  1. I've never used Gozilla so I'm not sure what the problem could be, can you try without using a download manager and see if that helps. Hubert
  2. Well I guess that says a lot about what some of you think of my character as well.... thanks. I think it was Brad that wanted to know if I will play the winner of the tourney, well the answer is yes. I'm leaving town for about 5 days but I'll drop in to congradulate the winner when I get back. Good luck and looking forward to the final results. In the spirit of wishing everyone a happy New Year, I just wanted to add that with all the unavoidable uncertainties this turned out to be a very enjoyable year. For a first game I really wasn't sure how things would turn out but I am glad I was able to produce something that many people seem to enjoy and I am looking forward to whatever the future holds. Big thanks to all the extended playtesters from the forums, all the great mods and custom campaigns hosted at the fantastic SCHQ (thanks Otto and CvM), and to Battlefront and the SC community for supporting the game. Have a great New Years! Hubert
  3. Sometimes research advances are slow and can best be judged by playing a number of games over time. Sorry I too cannot answer in kind since I also used a translation services Hope this helps, Hubert
  4. Sure send them to me, there are situations were the Soviet player may not be able to build units depending on how the current status of links between Moscow, Stalingrad and Sverdlovsk are, but I can take a look and tell you exactly what the possible situation is. Hubert
  5. JerseyJohn, Jeff Gilbert, you are both right on the money. The US production issue is an old one, and a tricky one to implement from the game design point of view. This will be something that I will address for SC2, basically to make the economic relationship more clear and flexible, and to deal with the invasion USA issue as well. Problem is, as you can imagine, that there is only so much that can be genuinely considered during the design phase and all points of view and circumstances are difficult to cover with inevitably some being missed entirely. In general, I think the next release will be much better off based on everyone's feedback from SC1. Thanks! Hubert
  6. As far as I know, based on previously implemented corrections to the game, Axis units trapped in Vichy once France surrenders do not dissapear, they should be automatically moved to the nearest Axis city that is land connected to the respective Vichy territory or in the worst case back to Italy itself. If anyone can recreate a repeatable situation where Italian units *dissapear* in this situation, please send me the saved files and I will take a look. Ok it's been a while but from memory... the at start fleet for France represents elements of their active navy during 1939/1940. For the Vichy Fleet I went with ships that played active roles during either the Torch landings or that were scuttled byt the French once the Axis moved in to Vichy. Jean Bart was still under construction and located in North Africa where it was imobilized by the US naval guns during the landings, and the Suffren was scuttled by Vichy at Toulon when Germany took over the rest of France. Great! At the moment if you purchase SC it still comes as v1.0 Hubert
  7. Hans-Micheal, strongly agreed and I too want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Hubert
  8. Well said Bill, for those of you not in the know, I am the SC designer and developer as well as one of the forum moderators. The job of forum moderator is not one that I really enjoy or truly want, but c'est la vie and of course it comes with the territory. I usually hope that things sort themselves out and only step in when I feel it is absolutely necessary, playing the role of forum cop does take away time from better things like enjoying my holidays, thinking about SC2 and programming/development in general so this may be something for everyone to keep in mind as well. These are your forums, enjoy them, treat them and each other with respect and let's get back to the game and it's related material. I think everyone has had their bit of fun, and for the most part the self moderation has served itself well, but I do strongly agree that the time has come to clean things up a bit. Thanks for your time, Hubert
  9. Les, this is the second time I have seen you post this idea and I think you know what category this falls under. To be clear this is something that I strictly do not tolerate and have no patience for on these forums, consider this your fair warning. Hubert
  10. Congrats on the tournament guys! I'm going to be very interested to hear the results on this one Hubert
  11. Coe, Welcome to the forums and very glad to hear you are enjoying the game! Don't let some of these guys scare you off, I think they have just been reading many similar posts for a little too long now as they await the official word on SC2. Unfortunately the wait continues.... Hubert
  12. PBEM is for Play-By-Email and the matches is a new creation by the SC community to create a mini tournament over the holidays which of course all sounds very good to me as I will be very interested to see the victor of this one Hubert
  13. Scorpion_sk, I have to agree with Otto et all and say that this sounds like an interesting campaign, hopefully we'll see this one posted at the SCHQ soon! Hubert
  14. Glad to hear you are enjoying the game but very sorry to hear about the trouble you are experiencing, not sure what could be the problem as it seems to only happen on a few rare systems mostly running ME but in your case also on 98. The game has been tested on all these systems but despite that there is no guarantee for some unique setups that appear to cause this problem. Hubert
  15. If your system supports 1024x768x16 then you should be able to play the game even if you normally run at 800x600 which is probably the case for you as it will automatically switch to the higher resolution at SC run time and then back when you exit. Hubert
  16. Not sure what happened, I would suggest reinstalling v1.06 and taking a closer look at the elite edition graphics mod, usually there are some installation texts that accompy the graphics mods that might give you a safe method for application. Hope this helps, Hubert
  17. With the latest patch (v1.06) I included a User Manual Updates and Errata.txt that includes some of the above requested information under the sub category 'Random Political Triggers and Readiness for War Factors'. I haven't given all the details away but added a bit of info regarding all the Major and Minor players during the war that should flow intuitively based on game play by either the Axis or Allied side and within the respective historical contexts. Note: Not sure what happened for the player that saw Eire join the war effort since this has not been included as a programmed political effect. 18. Although you cannot play SC at 800x600, Win95 does support higher resolutions so my guess is it is either your monitor or video card that is the limiting factor. Hubert
  19. The order is: UK France USA USSR Germany Italy Neutrals Hubert
  20. Good point, it's something to consider for SC2 as well. Hubert
  21. This also sounds like you may have disabled the sound option in the OPTIONS menu screen. I would double check this since even if it is disabled you will hear the intro music as well as button clicks but nothing else. Hope this helps, Hubert
  22. Can't say for sure, but my guess is that the Low Countries went to British control and your French units stationed there surrendered. Free French units are only created if they make it to the UK proper or Egypt. In order to build/operate into the Low Countries you will need an uninterupted land path from any friendly major capital and of course the right amount of supply etc. Hope this helps, Hubert
  23. No easy way other than to remove all the older files or to try one file at a time until you find one that raises an exception. Glad to hear that you are both up and running though and enjoy the PBEM matches! Hubert
