BTW StukaPukaPants, are you waiting on a setup from me, or are you weaning yourself off the game? I know our last encounter shook your confidence a bit (lot). Do ya wanna attack or defend? 2.
quote:
Originally posted by Maximus: What's the friggin' point of just reposting an entire post as a quote with no additional input?

Wouldn't be any point at all, if that is what he did. But he didn't. OberGrupenStompinFeuhrer
 3. Sounds like your partner is sending back the file you sent him/ her, instead of their setup file. OberGrupenStompinFeuhrer
 4.
quote:
Originally posted by Wince: Exactly why it's not athread I care to read. Is there any way to block a thread I don't want to see anymore?

Well Wincey, you could always burn your eyes out with a hot poker. If that is too dramatic, you could try looking away quickly if you think the thread might appear. A rather haphazard approach would be to not click on the thread. Of course, these are not the only avenues of self-censorship available to you. Try browsing the forum with your monitor turned off. Very effective. OberGrupenStompinFeuhrer PS: Lorak, I think the Peng thread totally sucks because anyone who contributes to a thread over 2300 posts long is probably enjoying themselves - and most likely without permission or in an approved manner. How can you possibly be serious about CM when you are so obviously enjoying yourself? That's one of those thingies, you know, a moronic-ox or somefink.
 5. In this game we get to buy our units, distributing our points as we see fit. If you buy too much of one thing, you don't get enough of something else. I have no problem if one of my opponents does this sort of thing. If he buys ten bazookas he hasn't got any mortars or machine guns, for example, and my infantry will kill his bazooka teams. If my opponent buys 10 AA guns for ground defence, that's okay, I'll mortar them or kill them with medium to heavy armour. Bottom line, I let real world tactics take care of imbalances in my opponents line up. If I am unsuccessful, that's my poor play - not a signal to cry "gamey"! Don't sweat it Croda, as others have pointed out here, I expect your opponents arty / mortar / armour will resolve the issue. :^) OberGrupenStompinFeuhrer
 6.
quote:
Originally posted by Mark IV: I don't see anything gamey about lighting all the buildings you want. If it makes tactical sense, do it

I'm with MarkedforDeath on this one. How could this be gamey? Is it "gamey" to shoot HE into buildings in case there are enemy troops hiding in there? If you've got the ammo, use it. May as well say artillery is gamey as well. I've had some good success with flamethrowers, both troops and vehicles. They do tend to be very vulnerable though, so suppression / screening is essential on the attack, and ambush is de rigour on the defence. They are especially good in scenarios with limited visibility, as they have a chance to get close enough to do some damage. .02c OberGrupenStompinFeuhrer
 7. Okay, this may or may not help. Two things come to mind to try: First, check your CM folder for a "prefs" file. I know it's a new install, but the old one might still be kicking around. If there is a prefs file, delete it and restart CM. If that don't work; Second, right click on the desktop (I'm assuming Win98 or 95 here) and click "properties". Click on the "settings" tab then "Advanced" button. CLick on the adapter tab and check which video card your PC thinks it is using. If it is still the old one, click on "change" and reset the video to "standard VGA" and then "OK" etc. to save this and exit. Reboot your PC and follow the 3dfx installation instructions. Windows should prompt you for the drivers on rebooting. If it doesn't, go back toe the adapter / change place and install the voodoo card from there. Good luck, and I hope that makes sense. 8.
quote:
Originally posted by L.Tankersley: AFAIK, it all started with an innocuous thread entitled something like "SS are overpriced hamsters!" I'm sure a search on SS, overpriced and hamsters would teach you more than you really want to know about this topic.

That was indeed the original reference to hamsters on this board. A flight of invective simile born of frustration at the performance of my veteran SS troops in battle one foggy night. I tell "Knock! Knock!" jokes as well..... OberGrupenStompinFeuhrer
 9. Dave, they look great. Thanks for the effort. Bumping this in case others missed it. Cheers, OberGrupenStompinFeuhrer

 11.
quote:
Originally posted by Dittohead: From WWII magazine they have www.toysoldierco.com

I just checked this one out and they have original Timpo figures. I had dozens of these back in the early 70's, no idea where they are now. And I look and this site is selling 3 Crusader foot soldiers and a mounted Knight (4 figures) for $150!!!!!!!! I think I bought them for about 15c a foot soldier and mayber 25c or 40c for a mounted Knight. Now *that's* a retirement plan!! (If only I knew what happened to them all!) OberGrupenStompinFeuhrer
 12. Hope everything goes well, MM. Bounce back! OberGrupenStompinFeuhrer
