  1. Ture Berli, I'm so used to the long flight times now that I'm used to seeing stacked up flights or just long (3hrs) loiters by BUFFs
  2. A couple of things. 1. A BUFF is a B-52 bomber. 2. BAI is a modern term that describes the "shaping of the battlefield". BAI attrits units well before they enter battle, usually 120KM past the Forward line of battle. 3. My comment of dedicated CAS was not from a ground point of view, but from an aircraft sortie point of view. I just haven't come across any reference to pilots being briefed on a dedicated CAS mission. Ex. Forward edge of battle here, expected run in along XXX degree, etc. That is all a fluid situation and required a concept called ON-CALL CAS. Where aircraft sit an loiter in a holding area waiting for instruction to move to an area and contact a Ground (or Air) FAC. WWII aircraft simple did not have the loiter time for that. Again the problem will be the post-war analysis and analyzing WWII CAS using modern day concept. 4. Your list looked good, and I'm not sure Warden's book will apply for your scope. His book expound on strategic implecations not tactical ones. Its almost a throw back to the "bomb the cities and the leadership will cave-in" days after WW1.
  3. The one big problem your going to run up against is the concept of Battlefield Air Interdiction (BAI) and CAS. In WWII, most of the 9th AF sorties would be what we now classify as BAI, but were rolled into a generic "Tactical" catagory. Reading accounts from pilots, convoys, trains, armored columns were the target for most sorties. I can't back this up with numbers, but I truely belive the USAAF did not have a truely dedicated CAS program. It probably was the FAC on the ground calling up and hoping someone would answer, if they did he could then direct attack points, direction, friendly position, etc. All friendly fire incidents I've every read about were BAI sorties where the ground unit was farther forward than expected, or the pilot was lost which I'm willing to bet happend a lot more than is ever reported. The Marines always have and always will excel at CAS because that is a Marine Air Wings primary mission. The Navy and Air Force are tasked Air Superiority, and while the Marines can and do help their priority is Ground support. You thought it was tough then, even with good communications its still rough out there. For goodness sakes BUFFs are pulling CAS duties out there.
  4. A couple of things. The Col John Warden talked about was the head of the Checkerboard group in the Pentegon which developed the basic air campaign model used in Desert Storm. While Col Warden and Gen Horner never hit it off, three of the Lt Cols in Checkerboard were pulled to Horner staff. The name that really comes to mind was Lt Col Deptula, now Lt Gen Deputla, ACC/XO (last I looked). Here is the info on Warden's book. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1583481001/qid=1063317207/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/002-4053931-1500045?v=glance&s=books#product-details Product Info Product Details Paperback: 204 pages ; Dimensions (in inches): 0.65 x 9.01 x 5.99 Publisher: ToExcel; Reprint edition (October 1, 1998) ISBN: 1583481001
  5. Seanachai, I had considered mightly imitating the British, but somehow could quite get the pole up the "backside" as it were, in the proper position. So I settled for bashing the Aussies that were there drinking Fosters. Oh, and eyeballing their women of course, one shouldn't forget eyeballing the fine Aussie "shielas" they brought over with them. I stand ready to continue your pummeling, of course, I no longer have your file but I blame that on you for not resending it. Send away, your dismemberment and humiliation await. [serious]Unfortunately, I was not there for anything remotely fun and games, I was part of a team looking into a friendly fire incident. Nasty stuff really. Although I found out the Brigider General that headed the team has played CM from the beginning, quite a revelation really[/serious] As far as the Aussies go, I realized the Foster's comment would bring out the chest-thumping, bugger-picking sot chanting "Foster's is for export, all I really drink is Pabst Blue Ribbon as that is all I can afford" crowd. Lo and behold Mace drops by. Macey-poo I don't suppose you comprehended the rest of the message and contacted your fellow asylum partner about our game?
  6. Seanachai, My sincerest congrats for your mother, the sheer saintlyness of your mother after dealing with you is truely something to behold. This good news, and the fact that I'm finally back from hell on earth, Berli's mansion the middle east, specifically Al Udied AB, Qatar. Where I found my one-star plays this game and even has a lower forum number than most (three-digits to be believed). This caused me to reexamine the most holy of objects that brings us together, this the huneysuckle dripping from our lips, Combat Mission. I was overcome, weeping with joy that although I may abandone her, she always welcomes me back with open arms. The I remembered you wastes of perfectly good oxygen and I wept again, out of sheer horror of course. On that note, Speedy or some other poor, deluded Aussie who can look up from his Fosters lager and see Speedy email me. I've tried to return files periodically anf they get bounced...email is in my profile, not that I expect any Aussie to read.
  7. Sealion, I find you humorous. Thank you for the entertainment, I was having a bad day and that comment made it all better. Please continue with the vapid opinions, I truly do enjoy that.
  8. Prozac for Mr. Zukkov...prozac for Mr. Zukkov... Here you go we have your room all nice and ready...here just slip on this coat...no it supposed to look backwards, all the rage these days you know....
