  1. Its a good idea and one that is welcomed by me, but I think you'll see that when you find an opponent you like to play games with you'll wind up sticking with that opponent. Of course that opponent wont always be around and you may tire of playing him or her, but I thinks its best to play people you know a little bit, even if its through the 'net.
  2. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Kind of hard to tell directions when all you care about is getting away from the firing, eh? Units will usually retreat toward the friendly map edge (set in Perameters in the scenario editor), but panicked units will do all kinds of things that us reasonably sane battalion HQs would think is senseless. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Hi 109Gustav, I have to disagree with this. I know that troops can and will act senseless when being butchered up by enemy fire but running towards the fire does not make any sense even to the one being shot at. I have seen a few to many times in CM where I have a squad being fired at by an enemy squad and it would seem that my squad would have the sense to run away from the attacking enemy squad. Hmmm...maybe there is references to this occurance. But until I read up on it I would say this doesn't seem right. But again...we are just normal reasonably sane battalion HQs that would think its senseless.
  3. Good Post Guy w/gun. Now I feel ok. I lose to the AI with regularity. I would say 30%, but it depends on the QB set up. In Scenarios it can be different.
  4. WOW its a flame war! In light of the mac... I have a mac and run as many Hi-Res mods as I want. In fact just to let my PC brothers know, the mac runs Hi-Res mods quite well. I run on a G4 400 agp 16mb Ati card and CM runs great. I run with alot of Hi-Res mods, like alot from Tiger and krawzydawg, and DD's and mauguas. All great stuff all hi-res, runs pretty smooth. Oh and I have had only one freeze, lock-up so far. I just wish BTS would carbonize CM because OS X is rockin! [ 04-18-2001: Message edited by: Panther131 ]
  5. I'll still consider that my first Peng thread post though Thanks Maximus. (for the thread) [ 04-18-2001: Message edited by: Panther131 ]
  6. Hey Max! This would be my first attempt at a post in a peng thread but I think they have one going at the wanna be sedated Joey Ramone tribute Peng thread. Damn!
  7. PeterNZer said: <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Someone could do an all-brown and all-green mod to make CM just like those toy soldiers you had as a kid! <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Now that would be COOL!
  8. Rob1 dont let them get you down. Some people on this board take things to seriously. Obviously your just making a fun mod. Nothing wrong with that. People on this board in the CM community are too sreious for their own good sometimes. Rob1 can you post the mod up again, I cannot see it. I always like a good old fun "what the heck" mod.
  9. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>PeterNZer gave a better answer than I probably would have I don't have a problem with a site that has all the scenarios. I some cases, I'd rather have links to the scenarios page on another site (where there is extra material about the scenario posted -- such as Der Kessel). Author's permission is a big consideration. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Well I totaly understand and agree why scenario creators would want there work to be distributed correctly. Site's like Der Kessel and Combat-Missions are great for that. Well thanks for the replies guys
  10. Berlichtingen : Not trying to be contentious but why?
  11. PantherGunner: Agreed but what about the covenience to the end user? Its is alot easier to download one megapack full of operations and scenarios then to look and wade through downloading individualy. I have done it and its a PITA. Hmmm...not sure what to think on this. [ 04-16-2001: Message edited by: Panther131 ]
  12. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR> "we go and write full individual pages with details, screenshots and descriptions. Is it going to be worth continuing to do this?."<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Thats up to you, but it seems that somebody has a larger picture in mind concerning a site for scenarios and operations. Your site has plenty of information on scenarios and operations and downloads, but certainly not all of them. [ 04-16-2001: Message edited by: Panther131 ]
  13. Woa Manx! I dont think there is any harm here! I think this would be great to be able to go to a central site containg every scenario or possibly every CM scenario ever made. I dont think thi will hurt yours or anybody elese site Manx! Your site is excellent for many many things! Mods scenarios, Operations, guidelines, Armor info, much much more!
