  1. Ben Goldacre from about April last year I think? If you haven't read Bad Science I can thoroughly recommend it... http://www.badscience.net/2010/04/placebo-nocebo/
  2. The methods used by Anonymous to hack HBGary reveal HBGary as unfit to purvey security advice to any company, let alone the US Government...
  3. My apologies, I'll stop perpetuating what appears to be an urban myth in my gaming community...
  4. FoW is created by 2 guys who used to work for Games Workshop and shows in it's design (imho) it's an attempt to take what works in 40k and put it in a WWII framework. I don't like it at all.....
  5. I played WRG Modern Rules many years ago... http://www.wrg.me.uk/ Click on history of WRG and then scroll down to the link Armour and Infantry 1950-1985 Which seems to have a full pdf of the rules?
  6. Not at all mate... let me have a dig around on the 'geek
  7. David Ford probably gives him a close run for his money (imho!)
  8. You could try http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/24800/conflict-of-heroes-awakening-the-bear-russia-1941 One I've been keeping my eye on?
  9. Haven't clicked yet, but that is the awesome Bill Hicks your linking to right?
  10. Nope, only for the comedy value in the past, Hannity and Colmes are very funny indeed, in the sense that they seem to believe they are shedding light on an issue when they discuss it... He's an ex-Fox weatherman isn't he? Hardly surprising then, that doesn't necessarily make his data inaccurate or incorrect. I believe in UK civil service parlance that's called "Playing the man and not the ball.."
  11. Do you mean "Global Warming" or "Climate Change"? Oh and... Geneva, 20 January 2011 (WMO) – The year 2010 ranked as the warmest year on record, together with 2005 and 1998, according to the World Meteorological Organization. Data received by the WMO show no statistically significant difference between global temperatures in 2010, 2005 and 1998. "In 2010, global average temperature was 0.53°C (0.95°F) above the 1961-90 mean. This value is 0.01°C (0.02°F) above the nominal temperature in 2005, and 0.02°C (0.05°F) above 1998. The difference between the three years is less than the margin of uncertainty (± 0.09°C or ± 0.16°F) in comparing the data. These statistics are based on data sets maintained by the UK Meteorological Office Hadley Centre/Climatic Research Unit (HadCRU), the U.S. National Climatic Data Center (NCDC), and the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)." I haven't got a horse in this race, other than to say that there certainly isn't the concensus amongst the scientific community many would have you believe... For an alternative viewpoint you could read http://wattsupwiththat.com/
  12. "to say EVERY chem trail is poison is of course silly, but to say our government has sprayed poison on us so a chem trail could conceivable be laden with poison is based on our past quite feasible...." Which means the theory is not "true", just (from your perspective) a likely event, you'll note the original title of the article labelled them as "true" and then just walks away from that to discuss "the likelihood" of them being true. For an article discussing "the truth" I'd expect a little more evidence than: 1) Our government has done something similar to (A) before 2) Therefore they are doing (A)
  13. In slightly less vitriolic terms... /signed for truth...
  14. You haven't read The Sun much have you Stalin? Times - for people who think they run the country Telegraph - for people who do run the country Sun - for people who don't give a **** who runs the country as long as they have big tits
  15. Or possibly the critics didn't play it long enough to actually encounter some of the problems the players had?
  16. metacritic is your friend http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/sid-meiers-civilization-v
  17. I believe the best place to start would be the Royal Green Jacket museum (apparently the spiritual home of the Rifle Brigade) There's a research page here and an addy for the curator to contact him. http://www.rgjmuseum.co.uk/research.asp
  18. Yep, I'd recommend contacting the regimental museum. They should have the regimental rolls etc. and probably a copy of his paybook etc. The Rifles seem to have their war diaries online and the originals are at the PRO at Kew. I note you can view the 20th and 21st of August 1918... Their enquiries page is at: https://www.thewardrobe.org.uk/archive.php Edit, that might not be the right rifles actually.. be worth checking out which regiment he was in...sorry! Let us know how you get on!
  19. I disagree, I loved Civ IV and am having a blast on Civ V
  20. Not a problem mate... glad to help out, enjoy the game! I'm a console racer tbh... all my hardcore strategy gaming is done on PC and my lighter gaming such as FIFA, Madden etc, gets done on my XBOX. My driving style is a tribute to the late, great Colin Mcrae.. "If in doubt, flat out..", thus I fail at anything remotely approaching a simulation....
  21. Just a quick update Pandur... There's 3 quick start settings in Multiplayer the longest of which is 20% of a full race. There is also in the menu settings I notice a custom setting session I hadn't seen before, this looks like you *might* be able to set a longer race. I'll check tonight now I have my copy and let you know...
  22. It's a game remember, not a simulation and has to cater for console players mainly. Not everything can be included and what get's left out is usually what appeals least to the majority...
