1. I used to play alot of Combat Mission years ago. I skipped on the Eastern Front version, and figured I would wait for the CM2x or whatever the next generation of CM is going to be called. However after many years of not being interested or even using a computer all that much, coming back to Battlefront.com is pretty confusing. So after browsing the site quickly with lots of fresh joy here are my few questions: Will Theatre of War be available for Macintosh? Is the game part of the Combat Mission series? It looks fantastic. I am sure people will give me the "when its done" answer but is there an estimate when CM2x will be ready for release? Are there any eye candy screens? Anyway thanks for your help in advance.
2. Hi Tom, I could not tell if that was pure sarcasm or not. Me being on a mac and all, I am definitly in the minority. BTS, is there a mac version in the works for Strategic Command? The game looks great guys! [ May 21, 2002, 11:22 AM: Message edited by: Panther131 ]
3. That Panther looks nice. I was not a fan of it originally but boy oh boy it looks really good there. Was something done to it to alter its look. I like the side panels covering half the tracks. They look good.
4. Under 100 points I like the Stuh42. Great infantry killer and it has the ability to take out Shermans with its hollow charge with relative ease. Bring Vet Panzerfausts for insurance. Stu42 - 79 or 83 for regulars.
5. Hi Panzerman, Thanks for replying. I searched the Cnet site but was only able to come up with the Combat Mission demo.
6. Well, thats about it. I remember there being an ftp site of old CM files but I cant remember the url for it.
7. I am looking for a non camo M7 Priest. I know Tiger has one, I think, or it might be somebody else, but I can not find it at all. Manx's site has Tigers camo version, but I am looking for the more historical look of non camo. I know I have seen this somewhere, i just cant remember anyone reasing it. Anybody know? 8. I really enjoyed Chance Encounter 2 . Its lots of fun. Nothing like a good scenario that makes you use your Panthers wisely. Well its not really that hard of a scenario but its a helluva lot of fun. Makes yu keep your Panthers in hull down. Was fun trying to get my Panthers to survive the whole entire scenario. Le Lorey-A Hard Stand was lots of fun too. The odds are stacked against you and the bocage makes it tough. Elsdorf was one of my favorites and definitly my first favorite scenario. Nothing beats a historical heavy taank battle and its in the snow!
9. I would be interested in the availability of the Strumkompanie’s. They certainly are a deadly fighting infantry force.
10. Ok ok...thanks Wildman and Moriarty for further explaining the Peng challange thread and cess pool thread to me. Well back to CM. Oh and Phillies Phan, I hope you understood that my comment was in-jest
11.
quote:
Its all my fault and I am truly sorry. I should have been aborted immediately after inception. I have nothing to contribute to this world and I take up too much space. My verbiosity is annoying and just responding to you has caused my rash to reappear. Time for more ointment.

Does'nt this fall under flaming and baiting? Will have to contact the BTS people about this. [ 04-30-2001: Message edited by: Panther131 ]
12. Madmatt, Hi. My CD is also unable to copy or install files specifically "aiff" files to my HD. I ordered the game through mail and money order and I do not know if I have the reciept that shows the date of purchase. I would be glad to pay for a replacment CD ASAP. I suppose I will e-mail you about this... I had a thread about this a few weeks I ago.
13. I think Dunnee has a point. The Cess pool way has overflowed so much that it makes it disgusting to even wade through these boards sometimes. Its seems that insults under the guiese of "the cess" are tolerated while others are not.
14. Hey Paton Returns... Don't worry about what other people have said to you which upset you. It happens alot here on this forum. Most here say they are more mature or grown-up, or, well, thats what they believe. And most people here are more critical or just plain critical then open minded. But thats the way it goes when your on a WWII stragey tactical simulation messege board. Well your IDEAS are good. Good luck to your mod and let me know if you need any help with it. My skills in art and such are not very good or well polished so I am not sure what I could do though. Just dont use profanity or curse out others on this forum in other communicated ways or they (BTS) will ban you from posting here. Well good luck man.
15. Last night I finnaly encountered a QB computer picked force which I had heard ever so much about. A force that contained no AT weapons...no shrecks no AT guns...just two 20 mm halftracks and a hotchkiss. Now some could say that I need to out flank the enemy or shoot him in the rear or something like that, but when your faced with two Sherman III's ahead of you and your hotchkiss decides that its getting out of there after trying to engage a clean LOS shot form the rear. My hotchkiss which was my greatest AT ability out flanked the sherman from the rear and she still bugged out. (this was not too my surprise however, it was for more for ****s and giggles sort of thing) The lowly Hotchkiss has but only a measly 40mm of armor penetration ability at 100m. Needless to say the hotchkiss self disengaged after pinging a deflected shot off the shermans rear. So...what I would like to see is more play balanced computer picked games, if that is possible. 16. Hi Belle, I am runnin CM on a mac, and I am running CM at 1152x 870. Works fine for me. Maybe your running CM without 3d hardware? Could that be why his resolution is no more then 800x 600?
17. Remember, here in the CM forum in BTS land, we all get shelled for asking simple obvious questions

19. Also Königstiger front turret has this same problem. Take a look at it too. illo, just to clarify that you do not mean that the konigstiger's turret, and upper and lower hull are given the same slope modification are you? You bring up a good point. Hopefully BTS will look into this.
20. When did this place become such a flame-bait, insult packed house of asses? The CM forum in my opinion has degenerated to this.
21. On the contrary, Tungsten rounds penetration effectiveness drops off significantly against sloped armor. Tungsten penetration table as indicated: 100 m 500m 1000m 2000m 0deg 249 219 185 132 30deg 190 175 149 100 60deg 83 75 66 50 Panther turret design has 11 degree slope however Panther upper and lower hull has 55 degree slope effctively doubleing armor protection. Turret 110/11° Upper Hull 80/55° Lower Hull 60/55° Panther is most vulnerable to tungsten at its turret. Is this correct? I have had two Panthers KO by weak armor spot penetration. And one Panther taken out by a 75mm Sherman round at very close range (within 40m) [ 04-27-2001: Message edited by: Panther131 ]