  9. Here is an all spanish website that has done a lot of modification work for Falcon 4.0 http://www.escuadron111.com/ Given their track record with modding Falcon 4.0 they might be willing and technologically capable of helping this project. They would probably need a list of wav file name/words to be spoken Worth a shot, these are a great bunch of guys. You should see the campaign they put together for Falcon 4.0 IMPRESSIVE (called Red Hot)
  10. Speaking of that, its time to post some more smack on the inability of the Purple Princesses to actually come out and fight like manyly men. Sending tanks to Hungermainia, bah and fey!
  11. HORROR of HORRORS. I will be forced to spend time in Minneapolis. Northwest, in its finite wisdom, is forcing me to lay over for three hours on the 2nd of March and a hellish SIX hours on the 14th. To overcome my loathing of all thing Minnesooootan I will require copious amounts of alcohol and company to drink it with. Email me you cheeseheaded wankers.
  12. What and fighting the purple horde in defense of the Mother Orange is not realistic? BAH! The Onion Wars
  13. In true Pool fashion a long and drawn affair NOT now Bauhaus has come to a close. A fair valley in WESTERN EUROPE was the scene of this titanic battle between the Cheeseburger eating good guys (ME) and the jackbooted Liberty Cabbage eating fasicts Speedy. This battle lasting a good nine months took toil, strife and loathing to a level reached so rarely these days in the pool. No TCP for us, we let the hate and loathing simmer for months as we bashed and grapeled MY GAWD BAUHAUS can't you control that thing! for supremcy. In an obvious display of hacked code I was only awarded a minor victory, despite knocking out all his armor and leaving him only 60 effectives to my 202 and cutting off his only avenue of retreat. Alas, I say to the scoring but Speedy knows deep in his soul that I have his ears. While hate and loathing are destined for Speedy I must admire him for his ability to focus on the files despite my moving, get a new job, and freeze my tushie in the North Dakota winter. An honorable opponent, for although I will enjoy his ears the journey is more satisfying than the finish line. Whenever you desire more hate and loathing send me a setup....oh, that's right I'm crushing you in CMBB as well.
  14. I've noticed that the 15m mark is around the borderline my engineers would NOT throw demo charges. That and the fact they would blow up there comrades is probably the reason. Make a scenario and test it.
  15. I must have recieved a poorly coded, beta version of the game then. All my russian (green) T-34 can't hit the barn, take over a minute to get moving, and are dieing in droves. I get three lined up on a german PzIIIN and all three miss it takes 30 seconds to reload with the turret limitation and the PzIIIN take two shots and backs over the hill. Rinse and repeat. Why don't you try Tiger Tiger as the Ruskies versus a competent Human Opponent. Try Mr. Spkr. He's doing quite well in ours.
  16. I'm pretty sure its associated with CMMC. Try www.cmmc2.org The forums there might be helpful
  17. Case in point. I just had at 45mm ATG take two shots at MrSprk Tiger. After bouncing twice the Tiger turned fired one shell, killed one crew member and put the gun out of action. (Here is the kicker) One second later the crew surrendered. One question for everyone out there. After the crew surrendered it went into FOW disappearance. I no longer could see the unit I had no German icon and no Russian icon, however, MrSpkr's tanks still felt the need to shoot at it and when it moved it would pop back into view. Run a few steps, lie down and disappear. Has anyone else seen this?
  18. I could never seem to find that tidbit on CNN Headlines. Did anyone save, tape or copy that info. If so I would love to see it. Please post (Not sure about the copyright on that) or send to wnetcher@min.midco.net I will thank anyone in advance.
  19. I see you've managed to drag your poor "hurtin'" back to the forum again, but apparently can't be bothered with ACTUALLY RETURNING A FILE. Remember, the taunt is effective, but the game is what the cess lives for. Now send a file, gnome!
  20. Seanachai you blithering old fool. I see that you've lost yourself in the rancid, porn based Harry Potter stars. I once looked up your visage with awe. Ok, not really, but at least with some respect...No? Well, I didn't think of you as a Minnesota coward now, eh? You who desire hatred, yet return none. You who wish personalized letters of bile, yet do not deign to return files. FIE, I say you, FIE! Stop that meaninless, meandering of the internet and start to return files. The Cossacks are at the crossing and your impalements await. Strap on your curiass and charge, lad. This pussyfooting about files is unseemly.
  21. In regards to one request someone put out there. BTS would not want a "self-correcting" FO. If there was you would see the following post. **WHAT THE F***! I called in an Arty strike and it was 100m off to the right and it landed just as a platoon of infantry left the tree line. It was in PLAIN SIGHT of the FO and the idiot "adjusted" it off of the target. In RL an FO would have left it where it was falling and Fired for Effect. ARTY SUCKS in CMBB! See the dilemma BTS is in?
