  1. Wreck's Group in ROW I consisted of: TabPub, Bimmer, Combined Arms, Juha A, Spanish Bombs, and Enoch. There was another (Tony Zalewski), but he hasn't played in an ROW tourney since. Would you six like to make up a single section? Let's put it a different way. Are there any of you six who would prefer random placement to this "single section" idea? Treeburst155 out. 2. Yeah, it sounds like RL has all but wiped out Tom Norton's CM time. Treeburst155 out.
  3. Hi Ari! Yes, we need Mattias to make an appearance. Treeburst155 out.
  4. Congratulations on the new family member, Vadr! You made it in plenty of time to this thread. Sgt. Gold, Yes, you are an ROW vet in good standing. You need to email me however, for organizational purposes. Subject: "Signup" In the body: "Sgt Gold, email address" Thanks!! Treeburst155 out.
  5. Redwolf, LOL! Yeah, a good slapping delivered by the slacker's opponents. BTW, WHY don't you like the time zone idea? Holien, I doubt it would be possible to confine each section to only one or two time zones. Maybe in America and Western Europe it could be done. Even if you were confined to GMT alone, you could wind up with opponents in London, Dublin, Edinburgh, Lisbon, Reykjavik, Casablanca, and more. IOW, your games would be against people in the UK, just as you said. Your point is well taken. I too like playing CM with people from all over the world. Treeburst155 out.
  6. Hi Redwolf, Yeah, I was wondering about Kiwi Joe too. He still has six days to notice the thread. Treeburst155 out.
  7. I like the grouping by geography idea. It would help players finish on time. It would require a little effort to find out where everybody lives, but it wouldn't be that difficult. We couldn't do it for every tournament because there would be little variety in the matchups from tourney to tourney; but, we could do it for this tourney. Related to this is another thing I failed to mention earlier. In ROW II, the third tourney consisted mainly of ROW newbies. I did this to protect the tourney veterans from the drop-out problem as much as possible. This turned out to be a good idea because Tourney III DID have more drop-outs than the rest. Not a whole lot more, but more nonetheless. With my new way of handling drop-outs, the tourney as a whole is not affected by the problem. However, inside a section plagued with drop-outs, player enjoyment of the tourney would be reduced. They might not get to finish all the scenarios, for one thing. In light of the above, Tourney III will contain the ROW Newbies. I must protect my veterans! Sections in ALL tourneys will be random except for the mutually agreed upon pairings. That is, unless I go with the geographic idea. Even if I do that, Tourney III will be the Newbie tourney. ROW Newbies: The drop-out problem isn't THAT bad, even in Tourney III. Treeburst155 out. ROW veterans in good standing have THRU this coming Monday to claim a slot. On Tuesday, the new guys will be put in. We are almost at the point where the last of the ROW Newbies will not get in. Any who miss out will be put on a replacement list in the same order. Chances are at least fair that there will be a withdrawal or two before the tourney begins in early January. Chances are downright good that there will be some withdrawals within 30 days of the tourney start date. 9. I'm don't think QBs can have exit zones. That's a nice little map though. I'm adding it to my collection. Thanks! Treeburst155 out.
  10. OK, listen up you wankerous warts. I'm only gonna say this five times, so pay attention. We're having a tournament. It will be called the Cesspool Tournament of Winos. It has been approved by....well, nobody actually; BUT, it has been discussed with that idjit Justicar, and I'm sure he'll go for it if, heaven forbid, he actually makes it back from this business trip he's on. The whole bad idea was hacked out by the UberGnome (including the name), so it's all Panzer Leader's fault anyway. Now then, if you want to play in this tournament, Sod Off!!. You're too competitive and should banish yourself to the outer boards. There's a tourney out there that, if won by you, will definitely enlarge that which is most important to you. If you don't want to play in this tourney then consider yourself drafted. What you don't want, the Mutha Beautiful Thread absolutely insists that you get. This is as it should be. How It Works The draftees will each play one game. The game will be a smallish QB of exactly 500-1000 points. You (the draftee) will make ridiculous purchases. Your OOB should reflect perfectly the alcoholic stupor in which you live your life. When the battle is over, you will sober up just enough to tell us all about it here on the MBT. We need to know everything... battle parameters, units purchased, gamey tactics, why you hate your opponent, how he cheats, how you cheat, why your cheating is justified, etc.. IOW, we need a colorful and complete AAR from you. Once all the games are finished, and the AARs posted, there will be a vote of the entire Cesspool to decide the winner of the tourney. The Voters will make their decisions based on every aspect of your AAR. If your AAR is entertaining, and you've bribed and/or threatened enough Voters, you just may win the wine so generously provided by WineCape. Finally, you must send an email to the address in my profile acknowledging your status as a recruit (You've been drafted, remember?) in the Cesspool Tournament of Winos. If you don't, you will be hunted down, locked up, and poked with a very long, sharp stick until those who have fulfilled their obligation are released from military service. Intelligence test: make the subject of the email, "Cesspool, your forum name". NOTE: This description of the tourney could change at any time. It probably won't, but it could if the senior Pooligans poke me with a sharp enough stick. Now, let's make a deal. I'll Sod Off, if you Die-A-Lot Now first. No deal? Then Sod Off!! 11. It's obvious that the SMARTEST thing for the ISU to do in the Redwolf situation is to fire the round in the gun before retreating IF the TC feels he has the time to fire AND retreat before the PzIV can get off a round. This is quite a judgment call that must be made very quickly. It is understandable that the TC might not always make a decision that is to the player's liking. It is also quite understandable that the TC would even make the outright wrong decision on occasion. Treeburst155 out.
