  1. I set you up in a treeline with orders to fire that bazooka only at enemy tanks. Then some (elite, of course, because they'll follow any order) SS troops come walking towards you. What do you do? ------------------ Out of commission, become a pillbox. Out of ammo, become a bunker. Out of time -- become heroes...
  2. 290mm Spigot Mortar (Hollow Charge) Range 100m Blast 87. Overpriced Hamster. ------------------ Out of commission, become a pillbox. Out of ammo, become a bunker. Out of time -- become heroes...
  3. A gun uses a fixed propellant charge (fixed as in always the same, not necessarily fixed to the shell like a bullet), and aims by aiming the piece. A howitzer uses a lighter carriage and uses a variable propellant charge to achieve different ranges. This gives greater tactical flexibility. As previously mentioned by Mr. Oz, the howitzer has a higher trajectory, somewhat like a mortar, and can reach "dead ground" behind hills and other terrain features better than guns, which often overshoot. I don't think CM models this difference in targetting. ------------------ Out of commission, become a pillbox. Out of ammo, become a bunker. Out of time -- become heroes...
  4. He might lock it. He can say he was only following orders... ------------------ Out of commission, become a pillbox. Out of ammo, become a bunker. Out of time -- become heroes...
  5. God save us from thinkers and fools. To listen to you people, it's like it never happened at all. At the risk of the inevitable ban, have a gander. Tell me again how good these Waffen SS types were, how innocent. http://www.paradisemodel.com/nazi.gif
  6. That's the point. One can't find another. The Waffen SS has that honour. It's a big leap from shooting prisoners out of stress or anger and rounding up nearly 700 civilians and torching them. I won't even touch the Russian front.
  7. And Jean-Paul Hass, aged 2 months, shot and burned in the church at Oradour-dur-Glane, along with all the other women and children of the village, by members of the 2nd SS Panzer Division, thanks you for your consideration. Good night, Gracie.
  8. LOL!!!! ------------------ Out of commission, become a pillbox. Out of ammo, become a bunker. Out of time -- become heroes...
  9. Sit DOWN, Bauhaus... He said I could do it... ------------------ Out of commission, become a pillbox. Out of ammo, become a bunker. Out of time -- become heroes...
  10. Forget it, Tommi. One can't argue with a hot-head. His argument has gone from "Waffen SS weren't killers" to "So what? Everybody else was doin' it." Leave him to his fantasy.
  11. Jeff. Please read the quote I included above. Actually, there were five or six produced. the first two (or three) were mild steel prototypes and one of THEM saw action when it replaced one of the three production units.
  12. It doesn't, and no one is talking about them except you. Oradour or My Lai or Shatila, they are one and the same. Why do you want to explain them away?
  13. Names of the residents of Charly-Oradour who died June 10, 1944, with their ages. There are listed 44 here. There were 672 in total. I doubt you'll find it in the 2nd SS Panzer Division's log book. [This message has been edited by Forever Babra (edited 03-05-2001).]
  14. It's a pretty good series with some powerful imagery. I'd recommend it to anyone in any format. For the benefit of Maximus, there's even a short intro on the first episode about a nondescript little village in France. Damn, what was the name again... ------------------ Out of commission, become a pillbox. Out of ammo, become a bunker. Out of time -- become heroes...
  15. Oradour-sur-Glane, June 10th, 1944. Read about it. http://www.oradour.btinternet.co.uk/
  16. November is also the default start date. Some folks just can't be bothered picking another. ------------------ Out of commission, become a pillbox. Out of ammo, become a bunker. Out of time -- become heroes...
  17. The residents of Oradour-sur-Glane will be greatly relieved by this revelation. Hi Mom!!!

  21. "I wonder where the mother bear is...?" "Naw, these are the good kind of mushrooms..." "I've seen this done on TV..." ------------------ Out of commission, become a pillbox. Out of ammo, become a bunker. Out of time -- become heroes...
  22. I don't have to navigate anything. I set the default save directory for email attachments to "C:/CMBO/PBEM". Piece of cake.
  23. Tiger (at least I think it was Tiger) did up a nice Commonwealth leather jerkin mod which I use for winter scenarios. Don't know if anyone is hosting it or not. ------------------ Out of commission, become a pillbox. Out of ammo, become a bunker. Out of time -- become heroes...
  24. In CMBO, M4A1, Sherman II and Sherman IIC (ugh) are shown with 85% quality. M4A1(76)W and Sherman IIA have no such listing.
