  1. For scenario ideas? I watched one last night, part of it at least, and the Americans were in a standoff with some Iraqi insurgents. When dawn broke and the insurgents attacked the Americans beat them back, then made a counter attack and won the day... ...And there was much rejoicing... So I am assuming some of our talented scenario designers will pick this show apart for some ideas. I know it's in Syria, but I also know there will be plenty of user made 'Iraq' scenarios. I have not been following the show 'Over There' at all so I don't know if it is any good or not, just caught that part of one episode last night, so please save your flames for someone more deserving if the show is, overall, a pile of poop.
  2. The problem with that is that to say 'greatest God' implies that there is another god or gods besides Allah (swt) which is a big no-no to Muslims. Which I am sure you know, but I'm just trying to justify uping my post count. </font>
  3. My guess is some bombs will be dropped on lonely Syrian outposts (aka Jihadist spas) before the end of the year. It needs to happen and probably should have happened a year ago. It is not as if we are going to make the Arab world hate us any more than they already do.
  4. Jason makes some great points in an argument for IED's in urban assault or attack situations.
  5. Understandable. But to play devil's advocate, couldn't the same be said about making a game about Nazi's?

  7. Allahu Akbar means 'God is greater.' edit: oops, already said.
  8. I never mentioned kids. But I don't see what is unrealistic about 'martyr' troops blowing themselves up. It is a reality and it has happened in tactical situations in Iraq.
  9. It would be impossible to correctly model such an engagement without things like this and, sadly, suicide bombers.
  10. I am sure BF.C will model on of the Israeli-Arab wars, personally I'd like either the '73 war or the '48 war...
  11. The US and Allies in such a war as is being depicted in the game would most likely prefer the Israeli's to stay out of the fight unless totally necessary. In the game, there will be Arab and Muslim forces fighting with the Allies, and I seriously doubt any of those nations would team up with Israel in such a circumstance. Israels involvement would totally polarize the campaign. Back in the second gulf war Saddam slammed some SCUDs into Tel Aviv and the US had to ask Israel not to respond, partly because of the opinions the Arab Coalition members (Syria, Egypt, SA, Kuwait, etc) would have to such a retaliation.
  12. Now that I think about it, "Allahu-Akbar" may be the most chilling sound file in any CM game...
  13. Dunno. But don't go to Syria or Iraq, it would be too dangerous or something. Apart from lingvistic faculties (read: expensive), France has a sizeable Syrian minority (hardly surprising). </font>

  15. That will make for some very interesting battles. Jihadists vs. Nationalists and so on.
  16. I was wondering about the martyrs as well. If they are modelled, would they be in a sort of permanent fanatic state? Must have this game.
  17. Egypt would be the best of those listed, I would assume the militaries of the other countries involved would be just too weak to make a decently balanced game.
  18. I guess I missed the CNN report where the US had gone to war with Syria. As always we thank you for your input, but as your IP resolves to the same Frech ISP as 'tenardier', whom I banned only a short while ago, youll understand if we feel that it isnt an entirely objective opinion. 19. "I am the President of Iraq and I am willing to negotiate."
  20. Soon they will be able to fight it out! </font>
  21. Good point about the UN aspect. I would think Syria would have to invade someone to get the full UN treatment. I also wonder about other Arab/Muslim countries siding with the Americans to invade Syria, given the current mood concerning Iraq. And yes, I know that there were several Arab and Muslim countries involved in the first war with Iraq, but at least two of them (coincidentatlly Syria and Egypt) were dead set against attacking into Iraq towards Baghdad in '91.
  22. 'The Jews?' How about the 'Israeli's?' I'm not too into politically correct speech, but come on, that just sounds terrible. Syria is free? Most people you know are terrible, hate filled people if they were 'happy' about the hurricane and they are pretty naive if they have 'big respect' for the insurgency. Calling them Freedom Fighters is akin to calling the Nazi's 'liberators.' So I guess if BF.C wants to tap into the German market they will have to make CM:CB Combat Mission: Car Bombing.(trademark) Lot's of fun to be had driving your fully armed Mujahideen Martyr up to a humvee surrounded by Iraqi kids gathering candy from American soldiers and detonating it, taking out scores of kids to kill one American...