  14. Warmaker , just out of curiosty, why do you think the Tiger I's stats are short changed in CM?
  15. Just a reminder that tank crew morale is already some what modeled in CM. As we know that when a tank or AFV gets hit (penatrated) but does not get knocked out the AFV has a "panic" period of some time before being able to move or shoot at an enemy. Though this is not like the infantry or gun status of panic, routed. As for the command vehicles suggestion, it seems like a good idea. Though, how much more should a command vehicle cost? And also, since german AFV's had typically better radio equipment then the russians then how will this be modeled in CM? I remember in an interview with a russian tank commander, he said that he could'nt hear anything from the radio at all and that in his experience it was useless. Of course thats just one account of russian radio communication for tanks.

  17. Hi Jeff Duquette, can you tell me where I can get my hands on that video? It sounds rather interesting. Thanks
  18. I like your building mod But, those german uniforms look pretty cool too. Can you tell me if that is a mod and where I can get them?
  19. Yeah and I am eagerly awaiting CM2 and then after that I wait for CMII the engine re-writeup. I'll buy all the CM games...I just want the next gen CM, and of course the CM2 , 3 and 4. BTW this topic's been trounced to death. Take it from me, its a Good thing that CM is doing CM2, 3, 4, and then a CMII. Its better this way...trust me.
  20. So then...I wonder why this is not possible in the CM world. Anybody?
  21. Agreed. Pushing or pulling the gun in either direction seems logical. I too have wondered why this is not possible. Is there anyone else that has experience with this in the real world? I hope BTS considers changing this for CM2 unless this was just not possible in the real world. [ 04-08-2001: Message edited by: Panther131 ]
  22. I just followed your advice Schrullenhaft and I was able to install CM however aiff5001 and aiff5002 wont install again. It said that it would not "copy" becouse of a "disk error". However CM seems to run fine so far I suppose. I ran it but played no games yet. I supppose I will test it out to see if something seems amiss. Anways, I am wondering what an aiff file is. I think its a sound file but I may be mistaken. I wonder which ones are 5001 and 5002 since these are the ones that dont want to copy. Hmmm...well I dont know... Thanks again Schrullenhaft
  23. Hello BTS. Hi guys. Well my CD is finaly kaput. Not sure how this happend as of yet. This was happening to me quite a while ago though I was able to install the game after a few trys. Well, whats wrong you ask? Well, Everytime I try and install my CM CD with a full install, the installer won't go past aiff5001, or something like that. I am not sure if that is a windows file or a mac file but I suppose that does not matter much Ummm...I am on a mac have tried all of the imaginable and unimaginable ways to clean the disk or the CD tray...(blowing on it ) but to no avail. So...is this something that has been happening to other CM'rs or am I an only duckling Further to the point: I am not sure if I have somehow defected my CM CD or it came with some sort of wierd defect. The reason I ask is, I have taken care of my CM CD like it was the holy grail and as I mentioned before, I had had this problem once before (actaully twice) but was able to install CM after a few tries. this time she just wont install. So...I will gladly purchase another CD from ya'll but was wondering if my CD might have been defected somehow before I recieved it. Of course there is no real way to figure this out and also I bought my CD from ya'll in october so it was a long while ago. Anyhow...(I never really cared to mention it since it did install after a few tries) My question: is the CM CD known to have any premature defect? And well...thats it. Have a good night guys. P.S. - My CM CD does have a few spots on it. Not really scratches per say but spots as if my carbonated beverage was hovering nect to the CD at one point and its efervecsents just kinda flowed over onto the CD. Yeah, its kinda wierd, but that is the only explanation I can can come up with at this point. Anyways again, I am not saying I want a free CM CD here, I just thought I would mention this bcouse of the possible install problem I having. Honestly my CM CD is in good shape and I dont leave it in bad places and its mostly either in the CD tray or the CD case. P.P.S. - Standard install works BTW, have not tried minimum though. Anyways thanks for listening.
