  12. Be patient D4. The most successful combats will be with your high readiness/supply/HQ quality support/experienced units. Contemplate your move, be methodical, then act.
  13. I have heard so many very good potential modifications to this game that I believe may cause disasterous results my brain is numbed. Point and counter-point, there is no possible way to really establish which will work and which will not with out actually playing them out. I'm talking about the good recommendations that are viable within this game engine. I suggest that Hubert create a proto SC from our current SC that we may experiment with. Only he knows what is susceptable to variation. This will be the fore runner of SC II which could in deed be the ultimate WW II strategic simulation, easily played and balanced. You see Hubert what you've created, "This is your Life".
  14. Aw Oh! Does this mean the "master" may reveal some of his tricks, or do you only play with FoW on? How interesting that the designer/developer may learn a few things from his pupils. Says something for the future SC.
  15. I/O think of it more as a prestige thing. Are your troops more or less enthusiastic depending on your prior success in combat? Would Patton have been able to influence his soldiers to extra-ordinary efforts if he had constantly lost battles?
  16. Its easy! Yes all of WW II starting out optionally with one of the majors and continuing on through the whole campaign. Upgrading equipment taking your surviving veterans with you as you expand your command. Multi-player/commanders forming higher levels of command through decorations/successes. Expand the game to a division level/further to a strategic map with your input for the next battle location/conquest. Zoom back and forth from tactical level to strategic, micro-managing where you wish, auto-pilot the rest through all the different war mediums, air, naval, subsurface, technology, espionage, etc. Let's don't mess around anymore, create the ultimate wargame. There is enough expertise/tech available and lord knows it will forever be patched/upgraded.
  17. If Rockets had more characteristics indicative of artillery then we would have a new important strategic varient for SC. This is an easy fix and totally within the current SC code. No longer would air fleets be the only medium for creating gaps in continuous defenses.
  18. as daystrom said, it is relatively easy to commit a few naval assets to the demise of the two starting subs in the campaign game. It's a "no brainer". I'm not sure how to fix the pathetic "Battle of the Atlantic". Giving the subs the enhanced ability to evade long enough to get them to air cover/french port, maybe? At best it seems only a diversion for the Royal Navy, and hardly that if they go at the game beginning. We need a representative size ocean.
  19. Agreed Sogard "can & should". Oh contrare respected Gman, there's not a lot the human opponent can do to prevent these tactics in the presently modeled mechanics.
  20. It seems to me that the allies can somewhat offset the axis imbalance by: 1. DOW Ireland, Low Countries, Denmark, Norway*, ie. not all at once 2. Ambush/Invade Italy upon entry. 3. Invasion of Portugal with subsequent withdrawal 4. Blitz the Baltic 5. Remix forces through disbanding of naval assets. Some more ideas? Timing is important.
  21. How do you diminish airpower and not create unbreakable fronts?
  22. 1966 AH's D-day, from many AH games to SPI and then a subscriber to Strategy & Tactics, and on and on till death do us part. (maybe not even then)!
  23. Vote is "Aye". If "Rockets" are artillery then they should be transportable.
  24. It's this simple? With 2 able opponents the one with the most experienced/numbers/first to level 5 air fleets wins, GAME OVER!
  25. Have lost as both sides on expert +2 exp. to AI, all options but war in siberia. Best so far as Allies on expert, +1 exp. to Axis AI was +203. How about win ratings on expert +2 exp. to AI, anyone?
