Hi, i played SE4 like a maniac. It´s amazing good, for the first hours - and then, you will recognize that it is still not finished. No Challenge for the AI. The AI is full of mistakes, doesn´t use all components you are able to use, does attack and behave stupid, the Diplomacy is still not finished - so nearly useless. If you like to find out the depth of this game, it´s the money worth, if you want to have a full game, with a lot of challenge, you still have to wait, till they fixed the AI and all the other stuff - as they promised. For myself, i´m playing CM again, still happy about the amazing AI and long time challenge. Greetings from Germany Jochen

--Praise for CM Enemy AI---
Jochen Schmidt replied to Spii's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Yeah! The AI is great (only minor stupid behavior). I´m playing an operation now, where the Ai is kicking my ass. Great to see, how it tries to outflank me - great, great!!! greetins to all jochen -
How could AI be better?
Jochen Schmidt replied to jKMkIII's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Yeah, massing up troops is on the one side the right thing to do, on the other side, especially if the terrain isn´t good enough deadly. At the moment i play a DYO-Operation, and the AI is still famous!!!!! I think, the AI in CM is the best i have ever seen in a wargame - sure, it could be sometimes better, and i believe that BTS will work on this. Hope this helps. Bye, bye Jochen -
In German language, but i think it is alos translated to several languages: Paul Carell - "Sie kommen!" About the fighting in the Cean Area, it´s mixture of singel-stories and the great strategic situation. Paul Carell wrote several good books about the war: "Verbrannte Erde" (the withdrawing of the German Army in the East) "Unternehmen Barbarossa" (the German atteck against the Sovjets) "Die Gefangenen" (the german POWs and their faith - didn´t read it yet). Hi all, after playing without any problems the new Beta Patch, i decided to play a new DYO-Operation. But, that´s horrible - i can´t go into the next battle. After the first Operationbattle the programm hangs - i can only see a black screen, my mousepointer and that´s it. I tried it again with 1.05 - everything works without any problems. My System is a PII, Elsa Erazor II (new Nvidia 6.31 installed), Soundblaster...., i never had problems with CM - it is the Beta patch. Well, i didn´t found a posting with this problem, so i write it here in the forum. If it known, well sorry, if it is not...... Please HEEEEEEEEEEELP!!!! Thank you very much ( i don´t wanna miss the improvements of the new patch, especially the smaller siloutte of the PZ IV). Any answer would be very kind. Ah, yes, before installing the 6.31 Nvidia Driver, i had this problem with the black screen only several times . After installing it, it happens after every first Operation battle. O.k. - Please Help me!! Greetings from Germany Jochen

The future lies in the markte, the customers and the company.... little, independent companies like BTS - aaaaaand, the produst. Hasbro does like they want to do - it´s our decision to buy or not to buy. I´m happy, that Falcon 4.0 still lives - without Hasbro. Greetings from Germany Jochen P.S. The bigger the company, the less good is service and individuel consulting for the customer - this is my experience.

Danke! Hey, Du hast da ´ne richtig coole Webpage! Es ist richtig toll, daß es in Deutschland mehrere "Verückte" wie mich gibt, die nicht "rechts" eingestellt sind, aber das Militär mögen. Mach´weiter so! grüße aus Stuttgart Jochen Sorry, this is a german message to mensch. My english is not good enough to translate it perfectly. I´m doing him compliments for his webpage. -
Hi all, after several weeks of no CM-playing, i did it yesterday night! Oh folks, it´s still the best game...... I know, you know this, but i have to tell it everybody. Never had this feeling again and again when playing a wargame. Especially this new camo-mods of tanks are giving a real "realistic" feeling. O.k. - that´s all. Greetings from germany Jochen

CM....How did you 1st hear about it?
Jochen Schmidt replied to Korps's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
I read an article at a german wargame page (Der Grenadier). I was interested and downloaded the demo. After that, the CM-Fever was and is in my body/brain. Jochen -
question about AI deployment
Jochen Schmidt replied to Tiger's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Hi all, i like to do DYO-Scenarios. I was confused, by the AI-setup, - especially, that it doesn´t use the Command & Control ranges very wisely. Now, that Madmatt said, you have to place in DYO-Scenarios the troops by yourself, something is now clearer to me! Thanks! Greetings from Germany Jochen -
The next game you will buy after CM
Jochen Schmidt replied to Knaust's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
I preordered Space Empires IV today. I loved to play Master of Orion II. With Space Empires there comes stuff enough to get this great Space-Feeling again. Thr graphics are not so great, but the game is great. BTW CM rules!!!! Greetings from Germany Jochen -

You are right - it´s not just you! Often, i have the feeling, that a lot of "essential" things are not seen by our big community - but, that´s the forum for. Thanks. Jochen -

O.k., my english is not my first language (grrrrr), but i´ve written the text to fast and didn´t control him before posting - sorry! Thanks for the information, that the winter 44/45 was very cold - i didn´t know - so, BTS is correct. Thanks a lot for your answers. Greetings from Germany Jochen -
So... you were asking for building mods?
Jochen Schmidt replied to McAuliffe's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)

Little Gems of ideas for CM2 thread
Jochen Schmidt replied to PeterNZer's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
All the things said above and trenches, landscape destruction (by artillerie destroyed trees ...), new rubble-buildings and of course the movie-thing ... but, wasn´t it promised to be released as an add-on?? Greetings from Germany Jochen -
A BIG "THANKS" to all the modmakers
Jochen Schmidt replied to Jochen Schmidt's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Thanks again for your answers! Huh, you know a lot of such things - i don´t - i´m only a user with a big wishlist. A desert-looking CM? Well, why not - would be interesting. But i´m very eager to have really ruined cities - It would be great to see this (i know i´m little perverted - but war is war, and the destruction should be shown). Thanks again! Greetings from Germany Jochen -
Hi all, i know same may think that i´m mad or that this post is not worth to read, but i think the CM-Forum is the right place to say this. The colored trees for autumn-season are to early used in CM. The trees (in Germany) are so colored since middle/end of October. Frozen rivers are not usual in Germany in the winter. In russia yes, but not in Germany. (maybe the winter 44/45 was so cold, but i didn´t find any sources). O.k., o.k., this is really not important for the gameplay (perhaps only the frozen rivers) but i think, if we wanna be corgnards this should be said. Any comments?? Greetings from Germany Jochen P.S. - This game rocks!!!!
