  1. I thought that I had seen something like this before, and it turns out it was at the Museum of Army Flying, Middle Wallop. Although they only have a replica, if you can believe wikipedia, the Hafner Rotabuggy actually flew.
  2. Looks like it might be a "short snorter". These bills were common in WW II and you might start at the web site devoted to them.
  3. 'When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, 'it means just what I choose it to mean - neither more nor less.' Lewis Carroll
  4. I think even the Royal Navy would classify the USS Cole as a ship.
  5. Wiretapping was around long before 1940. The French Resistance and the Jedburgh teams caused enough havoc to the telecommunications system to force the Germans to go back to using radio. The good folks at Bletchley Park had a field day once the Germans were forced to use radio again.
  6. Appendix 6 of Niklas Zetterling's book "Normandy 1944" gives a daily cumulative total for US and British tank strength. It also gives tanks types for many of the units, but this information is not complete. The TO&E for the unit type is given but not necessarily the exact model of the tank.
  7. On a UK keyboard the position of the tilde is not the same as on a US keyboard. On my (UK Extended) keyboard the "`" key returns the AI plans.
  8. The Mythical Man Month By Frederick P Brooks was always one of my favorites. It deals with the development of the operating system for the IBM 360 and is at least 40 years old. I believe you can download copies of it now, but I don't know if that is legal.
  9. Torch didn't occur until November 42, which was still a lot earlier then a lot of the upper echelon of the Army was comfortable with. Rick Atkinson's excellent book "An Army at Dawn" paints a pretty grim picture of the readiness of the U.S. Army to tackle the Wehrmacht.
  10. Mr. Lector has some great recipes.
  11. I really liked The Bridges at Toko-Ri and it made a good movie too. Being from Virginia, I didn't care for Chesapeake.
  12. Thanks It turns out that the tilde key '~' in not in the same place on UK and US keyboards. On a UK keyboard its '`' that provides the info.
  13. The following was clipped from the notes for the Offensive Script (AI): I have tried pressing the tilde key and nothing seems to be reported. Is the information stored in a log file or displayed directly to the screen? (Version 1.02 installed)
  14. When the numbers go red it means you have reached the maximum level set for that category in the Research menu (2 for Infantry, for example). You can still pour money at the category but it will never increase. You can reclaim the money from the category (at 50% of the cost you incurred).
  15. Eagle Against the Sun is good, but you need to back it up with an atlas as it has no maps. I use the West Point Atlas For the Second World War Asia and the Pacific. Both books are usually pretty inexpensive in used book stores.
