  1. Apparently he was nailed by a Predator drone a few days ago. Pres. Obama is going on TV soon to make the official announcement.
  2. http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html
  3. Shift-H. Worked great. I have no idea if this option is in CMBN.
  4. Regardless of what the game is called it covers operations outside Normandy. The modules will reportedly extend it all the way through November. 4km x 4 km is huge, but 2km x 4km is quite reasonable. And frankly I don't think you guys who like little maps suited to a single company have any reason to feel threatened. I suspect there will be more little maps in the game than you are likely to ever have time to play.
  5. I would like to play on maps 4km wide. 4km deep seems a little much, IMO, but to each their own. But if someone makes one I'd be willing to try it in PBEM.
  6. Yeah, we established on the first page that the engine was capable of up to 4km x 4km. Nobody has said they actually wanted maps that big. But maps half that size or even close to it would not be unreasonable. We still don't know how large the biggest QB maps that ship with the game are. As there are reportedly over 300 of them a few big ones would not be too much to ask, IMO.
  7. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the time frame for CMBN goes through the end of August. The Allies had liberated Paris by then, so I don't quite buy the argument that every battle must be in Bocage.
  8. A 4km x 4km would certainly allow for some serious defense-in-depth I would be perfectly happy with 2km x 4km. I just checked and the largest CMBB randomly generated maps were 1.7km x 5.2km. Of course, the largest CMx1 QBs also allowed you to purchase an entire infantry regiment or more.
  9. On a theoretical 4km x 4km map the forces would presumably have setup zones closer together than the map edges. The point isn't to use every square inch of the map, its to give the players options. When I was playing 3000 pt QBs in CMx1 I would average around 1 hour per turn. And I loved it
  10. The further away the map edges are the less of a factor they become. Also, even in WW2 there is some stuff that just works better at range. I seem to recall one of the beta testers (Bil) did a test that showed the Sherman has the edge on the Pz IV up to about 900m. Past that the Pz IV has the advantage.
  11. Correct. You also appear to have purchased the Paradox version, so you'll definitely want to apply this patch (unless you buy a module first).
  12. There's no rule that I'm aware of saying that large maps must be filled with tanks.
  13. CMBN Suggested system requirements: This is 6-year old hardware. IMO the reason for the downsizing of CMx2 has nothing to do with performance concerns and everything to do with keeping it manageable for Real Time players. Which is fine... if you play RT.
  14. I've read that SF actually does run better now than it did on release, performance-wise.
  15. I'm not worried about it. CMSF was released 4 years ago. Moore's Law says the fastest computers are about 4x faster now than they were then. I don't know if the new laptop I'm going to buy will handle a 4km x 4km map with a regiment of troops on it with all graphical details cranked to max, but it will handle a lot more than the 1km x 1km company-sized games I've seen in the previews.
  16. The game engine allows up to 4km x 4km. That has been confirmed. What hasn't been mentioned is what size the maps that come with the game actually are, and what size force you can put on them (I'm thinking QB, obviously).
  17. I'm curious to know how big of a map you get when you select "Huge" size in the QB setup, and how large of a force you can purchase.
  18. Congratulations on your first post, Jigsaw... 5 years after you registered
  19. This is why I never bought SF, and never will. I do look forward to SF2 with a proper QB system.
  20. CMSF ---> Marines: 14 months Marines ---> British: 11 months British ---> NATO: 14 months Average is 13 months.
  21. Currently: Civ 4 with Better AI mod. Electronic crack. Thief 2 CoD Black Ops multiplayer.
  22. Is there any way to make it bigger? I'm looking at it on a laptop at 1920x1080 and it's too small to read.
  23. That is impressive. As I noted earlier, it also has terrain grid that can be toggled on and off.
