  1. They both look absolutely great. Release them both when the work is complete. Makjager's JagdPzIV looks great too, but variety is the spice of life, both will find a home on my HD.
  2. Does anyone know where I can find Gordon Molek's JagdPanzerIV AMBUSH pattern mod for CMBO? I seem to have partially removed it from my system (by mistake) . I can't find it on CMHQ or Tom's HQ, or... Does any one know where it might be available for download or would anyone be willing to email it to me??? Thanks in advance.
  3. I suppose it's best to phrase the rule "no heavy AFVs", but anyone who is going to split hairs in that fashion and play a "game of words" is not worth playing a second time in my opinion. A JagdTiger is a heavy tank. Call it a tank, a TD, an AFV, or whatever. Any way you try to "disguise" it... it's a heavy.
  4. Yes, good question. I've been wondering, waiting, hoping....as well. I'm especially looking forward to finding a new summer overcast sky. The stock sky on my machine looks very grainy. [ June 24, 2003, 01:02 PM: Message edited by: Green Hornet ]
  5. Excellent work Mike! As a person who customizes many of the CMMOS mods for personal use, I can appreciate the amount of work that went into this. Thanks for all your work. I'm sure this will make it much easier on the folks that are new to CMMOS.
  6. Yep. I agree with moneymaxx on this one. Full FOW (or EFOW in CMBB) is the best way to go. I just find it more enjoyable to have that added dimension/complexity. Just came off a PBEM game that included an amazing "cat n mouse" game between two AFVs. Full FOW made all the difference. Partial IDs and the units popping in and out of sight made it truly immersive and enjoyable. One man's' opinion.
  7. Excellent. Thanks! This beauty will be in my games first thing when I get home...
  8. I have both games. I play and enjoy both games. Personally, I think it's probably worth it for you to buy CMBB. There are enough good things and it will provide you with enough enjoyment to justify the purchase. At least it did for me. I would suggest to keep one thing in mind, however. CMBB is NOT CMBO only better. CMBB is plays differently. There's a list of things that "bother" me about CMBO but I still have tons of fun with it. CMBB fixed a lot of the things that I found slightly/moderately annoying with CMBO. However, I find that it resulted in the game playing differently and therefore, an adjustment in your play style. You need to be more patient, infantry tactics take longer to execute and are suppressed easier (no more mad infantry rushes into an enemy position), artillery is not as accurate, etc, etc. This translates in to a slower paced game punctuated by periods of high excitement. Some folks find the slower pace less appealing and downright "no fun". Understandably so, depending on what you're looking for. CMBO has it's problems, so does CMBB. Neither is perfect but I find both fun for different reasons.
  9. Interesting... But what do you do about artillery spotters? Does the TacAI autoplot arty strikes for you? Obviously it does for it's own spotters if you're actually playing against the A.I. but in this case don't they just move to the other side of the map getting shot at? Maybe the solution is to just not include arty. Bizarre...and I thought I'd already tried everything with CM
  10. Wonderful job as always, Andrew. Thanks for all your hard work. I know what I'm doing as soon as I get home...
  11. Early congratulations, Andrew!!! Enjoy your new little one once s/he arrives. Thanks for all the CM modding work you've done. These uniforms look terrific. I guess you deserve a break since a newborn child probably ranks higher than CM.... ...but not until you get these Russian uniforms done, of course.
  12. ICM1947, Agreed that in CMBO, troops sometimes tend to try to complete their movement order at all costs in an unrealistic fashion. Most likely, the troops would have stopped to take cover or return fire. To move troops 100 meters from one cover area to another (in CMBO): - If the enemy is in LOS, use always suppressing fire to pin the enemy units before advancing your troops. MG teams, mortars, etc. - You can also use smoke to reduce or take away the enemy's LOS to your troops once they're out in the open. - If there are no visible enemy units in the destination woods, you can still use suppressing fire or smoke if you want to be extra cautious. - To actually move your units, I would use a series of way points alternating between run and sneak or move. For example, plot a run command for 30 meters, then a sneak(or move) command for 2 or 3 meters, run for another 30, sneak(or move) for another 2 or 3, etc. This way, your troops will periodically return fire (during the sneak command) while still advancing at a reasonably quick pace. One guy's opinion.
  13. My signature say it all with respect to my opinion on playing the same type of battle every time using the exact same or similar setups/parameters. Variety is one of CM's strong points.
  14. Okay, even though this thread is growing and many other threads are dealing with the same issues, I hope someone can still give me some advice. I have the same card the user Nick Schieben has ( Asus GE4 Ti4200 ) and I also am having absolutely NO problems with CMBO or CMBB under Win XP (driver version 31.40??). HOWEVER, I recently purchased a new racing game and the game crashes badly. I have not contacted their tech support yet but I'm guessing the first thing they will want me to do is to upgrade my video drivers. So two questions - 1) I'm not entirely confident I of which Nvidia driver version I'm using. I check the version on the drivers and it says "6.13.10.3140". Does that mean I'm running version 31.40 as opposed to the recommneded 30.87 or 41.09? I'm a littel confused because I've read nothing about this version on these forums. 2) What are the chances if I upgrade to the later vid drivers that my CM games will continue to work flawlessly? Sounds like slim to none but I'm a little more optimistic since another user reports no problems with the same card I'm using. Am I pretty much guaranteed to lose a playable CM? Thanks for any help or advice.
  15. PanzerTruppen's and Ed Kinney's ( Tanks_a_lot ) CMBO building mods are also both wonderful. I have all three sets in my CMBO collection.
  16. Looks great, Dressler! Thanks for your work. BO needed a zimmerit verion of the Panther. I'll be adding this to my list of CMBO Panther mods as soon as it's available. Very cool.
  17. Statements like that amaze me. I look at these pictures and think "Awesome". The fact that you modders are so dedicated to detail is incredible. Thanks for the excellent work you do. Looks fantastic!
  18. That's the way to do it, von Khan. A fully modded CMBO is a wonderful site to see and using CMMOS, you can even customize so that each battle looks different. I can't imagine running CMBO with the default graphics anymore. My advice to everyone new to CMBO is to take the time to mod it. You won't regret it.
  19. Shatter, I don't want to pretend to be an expert by any means. My only qualification for being a mod tester is that I modded the daylights out of my CMBO and am in the process of doing the same for CMBB. I can tell you what I think looks good but can't guarantee my opinion is historically accurate. Answers to you questions: I've downloaded version 2 of your PzIVF, but have not yet tried it. You may contact me directly through email (no viruses please ) I have DSL. Large emails should not be a problem.
  20. This is something I haven't done yet (engrossed in playing and haven't gotten a chance to add mods yet) and hadn't thought about. Good point, Mike. I may not be comparing apples to apples, yet. Thanks.
