3. Somebody has an idea how units counted in the endresult if the leave the map? Own, enemy, prsioners???
 4. Bridges : random weight limit is a good idea! Artillery : thanks for the Cut&Paste Vanir, that's what I think and have learned in the one year in a mortar company during my military service.
 5. I noticed that artillery comes in vertical to the frontline - that would mean an artillery position like this: But an artillery position looks usualy this way: So artillery fire should cover a line parallel to the frontline. Then I noticed that even the heaviest tanks are able to cross small wooden bridges. Normaly a heavy tank cann't cross every stone bridge.

 7.
quote:
Originally posted by lcm1947: Very nice Scipio. They are different from the regular grey uniforms I've seen. Did they really use green uniforms like this or did you just want them to be different? Don't get me wrong I think different is good but just wondering for my own information.

Similar to the camo smocks, it seems there wasn't an 'absolute' fieldgrey. The shades reaches from grey to a bright green and brown, depending on the factory, year and whatever else. Look the pics. I decided to take a green variant. [ 07-11-2001: Message edited by: Scipio ]
 8. Hi folks, my new Feldgrau Uniform is ready soon. I hope you like it.
 9. My two cents abot CM and RTS: CALL THE MOB BRING TAR, FEATHERS AND RAILS
 10. I noticed that the heavy US mortar has a very short delay, just like the 81mm mortar, while the heavy German mortar has a delay like a 105mm Artillery. Can someone tell me why? I was in an 120mm mortar unti in my military service, so I know it's - in princip - the same like the smaller mortar, except the bigger shells, of course.
 11.
quote:
Originally posted by Fairbairn-Sykes Trench Knife: Scipio, i e-mailed you but got no response. i'm still interested in some of the CC2 voices. one could make a nice amalgam of sounds using CM, CC2 & the voices that these Poms are (hopefully) planning to record. thanks.

Soory, I didn't received it. Please try this email : scipio@scipiobase.net
 12.
quote:
Originally posted by Four Stringer: Hola! I found a website which has some cool wav files of .50cal, vickers mg, etc. I'm pretty sure they've been extracted from Close Combat II or III. Anyway, they are in 8-bit stereo format, and from what I've gatherd from my search, these files need to be in 16-bit mono for CM purposes. Can anyone reccomend a freeware/shareware program which I can use to make these format conversions? I've never played around w/audio formatting before, so please excuse my ignorance. Thanks in advance, Mike A.

I have some soundfiles for CM, posted at WarfareHq. Link below.
 13.
quote:
Originally posted by Michael Dorosh: I am interested in this also. Scipio, the two whistle files I linked to above don't seem to work when I try and put them into CM. I have no idea how to format them - can you help?

I've sended the file. Got it?
 14.
quote:
Originally posted by Fairbairn-Sykes Trench Knife: how big would the file be (for only the British CCII voices)? how is it organized - in little snippets like the voices in CM? how's the sound quality? i realize i'm one of the few who are interested. i had hoped some of the British members of this forum would have grown weary of the Tommies' stock voices. maybe this detail is too petty for others who regularly play the British troops. anyway, Scipio, i will contact you about the voice files.

It's only 10 sounds, I compressed them to MP§, so the whole package is only 106 KB. Generally, it would be a nice to make some soundrecordings, even if my German ears wouldn't have the benefit. But I could give support with changing the files into the CM-format.
 15.
quote:
Originally posted by Fairbairn-Sykes Trench Knife: hey Scipio, i really enjoy your audio mods (Sounds of Death & German voices especially). i would be interested in hearing the 'Close Combat II' British voices - i don't own the game. i have the necessary tools for conversion - perhaps you could email me some of the CCII sound files - if it isn't too much trouble. thanks for your ideas.

If you give me your email address or contact me, no problem. It's not much, but - maybe - a begin [ 07-01-2001: Message edited by: Scipio ]
 16. Warmaker, thanks for your short answer and the little addition . I will think about my position and make more tests.
 17. I don't see the great advantage of Crack or Elite troops in CM. Okay, they follow their orders faster, and they can better spot and has better moral - but what I can say, they can't do the most important thing: they don't fight better. I understand that a gun has a specific fire rate that can't be dramatical increased by they gunners (and we shouldn't forget the game abstraction), but I would expect an Elite crew hits better than a green or regular crew. I made a long and detailed test with (all) guns and AT fireing on moving and not moving targets, and all come up to the same result - the quality of the crew doesn't seem to matter, the green crews hit as often as the Elite. I would expect that Elite troops are better in ALL aspects of fighting.
 18. My problem with English/American voices is simple: I'm German. I would try to make something, but I just don't have the 'ears' for it. I can't even say always if it's an English or American accent - so I have not the faintest idea which sounds need to be revised, or if the mod is better then the original. I can only recomment: a) Close Combat II has some - I guess - British voice files. They could be changed into CM sound format (I could change the soundformat, if necessary). A couple - we would need various voices - of our Tommys find together and roar into a microphone.
 19.
quote:
Originally posted by PzKpfw 1: Anyone wanna put those sounds up on a site decoded? [ 06-28-2001: Message edited by: PzKpfw 1 ]

And of course, my sitemaster would tar & feather me if I block 20MB of the site only with my sounds ...and we also won't take one of our attractions on another site
 20. This is very strange. The .wav files must have an specific format, otherwise they sound to fast or slow. Usualy, the MP3 converter shouldn't change the format, and it never did while I using it. Well, the exact format must be : 16 bit, mono, signed, 44100 Hz It can be proofed with a soundeditor like Goldwave I would upload the original files, but not with my 64 bps ISDN connection...
 21. Malfunkt has made his first mod, a Panther G (early and late) with mottled camo and Zimmerit coating. Excellent work! The small pic don't show the rich details. It's a must have! Download at WarfareHQ
 22. tiborhead, can you send me a backup? I mean of your girlfriend, not of the game. I will try to install it on local hardware
 23. I vote for Adolf. As German I must say: thanx god. I'm not so sure if I would be dressed fine in a black uniform
 24.
quote:
Originally posted by tiborhead: I just downloaded the set last night around 11 pm or so. Will I still have to update?

The update was uploaded around 1700 (5 pm) European summer time. I leave it to you to convert this in your local time
