1. Of course, it will be a LONg time untill the AI will be as good and unpredictable as a human, and playing against a human is certainly fun, but sometimes its ok to just play the CPU, and then it would be nice if it could give me a rael match, and dont do extremly silly stuff.
 2. Hi there! Just played a rather big scenario that comes with the game, "All or Nothing". I played as the Germans (defenders) and real fast I saw what really needs improving, the AI. It really struggels with big maps and lots of units and objectives far from each other. The thing that happend here was just pathetic, the Brits took the first VC and then just did nothing. And there is more, the AI drove the Tanks and vehicles all over the place, into forests, into each other, back and forth, without any logical reason what so ever! The inf wasn't spared either, they came in trickles and was guarding nothing in the middel of nowhere, just stood there. The result was a extremly boring game, and just silly. 10% of the British forces saw any action, the majority was just doing stupid stuff all over the map. I understand that there is a TacAI and a StrAI, but it is obvious that on (ecspecially) big maps it plainly doesn't work. And this should be a worry as the maps in the east can be and usually will be gigger than those in CMBO. Usually I just give the Computer way more forces than I have, but whats the use when it doesn't even use them?! BTS: Have you improved the AI for CMBB? Please say so, or else it will almost be a multiplayer game only. [ April 06, 2002, 11:21 PM: Message edited by: Panzer76 ]
 3. Just a question: I would say that the ATR is a more proberly reason, and when even H. Guderian says so, then I really don't know why we have this discussion?! I mean, is there a more reliable source? What the allies *think* about why the skirts were mounted, isn't of much value, they don't *know*. Guderian *knew*! I could understand the discussion if no reliable german sources existed, but thats not the case. I don't care what any grog says about this, I'll take Guderians word for this anyday over yours! Am I missing something here? (Proberly! )
 4.
quote:
Originally posted by Germanboy: Welcome to the wonderful world of translation My assumption would be that they are talking about Stugs and maybe Marders, depending on when this took place. Who did the translation?

I only borrowed the book, and have now returned it after finishing it, so I can't tell right now.
 5.
quote:
Originally posted by Germanboy: In the Commonwealth almost any non-turreted AFV with a gun was called an SP gun, and some with turrets too. Examples include but are not restricted to:

Yes, but this was several eye witness reports from German soldiers. Certainly the author MAY have replaced the type with just "SP gun" in the translation, but I think that is higly unlikly. These were quotes from diarys, interviews etc. Anyway, in the examples they used them to fight Russian armour (unknown which) and fire at infantery.
 6. On the use of SP guns; I just read a book about Das Reich, and several times it was mention that they used SP guns (but not what type) on attack, this was in the early stages of the war on the Ostfront. Well, not of much use I guess since we don't know what this SP gun was...
 7. Great, informative post Jeff. Thanks! This is an interesting topic, so you grogs just keep up the discussion!
 8. I suggested the same for over a month ago, but there was no response from BST if this was a feature they would look into.
 9. How about if the bunkers where bought with no troops inside, you just bought the bunker. The bunker would have something similar to the "transport class" rating which would indicate how many troops you could place in the bunker. You could then move troops in and out of the bunkers as you saw fit, just as a regual building. This could of course not the enemy do unless the bunker was empty. You could also place guns inside the bunker, but that had to be done in the deployment phase, and you could not remove it afterwards. This would make the use of the bunker a lot more dynamic than the bunkers we have today.

 11. Shouldn't somebody put this tread out of it's misery? I think I can hear it groan in pain...
 12.
quote:
Originally posted by Fixture: Ahh yes, I didn't think about that, Michael. That would be a little intensive, but computers get more powerful every day.

Not these peoples machines!
 13.
quote:
Originally posted by mg42 gunner: This topic is not debating blood in cm but simply asking if a blood mod has been made ? Also looking for a mod tha creates splashes when a shell lands in water.

To answer your question, no, and it will proberly never will either for the simple reason that it can't be done within the games engine right now.
 14.
quote:
Originally posted by Slapdragon: Your handle is not mentioned that I read anywhere.

No, then we can't possible figure out who you were referring to in your own cunning way.
quote:
Originally posted by Slapdragon: Not that I am accuring you of being parnoid or anything .

 15. I guess you are referring to me in your own strange way?
quote:
Originally posted by Slapdragon: and see that the guy who posted a "I hate australlia and everyone is against me even though I am not paranoid" thread thinks I am a nationalist because I defended Australia,

I don't hate Australians or Australia. Nice people and country. I never said you were nationalistic. Sorry to be intruding on your little party here guys, but had to set the record straight.
 16.
quote:
Originally posted by Slapdragon: Boy, I have never attacked you for mispelling (provide a link please if I have attacked anyone for misspelling), so I guess this is just troll trying to add confusion . quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Originally posted by Panzer76: A bit parnoid, are we? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I wish I knew what being parnoid is, I might agree.

