I've got an NVidia chipset as well and found that after installing Direct X 8.1 I started having problems with my drivers. Updating to the latest NVidia drivers fixed the problems and CMBO works perfectly. A tip that worked for me if you're willing to do it... I reloaded my OS ( Win98SE ), installed all the latest drivers for my hardware including Direct X 8.1. Configured network card, router, etc. so all was working perfectly but no apps or games were installed. I then took a snapshot of my drive using Ghost ( or any other disk clone program ). I called this my "basic configuration". I then installed a few of my favorite games and most used applications. I took a sanpshot of this and called it my "game configuration". Now I can easily go back to either of my known and working "basic" or "game" configuations if my system gets junked up or dirty. It's been working great for me.

Panzer Leader, Panzer76, Thanks for all the good information and tips. I've been out of town for a few days and just logged back on. I figured playing against humans would probably be much more challenging and fun that playing against the AI. It's also nice to hear every tell me that I'll get my butt kicked the first few times I play...that way, if someone knows they're playing a newbie they won't get too mad if I'm "easy pickin's".

Hi everyone. I just joined the forum a few days ago. I Hope this is the best forum to ask this since... I've been playing CMBO for well over a year and have been engrossed in trying all the awaesome mods out there and playing all the custom scenarios everyone creates. However, all my games have been aganist the computer AI. I've never tried PBEM or an IP game. A couple of questions from a multiplayer newbie: 1) Is there a good resource, FAQ, or thread to go to that explains details about how to set up, join, and play PBEM or IP games? 2) Do you guys find playing live opponents so much more challenging that you never really go back to playing against the AI? 3) What's more enjoyable, PBEM or IP games? What are advantages/disadvantages of each? 4) Any advice or warnings about playing mulitplayer games? Any info on any of these questions would be appreciated. Thanks!

I haven't heard anything about a change in the way MGs work in CMBB. Are you allowed to comment how the MGs work differently? Love to hear any details.

Just wanted to say that I've been a CMBO player for over a year. I'm using CMMOS and have tons of mods on my hard drive. I play CMBO whenever I get the chance. I've also been reading posts on this forum for quite a while. When I came across this thread it may me realize that I'm not the only one who thinks this is the best game out there. Period. It's the ONLY game I've purchased in the last three years that I haven't gotten tired of. I find this forum so helpful that I finally decided to register and join. You guys (and gals) are all great. Counting the minutes to Sept 20th...