  12. Right, FOW is lifted on the scenarios. Feel free to discuss them. Passwords are as follows: Fluid Allied: iris Axis: haunt Twin Valley Allied: aloha Axis: Crete Kriegstadt Allied: conflict Axis: engage _____________________________________________ We could start the finals again with just the three of you, but we still need three scenarios even with one less player. QBs would probably be the way to go because they are more or less balanced. We would simply total players' points for the three games and the highest total wins. The schedule would look like this: A vs B B vs C C vs A Treeburst155 out.
  13. Cpl Carrot, Why don't you just let me know a week from today. That will be right before I fill the empty slots with replacements. It's no problem to wait until then. Treeburst155 out.
  14. Well, a more or less medium amount of points are in a medium sized game. I've not seen the scenarios (they aren't finished yet), but the issue of scenario size (units) and length (turns) has been discussed with B&T leader, Scott Boston. We agreed it is best to keep the size of scenarios in the medium range. That's all I can tell you on that. I'd guess 1,200 points for the defense at most, but that's only a guess. Maybe Kingfish can give you more information without blowing FOW. Treeburst155 out.
  15. Aha!! The Carrot gets cold feet! How long do you want me to keep you "penciled in"? Treeburst155 out.
  16. Hi Kingfish! The tourney manual has been updated for ROW III and will be posted to the beginning of each tourney thread, beginning with the next one. I'll start a new thread as soon as the signup process is complete. It is ready for the B&T site when you are. Nabla is currently working on an excellent manual for his scoring system (in pdf format). He is about 80% done right now. It contains everything players and tourney managers could ever want to know about the system, including the math. Holien, OK then, Cpl Carrot and Kanonier Reichmann will be in your section. Ted, You will be placed with Thumpre. Treeburst155 out. [ December 02, 2002, 04:19 PM: Message edited by: Treeburst155 ]

On Tuesday, the new guys will be put in. _________________________________________________ DROPOUTS, WITHDRAWALS, MIAs, etc. Incomplete games are the one thing the Nabla Scoring System does not tolerate well. However, considering the new improvements to the scoring system (Standard Deviation), and the sheer size of the tourney, this problem is alleviated some with regard to the tourney as a whole. Below is how MIAs and withdrawals will be handled: For the first 30 days of the tournament, replacements will be recruited who will take over the games in progress, just as we've done in the past. After 30 days, no replacements. This will result in unfinished games at the end. These games will be scored by me, based on correspondence with the players involved, and possibly game files. If you have an incomplete game at the tourney deadline for ANY reason, you can count on one of three outcomes: 1) You win at the level of the standard deviation from the median 2) You are assigned the median score 3) You lose at the level of the standard deviation from the median If your opponent withdraws from the tourney, or is determined to be the cause of the game not getting finished on time, you get #1 above for that game. If I cannot determine who caused a game to go unfinished (both players?), the game will be scored at the median (#2). If you withdraw, or have caused a game to go unfinished (slow turnaround) you will get #3 above. If #2 or #3 is applied to even ONE of your games for ANY reason, you are ineligible to win your section! If you're getting a slow turn rate from an opponent, you need to keep me informed (weekly notes on progress). This way, if the game goes unfinished, I have a history to go by which will likely keep me from assigning the #2 outcome above in questionable situations. I will also email you at the end requesting "your side of the story". The 100 day deadline for game completion will be strictly enforced!! This is because the tourney is big enough that I can get accurate medians even if 1/3 of the games go incomplete. Do your section a favor. Finish your games. If you are losing badly, keep in mind that your opponent is winning and probably enjoying himself immensely. Let him have his fun, and do your best anyway. Dropping out of sight when you are losing is desertion under fire! Treeburst155 out. [ December 02, 2002, 12:26 PM: Message edited by: Treeburst155 ]
  18. I've been hunting half the day for these BMPs. Can anyone help me out? Thanks! Treeburst155 out.
  19. LOL!! Kanonier, if I put you in with Holien he might gripe. If he agrees, I'll do it. Mr Spkr, assignments will be random, I promise you, except for special requests if both parties agree. No grouping by CMBO skill for this tourney. I don't think CMBO skills transfer over to CMBB in any significant way. Treeburst155 out.
  20. I have an XP 1900+, Ti 4200, 512 RAM. I just like to go fast and smooth. Besides I'm too blind (and colorblind) to appreciate nice looking textures. Building bmps begin at 6000, and are hopefully contiguous. Treeburst155 out.
  21. This is all great, but I want a list of all the BUILDING bmps. The current ones are just too darn good looking, and they slow down my game (or is it the polygons, and not the textures?). I want bird's eye views of Stalingrad to scroll and rotate like greased lightning! When giving orders, I want that LOS/Order line clamped to my cursor with a vengeance! So, anybody know what the numbers for the building bmps are? Oh, I need the damaged building bmps too, and the RUBBLE! Thanks! Too much eye candy. BFC, fix or do somefink!! Treeburst155 out.
