  1. With all the grogs here at the Battlefront forums (and after following their discussions over here for a few years I can say for sure that there will be some 'time grogs' around) you have to be way more specific when you say '16:59:59' ....what time zone are you talking off  My bet is: Mon. 28, 16:00 GMT Uwe
  2. Thanks Sneaksie - that makes the wait for the patch waaaaaaay easier. Uwe
  3. Hi Hpt. Lisse - Good to see you back here! Uwe
  4. Damn - I am too slow and the fast Russian has beat my by a few minutes Uwe
  5. Have you tried reading the DVD in another computer or another DVD-drive?? Sounds like a DVD-problem to me. Maybe you can try to read the files on a work PC or at a friends and see if it leads to the same error when reading the file.... Uwe
  6. That would be a major bummer to not have both pieces running under Vista32 at least. Both programms will enhance the value of ToW incredibly. And then leaving the newest 'standard' operating system of the biggest supplier out I hope you can clear this up for us and it is only an incorrect mentioning in the docs. Otherwise: Perfect news with having the patch cleaned of technical issues. Uwe - a Vista32 user with 2 weeks of holiday coming up starting from today with my wife being at work for this two weeks
  7. Or instead of using a random battle generator like in CM, you have to download user made missions. I guess after the release of the quick battle generator they wil start to show up on CMMODS very soon in larger numbers. Uwe
  8. Good info! Is it a rifle battallion from early or from late in the war?? Uwe
  9. I guess you are in the wrong forum But wasn't there a Mac version of CM?? AFAIK there will not be one of ToW at least.... Uwe
  10. I think you can find the most at cmmods. You have to sign in and afterwards you have access of tons of mods and missions for CM and some for ToW. Uwe
  11. The only thing that I had hoped for, but can not find on the list is removing the 360° perfect vision for tanks. Tanks, especially with cupolas had 360°, but for sure with a reduced spotting ability in certain angles, especially when focusing on a target or threat in a different angle. This was discussed already sometimes here on the forum. E.g. after reading in this thread I am under the impression, that it is not too time consuming to fix this issue that is pushing the play experience quite far from a realisitc one. Uwe
  12. Thank you for this list Madmatt. I hope we can figure out soon how all the mentioned changes work out in ToW. One question comes up regarding: What impact does that have on the already released additional modder made missions? Do all the old missions have to be updated or are they still playable - just without the LoS-tool? If NO, can anybody (e.g. the person who actually had build that mission in the first place or even everybody else) update these missions and how high will be the effort for doing so. Uwe
  13. Most of the info I came along so far was on the forum of simhq for general 'turret talk'. Uwe
  14. Than you do not have to apply any patch. Your version is the newest on the market!!! The Battlefront version is still on 1.3.0.56 and the coming patch will bring it to a version higher than yours right now. I assume you will not be able to use the coming patch from Battlefront (1.3.0.56 > x.x.x.x). You will have to wait for the patch to be released from your publisher (1.7.0.68 > x.x.x.x). Is it Kalypso by the way?? That would be the same publisher than in Germany. Uwe
  15. henriksultan, just to make sure.... You bought the game here at the battlefront webside in their store?? Uwe
  16. Happy New Year to all you Battlefronters and 1cers. May the coming year be even more successfull than the past one - and not only for ToW Uwe
  17. What version have you bought (Battlefont version here via download, Russian version, German version...international version???) and what patch have you downloaded?? I assume it is the one here from Battlefront. AFAIK the Battlefront patch works only with the Battlefront version of the game. Maybe you have to check what patch goes with what version of YOUR game. If this mismatch is not the case.... somebody else must help. Happy new year too Uwe
  18. I am definetely there with nashash. I would love the possibility to watch a full battle I have just fought. To watch it from different angles, with FoW off, see close ups of enemy tanks blowing up and my outpost fight brave to the last man. And maybe save it and show it to some buddies - like you guys here Up to a certain degree you can do it with save games and FRAPS, but it is really cumbersome compared to something like the replay function in Il2. Unfortunately Sneaksie had already commented it and stated that it will not be possible to have a replay feature in the current ToW.... Maybe it makes sense when I think of the needed info for a replay of a fight in Il2 (positioning of aircraft, direction, thrust, shooting yes or no...) and the amount of info needed for ToW. Way more actors in the game, way more animations and more possibilities for them... Oh well, maybe in a future ToW2 - or maye not... I would definitely go fo one and would even be willing to wait longer or to pay more for such a feature!! Uwe
  19. WW2Wargamer, while your idea semms to be the best logical solution, Madmatt had stated before that it is unfortunately not that simple to "put out" a patch. Battlefront can not just copy a huge file to a server and will be done with it. He said they have to coordinate the announcements, maybe adds, on the different sites. And biggest of all to have the according bandwith ready with the sites hosting the patch. I assume Battlefront pays $$ for the reservation of 1) a acertain bandwith for 2) a certain time. Now, if you stretch out the time because you release parts of the patch later, you have to reserve the bandwith for longer time..... making the whole thing way more expensive. Sure all depending on the pricing policy of the hosting sites - which we do not know in detail. Again it is my assumption, that it is cheaper to have a certain bandwith for a certain time, than to split the time in two... Uwe
  20. winqvist, thanks for your information about the the Russian small arms and the change (and partly back) from rifles to SMGs. And as Sneaksie commented already - you were right with the statement, that there are too many SMG in the Russian squads. Uwe
  21. ToW is not using the engine of Akrika Korps. Its engine is the one from Il2 Sturmovik. But as you have said it already - try the demo and you will see if the game is something for you.... It should be something for your pc, at least performance wise. Uwe
  22. dito But anyway, thank you Madmatt for the insight info. And one thing in general: I really appreciate the open info Sneaksie is giving us here on the forum. I am fully aware that this is not making your job (as the publisher) easier, but keep it that way, please! I see it with some other games where the information flow from the developer through the publisher (forum) to the customers is more restricted. I definitely prefer your way here at Battlefront. Now and then it leads to some (uhmm) disturbance, but I prefer this ten times over being left out in dark!!! It gives me a warm feeling of being "at home" here with your team. Happy holidays! Uwe
  23. winqvist, it comes down to the same question: What are your sources for your small arms issue? When I just look at the numbers you give (and I do not havy any numbers or sources regarding Russian small arms) you must be right and there are too many automatic weapons on the Russian side. But maybe we have to look deeper than only the production numbers..... A few more questions - maybe you can answer them: What are the production figures by year?? Were all the weapons in the same "production" proportion handed over to frontline units in Europe?? Or were they used during basic training in different production proportions?? Or equipping of troops in the east of the SU with "non" automatic weapons?? Or export of small arms to other countries?? Depending on the experience of Russian commanders after the struggles with Finland and Japan in 39/40 it is not so unlikely that fighting front line troops were prefereably equipped with automatic weapons. But this is just speculation of mine. I got no hard data on the subject. Just some hints were to dig deeper if you do not have some kind of Russian guidelines of how an infantry unit has to be comprised in 41/42/43/44/45. Uwe
  24. IIRC it is only with Vista 64. Vista 32 Home Premium works perfect for me. Uwe
