1. I'd have to agree with you there Jeff. I was using a Celeron 300 but upgraded too a PIII 600. I haven't seen one little bit of difference. I got a greater boost in performance when i went to a 7600rpm HDD.
2. Via the back door is the best option. TD's do the best job from a distance in my opinion. They are not easy to knock out though. If possible just keep them under smoke and assult them from behind. Don't waste artillery trying to knock them out.
3.
quote:
Also I don't think Australia had concription during the WW2,however maybe confusing this fact with the WW1 [ 05-01-2001: Message edited by: goodwood ][/QB]

Well i stand corrected. Thats not the first time i've been wrong. To the best of my knowledge Australia did conscript infantry in WW II. I can gaurantee they did in Vietnam someone please correct one of here Well said Gersen. There are plenty of individual acts of greatness from many different army's. On a whole though the record books show it's hard to go pass an Aussie.
4. I'll have to disagree with your opinion of Australian Infantry Stalin. To my knowledge Australia has never feilded Militia. In WW II we did field conscripts but a militia they where not. I have never heard nor read a single bad remark about Australian Soldiers any where. Off topic here. The Australian Light Horse saved thousands of British and US lives in 1 battle (Bershiba) in WW I. In Vietnam they US asked the Australian SAS to train their own special forces.
5. I like your idea blue. CM is a great engine and is only going to get better. It would be great to see different war's portrayed. I would love to see a hypothitical Warsaw Pact Invasion thru the Fulda Gup against NATO. I know i'm dreaming and to do this would require massive extensions to the game engine to cater for modern weapon systems, also ranges would be alot larger in a modern battle. No more slugging it out from 500 meters. Anyway thats my dream, Bill Gates would proberly bring out a decent operating system before BTS ever bought out such a game
6. US 57mm AT gun. This little bastard knocks one hell of punch is hard to hit especially at ranges. It seems to have extreme accuracy too.
7. You definetley got your name right there "Oddball"
8. Quiet often soldiers where awarded for one particular thing they did. Charging a MG nest recovering fallen comrades etc. Some of these acts only took a few seconds and an average CM battle is 30mins. Why is it unrealistic to have men awarded for acts of bravery? It would have no bearing on the game but would be a much loved feature to have medals warded at the end of a battle.
9. You have really got me interested about what you said Gustav
10. Ok i just came across a bloke in the CMHQ chat room who admitted he has a pirate copy of CMBO. I don't know about you but i payed $115 Australian Dollars to get CMBO and i'm really not keen on this pirate buisness. What can we do with them? Maybe we can use them as target practise for our snipers? Test new Chemical weapons on them? Well i normally wouldn't do anything like this but these people cost you and me money plus rip off BTS which has many consiquences. I got his E-Mail address travispol@aol.com he called him self killer. I also got his IP but i think i'll leave it there
11. Right click, properties on the picture tells you were they are hosted. I think I don't think this one is hosted at Geocities, but i use them, they are great. Freeservers.com is pretty darn good too but they send you stuff occasionally. Geocities doesn't
12.
quote:
Originally posted by Kanonier Reichmann: Would love to know what it would have taken to penetrate that beast from the frontal aspect... a Krupps rail gun perhaps?

I think a 107Kg!!! Shaped Charge shell from the German Kanone would be the only answer
13. I like your signature there Heinz 25th PzReg I've read sections of Sun Tzu but it is pretty heavy reading
14. Well it depends what section of what nations armed forces you are refering too in the treatment of their weapons. The Foreign Legion (Among Many) where renouned for keeping their weapons in A1 order. Though your point is valid that "In General" the Average GI's weapon has a hard life. Well maybe it was just a coincidence that all my and my opponents MG's where jamming in the batlles (in the rain) that we played.
15. Very true. In bolt actions weapons thats not a broblem you simply degrease everything!! take apart the bolt and run solvent through it all. I don't suppose you can do that in Auto weapons though So "Jammin in the rain" is still a mystery.
16. I've altered the colours in Wolf's grass because i thought the same. Mine are still Hi-Contarst because they are based on Wolf's it's just i added some more green in themand gave them a bit more life. This isn't the best shot of it but i haven't been using it long and thats the only screen shot i've got of it.
17. Fair enough. I suppose a gas operated weapon firing at 600-900 Rpm could jam a case in there at some weird angles. Do you have any idea why this would happen more often in the rain? I'm just trying to get an understanding of it.
18. You can get it right here Mr Wolf's Hi-Contrast Lo-Res Hi-Ves fonderful beautiful fantabulous grass mod is available right here Sorry I'm bored
19. Well I'm still wondering why they jam more in the rain. You said they take a while to clear, why is that? I've never cleared a jam in a automatic belt fed weapon. I have cleared plenty of jams in Semi-Auto pistols and rifles. Simply a matter of dropping the mag ejecting or pulling out the case putting the mag back in and re-cocking. All over and done with in max 15 seconds. Care to ilaberate on that?
20. It would be nice. Especially in a nice fine lined small grid. I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard to implement. Well ok I'm not that sure but it Shouldn't be that hard to put into the game.
21. I've played a few TCP/IP games in the rain lately and have had a real problem with my MG's jamming. At times my .50 cals where Jammed for 2 mins!! and my 30. cals where jamming for atleast a minute. Is there a reason why these guns are jamming in the rain? Also does it really take that long for a trained Mg crew to clear a Jam? In one battle my MG's where jammed for atleast 1/3 the battle, they where not under any enemy fire at all.
22. You have both got good points. You don't need many units to act as scouts when you are defending. A unit or 2 with LOS of the most likely lines of attack is about all you need. Something i have started doing on Large maps with a large force is making a couple of light platoons. No Mortars, MG's, Zook's, PIAT's etc. Just 2-3 rifle teams and HQ. Use them as scouts they are fast don't tire quickly and to an extent expendable. Scout cars etc are good for this role aswell but it's hard to sneak a AC over the top of a hill undetected. By stripping the platoon of all it's support units you also end up with a couple of Heavy platoons. Mount them on your Armour or just keep them moving behind your main line and you have alot of firepower when you need it. Anyway i know it's a little off topic and some of you probarly already this. Just thought i'd share it with you.