Here you make a point of my misspelling, even though it has nothing at all to do with the subject at hand, just so you can try to belittle me.
quote:
Originally posted by Slapdragon: "and personal attacks against me (fun fun fun!!!) left for the school yard or the Peng Thread

quote:
Originally posted by Slapdragon: Idiotic Whiney Leaving the Forum Post

But personal attacks on me is ok, right?
quote:
Originally posted by Slapdragon: conversation or not. I will, however, leave you with a quote from Kwazydog about your behavior here:

And the relevance is?!... He just states that the topic was "hotly debated". As for me leaving, I just couldn't bring myself to shut up when Slappy where being such a hipocrite, just had to point it out.
quote:
Originally posted by Spook: Before you see fit to further get on Slap's case, would you be willing to rebut Clubfoot's points if they were quoted here?

Well, I don't agree with some of the points he makes. I was the first to begin swearing, well if saying "bull****" is swearing, then I did so, but I also apologized for it afterwards and refrained for doing so again. My "Tampa" post was ofcourse a very "hot" topic, bringing to the surface lots of nationalistic feelings. And I guess I could have choosen my wording a bit more carefully. And as a consquence of that I became hugly unpopular with quite a few Aussies, and some others as well. But this has nothing to do with the subject, (as most of the posts on this thread ) and I'm sorry that I made even more OT.
 17.
quote:
Originally posted by Slapdragon: and personal attacks against me (fun fun fun!!!) left for the school yard or the Peng Thread [/QB]

Yeah, or your attack on me (and others) for misspelling, and your constructive opinions as "you are an idiot" etc. I just had to say something here. This has nothing to do with the topic at hand, as so many of the posts in this thread, but this really just shows what a hipocrite (hey, misspelling (?) Slappy, one of your favorite reasons to attack somebody!) you are Slappy! Maybe you should look to yourself before you critize others? I still belive in miracles....
 18. This is my goodbye to this board, as I'm sure some of you would be glad to hear. Before I go I would like to point out that there seems to be an eliteism on this board. Attacking "newbies" for asking "silly" questions and reading stuff into posts or just assume things or jump to conclusions seems to be an everyday occourance at this board. And also name calling. For so many "adult" and "educated" people to behave in this most childish way, is quite remarkable. It seems the "elite" the ones who have been here for a long time, and know alot about WWII and WWII equipment, thinks this board is somehow "theirs". And everyone who either disagree with them or don't do as they say are stupid, and subject to attacks. Well, if you want the CM "familiy" to expand (but I guess you don't), maybe you should try to be a bit more open minded. Its real cheap being though when don't have to actually face the people you are attacking. Tolerance for people who have a member nr below 4000 is a seldom sight. You are like little kid, ganging up on the ones "weaker" than you. And no, this is not because I "lost" the recent argument, it's because of many factors, over a period of time. We've allready lost valuable members because the childish behaviour of some on this board, and if it continous, I bet Im not the last. And I would especially like to point out one, Slapdragon. You Slapdragon have repeatedly abused people. I wonder how big you are in real life. So you may be saying, oh look at him run. He can't defend himself, he just bails out. Yes I can defend myself, but I don't have to put up with the abuse I've been resently exposed to. I have better things to do. When arguments are the like of pointing out spelling errors, name calling and just abuse, its hard to have an proper discussion. The day somone of these guys in question takes selfcritizm, is a remarkable day indead! To the rest of the truly friendly people here, don't let them ruin the strong community here. Try to make a stand when you see someone being abused. You don't have to agree with the person, but no one should be abused for telling their opinion. And all the best to you. And, good luck to BTS, your making a great game, keep it up! PS. Lock this up, quick! PPS. Yeah, bring on the flames, but I don't think you have anything constructive to say. I guess it is just the usual **** throwing.
 19. Yeah yeah, the Americans were great, the british were great and the germans were great. So, can we now all be friends and stop this somewhat stupid discussion? Nation X was better in Y than nation Z discussion seldom provides something interesting other than nationalistic "pride". I think the "author" is quite pleased with the result of his post...
 20. As I know a lot of you don't read the General Forum, please go over there and read the The Tampa - Australia a disgrace for the civilized world! post. I think it's a very serious issue, and people should be aware of it. Panzer
 21. Ok, I don't know how many of you also plays flight - sims, but a demo of the highly anticipated IL2 Sturmovik (Eastern front) has been released. And hey, it even got some beatiful panzers and T34's in there! One of the places you can download it from is from wargamer.com: http://www.wargamer.com/ But, be warned, this game has beatiful graphics, and need a decent machine to run it!
 22.
quote:
Originally posted by Jager: The list would be excellent It would be good to be able to mark the units (in the list) that you have placed on the map. So you'll find the unplaced units fast.

It has been discussed before, and the answer was negative, can't remeber all the arguments though, do a search. As for the drilling bit, yes, COMBAT drilling is a must, where you learn to react fast and efficently to orders, but the thing I was talking about was PARADE drill, which is just silly IMO.
 23.
quote:
Originally posted by CaSCa: presented to you in parade ground precision. The long line would still suffice. In fact I enjoy the surprise of the

On a general note; the stupidest thing you have to learn in the military is parading. The worlds most effiecent army, Israel's, have always focused on practical training instead of "look we can parade right into our death" ****. When thats said, I'm not very impressed by the Israelies right now, but lets NOT get into that discussion, it would be NASTY!
