  1. Will the rarity system apply to ALL units, or only to tanks/vehicels?
  2. Martin Turewicz, president of Battlefront.com was so kind to answer me a couple of questions about the European release of Combat Mission : Barbarossa to Berlin. Read the full Interview at WarfareHQ!
  3. I can only second that! And this will not change until AI is not just a term, but really artificial intelligence. The CM AI is okay, it's good to train the basics, and it can even beat you. But a human opponent is the only real challenge.
  4. If you consider CMBB to be any random disposable game, fine. I don't.</font>
  5. What a stupid question. I will run Combat Mission 5 on Windows-2012pro. I will have the latest Geforce-15 Ultra, 128 Terabyte RAM and a 100 Gigaherz AMD K-WOOMM Masterblaster CPU. The machine must be cooled with liquid Helium and has a build-in Fusionplant that delivers the necessary 1.21 Gigawatt of power  . [ July 23, 2002, 04:58 PM: Message edited by: Scipio ]
  6. Moon, for the record is Canada a West European country? What about Quebec? Can sale of CMBB be forbidden to New Jersey altogether?</font>
  7. Huh, why me? BTW, as I have learned in the meantime, it is in CMBO quite easy to rename the Waffengrenadiere into Waffeleisen, WaffenBunnies or whatever you want to. But we all understand that BTS can not support such actions for several reasons. On the other hand, it would help a lot of people to cool down if they would knew that CM:BB uses the same or a very similar 'names library' like CM:BO (cough-cough)...
  8. Now, while I understand the above full well, I am uncertain about the "original English version" thing. Is the "original English version" = the version sold online at Battlefront.com ? Answers are much appreciated.</font>
  9. I'm not sure, but I guess the problem with the protection is not it's facist nature (BTW - why facist???), it's just that it causes problems on some CD/DVD drives, so the CD is just not recognized as CD, and the CDV policy about it seems to be that it is not their problem, but the problem of the drive producers. BTW, I had no problem with a simple copy protection - why should I copy a CD that I have purchased? [ July 22, 2002, 05:28 PM: Message edited by: Scipio ]
  10. IIRC, they have stated several times that CDV has the exclusive rights to sell CM:BB in Western Europe. BTS is not allowed to import the game into the 'CDV-Area', as well as CVD is not allowed to sell the game outside of this area. Of course, if you have a good firend in the US, and shipping costs doesn't matter... Mh, I guess this is the biggest effort in the US-European relations since a long time - so many Europeans surprisingly remember their friends in America
  11. Sgt_Kelly, in Germany has everyone the freedom to tell his opinion. Except he has one... HawkerT BTS has revised the game on demand of CDV. BTS said that's a compromise they have to make in the best interest of the European customers, and they hope that way to reach more people in Europe. A German saying is 'The way into disaster is paved with good intentions'. [ July 22, 2002, 04:59 PM: Message edited by: Scipio ]
  12. I assume you frequently split your infantry squads in the setup? Cause this causes a global-moral loss (don't ask me why), also if you remove troops from the map (like unused transports). [ July 22, 2002, 04:51 PM: Message edited by: Scipio ]
  13. That's wrong, Olle. The global moral is always displayed, and if it falls below 15% (maybe this number was changed in later patches), it will cause an auto-surrender. And that's the whole idea, start with a global moral below 100%, and it is more likely that you fall below 15% during the battle = auto-surrender.
  14. Why 'might'??? In all earlier statements was said 'this is a fact, period'. Well, at least I understood it that way, and for each expressed doubt I was beaten with a club. Twice!!! [ July 26, 2002, 07:35 PM: Message edited by: Scipio ]
  15. In an earlier threat about surrendering troops, the general conclusion was that the most soldiers surrendered because of stratic incidents, not because of the tactical action. I guess this can be easy simulated, even in CM. Maybe it would be a good idea if the 'general moral' must not start at 100%? This can be senseful for example in case of a pocket battle. 16. If this makes you believe that this planet sucks, contact the NASA for a ticket. If the NASA does not reply on your request, write to the President of the US of A. If this does not help, contact the pope for further instructions.
  17. A FLAK unit in Britney? Damned I thought she's still a maiden!?! Another fallen angel
  18. Well, I agree that this go to far into the number of deads/ wounded. But how about the equipment? I have no numbers here, how much casualties did both sides had in battle tanks, for example?
  19. Matt, sorry, I am not on your list. But if you need help with German voices I have four German native CM fanatics at hand which would step in if required. Please advise: thorstenkoch112@compuserve.de</font>
  20. I have only a German source from late 60s. (in Million, m = military, c = civilians) Soviet casualties : 13.6 m, 7.7 c Germany : 3.25 m, 3.81 c Austria : 0.38 m, 0.145 c Rumania : 0.52 m, 0.465 c Hungary : 0.75 total Czechoslovakia : 0.4 total The German population was (AFAIK) ~80 million before the war (inclusive Volksdeutsche?)
  21. It is a fact that the Russians have lost (IIRC) 4 times so many men in WWII then the Germans. Now I wonder how (or if) this will be modeled in CM. The most of the casualties were of course caused by the Russian tactic that not showed much interest for their human casualties, and obvisously would no intelligent player act in that way. Will CM:BB just ignore the historic casualties for playability, or will there be any concept for this issue? This may have been adressed before, but well, do we have something better to do while we waiting? (Except throwing **** on pure little Scipio for some of his opinions )
