  1. Good thread, guys. Rep given. Thank you for your service.
  2. I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 two days ago with no issues. My two ongoing CMBN PBEM games have continued without a hitch. I don't have any other PBEMs at the moment, but CMFI, CMRT, and CMBS all start up with no errors. I don't like the new web browser (Microsoft Edge), but Windows 10 also comes with IE 11 so I just use that. Overall, a very easy, hassle free upgrade that took about an hour.
  3. A surrender is always acceptable, IMO. Most players will accept a Cease Fire, if they believe that the result will be in their favor. I tend to avoid players who insist in fighting to the last man. Very unrealistic, except in certain circumstances. What is unacceptable is abandoning a game. That will get you a bad rep real fast (and get you booted out of some clubs).
  4. @hobo Totally agree. The Stuart is amazing in close in battles. If you're going to be lobbing shells across a big map, not so much. Those two Stuarts I bought in this particular battle have caused more casualties than the four Sherms (three of which are now KO'd and the fourth immobilized). To be fair though, the Sherms were used to initially engage the Tigers. One weakness I've noticed in Stuarts.......it seems like they take a lot of track damage from crossing things like fences and small stone walls. I've accidentally immobilized a Stuart in at least two recent games. In the future, I plan to be more careful. @MOS:96B2P "If you ever want to play against someone who is not as advanced as Doug (and probably not as gamey ) I am also available." Heh, I don't consider myself "advanced" at all. I've just played a lot of games over the past few years and I tend seek out players who are more skilled than I am so I can learn better tactics. One player I always cringe when I start a game with is Simmox (we play together in WeBoB....I think he's also on these forums), because he will beat me three out of four times. Nevertheless, I usually have a game going with him just to keep me humble. Baneman's pretty good also. ;-)
  5. You are missing out on the best part of CM, my friend. Let me know if you would like to try PBEM. Just a fun, friendly game. No AAR/DAR or any of that stuff.
  6. Yep, and I had a very good idea of where they all were. Oppo and I both bum rushed the city from opposite sides. I had (IIRC) something like five Shermans (mixture of 75 and 76mm) and two Stuarts. Oppo had (again IIRC) three Tigers and I haven't seen anything else except infantry and a lot of halftracks. Two Tigers were defanged by gun hits, turning them into rolling machine gun bunkers. The Tiger you saw in my video was the last fully functional one. All my Sherms have been eliminated except for one that was immobilized by a Shrek team and then bailed and mowed down the Shrek team with .45. Hopefully I can get them to rally and man the tank again. They are within spitting distance of one of the defanged Tigers, but it seems to be having difficulty targeting them. My two Stuarts are still fighting the good fight, despite each of them taking one crew casualty. Oppo has one Tiger that has taken several zook hits (you can hear those in the background of my video), yet still seems to be holding on. The infantry battle is going against my oppo, as he was about one turn late to the party and took a lot of casualties while they were still riding in the halftracks. This is a fun map.
  7. First two hits were partial penetrations. Third one was a penetration. Tiger crew bailed, then got nailed by canister shot, as well as a Yank tank crew in the building right beside where the Tiger was parked. On the YouTube videos....to get a bigger video, instead of watching the embedded video, click on the link and you will be taken to the YT page. Mouse over the bottom portion of the video and you will see a Full Screen icon on the bottom. Click that.
  8. Stuarts have been a favorite of mine for a long time now. I love them, especially in city battles. From a PBEM turn I received today. This is a meeting engagement on the Holland "Elst" map.
  9. Pretty much this, for me. The LoS tool basically sucks, IMO. I get down to low camera angles and "bore sight" when I have a question. I don't spend too much time in setup (or ever) using the LoS tool.
  10. Anything that makes Buddy Aid any more complicated than it is now would be a negative for me.
  11. I have a love/hate relationship with them. I love them when I'm Soviets, hate them when I'm Germans. Yep, when playing Germans....keep your distance.
  12. Sorry, I just noticed this question or I would have answered it in my last post. Answer: Sorta. If the person with the 3.0 upgrade wants to make a separate 2.0 install then yes you should be able to play together. With that said, in my experience anyone who is active in multiplayer will, at the least, be upgraded to the latest version (and will probably own all modules, packs, etc.).
  13. That would definitely psych me out.
  14. Playing Russians in Red Thunder? A bit of an anachronism, but this version of Soviet Anthem is my favorite.
  15. Now if you're playing Germany, nothing beats Wagner.
  16. Of course, if you don't have the chops to back up the bravado.....it's all just hot air. ;-)
  17. Half the battle, IMO, of winning PBEMs is convincing your opponent that you hold the upper hand (whether you do or not). One of my favorite tactics is serenading him with a song. Here is an example of what I would send him if I am playing Commonwealth. ;-)
  18. Happy birthday and welcome aboard. The multiplayer community is very active, but you really need to join a club to find the best opponents and get involved in tourneys/ladders. Three of the most active are The Few Good Men, We Band of Brothers, and the Blitz.
  19. And that is exactly what I wanted. Thanks!
  20. I'm not sure where to ask this, so here it is. Most forums that I belong to (actually, all of them except this one), have a "Mark All Forums Read" button that the user can click. The BFC forum doesn't seem to have that feature. Have I somehow missed it?
