  1. Thanks for an extremely interesting mod. Against the Allied AI I was up to March, 1942 and was dumped out of the game when an American transport tripped over an Italian sub. This occurred in the turn where the US declares war on Algeria and attempts to conduct an amphibious assault on the same turn. I sent the error files to Fury. This was using the 18 July version. One question: Army Group C (Center?) (1st, 5th and 7th Armies) had been formed and was commanded by von Leeb. Shouldn't he be put back in the starting OOB? The 1st and 7th Armies were probably not much more than Corps strength, but the 5th Army (on paper) was pretty strong.
  2. I'm with you on the drawing side. I'd gladly pay for an editor which allowed you to draw coast lines that matched existing tiles. I'd also pay for an editor which allowed for a per-country customization (Rockets in Country A remain as rocket while in Country B they are Security units). I wish I could find an answer to the partisan/bombing problem. I can't find any way in the current scripts to model the increasing damage over time that Germany suffered from strategic bombing.
  3. Thanks for creating such an interesting mod. It's good to see the panzers being able to dash ahead and suffer the painful wait and attrition while the infantry catch up. Two questions: For this could you use the depression tile from Africa and paint it blue? By November 1941, Berlin was bombed to a zero level and never recovered. Am I the victim of a berserk random number generator or is that what you intended? At any rate, it appear the capabilities of the RAF in 1941 and early 42 are overstated. I don't think that they were really effective until the Pathfinder force, Gee and Oboe were available.
  4. Linking airborne units to LR tech seems to be a mistake. If you look at the transport plans for MARKET-GARDEN you can find routes from some of the airbases to the drop zones exceed 700km. This was accomplished with aircraft (C-47) which were flying 4 years before the war began. Nine tiles seems like a very long range, but it was possible. Also, the Russians built a copy of the C-47 so these distances should not be US/UK province only. The German JU-52 (also flying before the war) delivered airborne units more than 600km during the invasion of Norway.
  5. Thanks for the excellent work on the patch. It's nice to see the AI invading North Africa and France. While executing a sub campaign against the Allies I recieved the following report: Shouldn't the top line report the US convoy link to the UK?
  6. Don't forget Ultra. The Luftwaffe always had poor cipher discipline.
  7. Now I'm really impressed! I go crazy trying to use the selection tool to cut out pieces to transfer to other parts of the tile. Thanks.
  8. Thank You for this information. It will be very helpful for construction of new maps. What tools do you use for your graphic modifications?
  9. Editing the national_tile_sprites.txt did the trick! I guess the moral of the story is that if you edit tile_sprites.bmp they you must make the same changes to national_tile_sprite.bmp and light_tile_sprites.bmp. Thanks for the help
  10. In a recent experiment I had several French units at sea when France surrendered. Two survived, and when landed in the UK show up as French units vice Free French. They will attach to the French HQ, but cannot be reinforced. This had happened in a previous experiment, but I didn't make any note of it. It was only in trying to reinforce the unit that I noticed a problem.
  11. Sorry, but I can't find the original thread so I will add this one. A unit at tile (10,21) cannot be transported from the port at (10,22). The diagonal move to the port works at other ports on the US east coast.

  14. The edited tile_sprite.bmp is in a folder named Bitmaps under the Campaign folder for the test campaign. The Custom_Bitmap is set to one. Sometimes a slow hand is fine
  15. This is a picture of what I see in the editor.
  16. I am experimenting with a view to creating a larger map of Europe. I used PaintShop to edit one of the Land+Sea tiles. The tile looks fine on the palate, but when the new campaign is loaded, the old tile appears as a grey image under the new image I painted. I tried to make foreground and background identical in the edited tile, but image of the original tile still appears (grey). Any ideas or suggestions. Thanks
  17. Thanks! I used the F4 key and selected 1024x768 and unchecked the full screen button and it works well on a 19" monitor. Exactly what it says in the manual. Should have read it a litte more closely [ April 30, 2006, 08:45 AM: Message edited by: ebitt ]
  18. It's a Campaign Event described in Appendix A. of the manual. Hope that helps.
  19. Thanks for the prompt reply. Wonderful game with superb support! It was the following from the map making documentation in the extras folder that led me astray: My monitor only supports 1280x1024, so I guess I'm out of luck.
  20. I was trying to use the editor in conjunction with a paint program as described in the documentation. The editor window takes the entire screen and the normal "restore down" button is greyed out. There is a tab on the lower right of the screen, and the sizing arrows appear but the screen will not resize. Using a Dell 8400, 3391Mhz and 1024Mb physical memory. Video card is a Radeon X800XT(256Mb adaptor RAM). OS is XP Pro, SP2 with all critical updates. Any ideas or suggestions? System works normally otherwise.
  21. In another thread Comrade Trapp posted: Blashy replied: I can't see any way to buy partisans. Partisans don't appear on the menu for purchase nor do they appear on the Editor menu for the Production queue. Have I missed something?
  22. As requeted, I'm moving this over here. Desert Dave replied to Fantomas and my question about the "extra" slot as follows: Artillery, like in Panzer General would be awesome. Thanks! Next time I order a pizza with "extra" cheese I'll remember I have to give up the pepperoni.
  23. Germany, for example, can't buy a partisan nor can it be added to the production queue in the editor. Have I missed something?
