  3. http://www.townonline.com/cambridge/entertainment/cooking/008891_0_scoring_110899_986c09ac08.html point 1:The problem with brownie recipes is that everyone has his or her own opinion about the proper texture point 2:I discovered that brownies are really a cross between cake and fudge, often having been referred to as "fudge bars" in older cookbooks point 4:There are two basic methods for making brownies. In one method, the butter is creamed (beaten) and in the other, it is simply melted point 5:melted butter transforms a cake-like brownie into something more akin to fudge point 6:this recipe contained no baking powder; this subtraction also yielded a denser, moister product point 7:use a pan that does not have rounded corners, since a perfectly straight-sided pan produces the most attractive corner pieces ------------------ "They had their chance- they have not lead!" - GW Bush "They had mechanical pencils- they have not...lead?" - Jon Stewart on The Daily Show

  6. here is the scenarios: i recommend this bocage maze since it has no gaps, unlike the town one. http://www.geocities.com/russellmz/cm/zips/Maze2.zip this is the town one, it has a lot of gaps still, so be warned the comp will find all sorts of ways to go straight to the end. http://www.geocities.com/russellmz/cm/zips/Maze.zip feel free to modify these and submit them to other sites. opensource, non-copyrighted, no strings attached! ------------------ "They had their chance- they have not lead!" - GW Bush "They had mechanical pencils- they have not...lead?" - Jon Stewart on The Daily Show
  7. i remember reading one of the really low numbered posts when i was looking for info on the ai's development when i noticed a post mentioning an unsuccessful mod contest from bts. 8. yeah, pretty much the only country where u can kill people at will without protest in us movies are the brits. and i meant everyone will think the german character is a nazi, not the grog. but did das boot have gory combat deaths of brits shown or just the impersonal ship blowing up? ------------------ "They had their chance- they have not lead!" - GW Bush "They had mechanical pencils- they have not...lead?" - Jon Stewart on The Daily Show
  9. nah, no US market, only the most hardened grognard wants to see a german wwii hero, otherwise everyone will assume he's nazi...we need one of the allies, maybe the polish. we were studying them in wwii history class: fight for freedom for everyone. only one armored division but well motivated...homeland under german control, making for a dramatic backstory. ------------------ "They had their chance- they have not lead!" - GW Bush "They had mechanical pencils- they have not...lead?" - Jon Stewart on The Daily Show
  10. i actually was considering making my own little original movie with cm providing the sets, chars, and props, then widescreen formattin it . and then rip off the end of seven samurai, the REAL best war movie of all time... ------------------ "They had their chance- they have not lead!" - GW Bush "They had mechanical pencils- they have not...lead?" - Jon Stewart on The Daily Show [This message has been edited by russellmz (edited 11-07-2000).]
  11. MOTHER#&$%ING IMPRESSIVE! the AI kept slipping through between smaller houses, so i replaced it all with forests and bocages. but apparently the edge between forest and bocage is big enough for a king tiger to slip through. so i go back and make all necessary blocking with bocages and the AI SOLVES THE MAZE. impressive! kudos to charles and steve, and kudos again! ------------------ "They had their chance- they have not lead!" - GW Bush "They had mechanical pencils- they have not...lead?" - Jon Stewart on The Daily Show
  12. ok, here's my amazing new map(laugh you primitive screwheads, it's a pun) brownie points for knowing where "primitive screwheads" is from... start at the bottom right and try and get yr king tiger through a rampant army of stuarts(er, six or seven of them) and two 40mm guns to the ecit at the left. okay, i got this funky map and i realize two things: 1) the ai knows how to cross between smaller houses so i gotta do modifications, ie bigger buildings or bocages. and 2) it's kinda stale after a few tries. anyone know of a good scenario idea using this map? ------------------ "They had their chance- they have not lead!" - GW Bush "They had mechanical pencils- they have not...lead?" - Jon Stewart on The Daily Show [This message has been edited by russellmz (edited 11-07-2000).] [This message has been edited by russellmz (edited 11-09-2000).]

  15. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by 109 Gustav: AA in CM is a bit odd. 88mm and 90mm guns will not shoot at fighter bombers, so they're only useful for antitank work. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> im not sure how useful the 88 AA gun was against fighter bombers, they were used against high-flying b-17 and -24's. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR> Vehicles with flexible machine guns, such as halftracks and Shermans, will shoot these guns at planes, but only if they are not buttoned up. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> not sure if u were counting this is odd, but if they were buttoned up their view would be too bad for firing at the sky. sorry if you knew this and was just sharing info... ------------------ "They had their chance- they have not lead!" - GW Bush "They had mechanical pencils- they have not...lead?" - Jon Stewart on The Daily Show

  18. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Lordfluffers: I know how economics works (demand, supply etc etc). Also please ppl, do not get me wrong. I love CM. However a design team of 2 or 3, and a distributor that does not have to box its products, sell them thru third parties, pay for huge advertising campaigns, or keep international offices etc going, can afford to be a little more generous and keep the price a little lower than your average mass marketed game. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> but this ain't an average game. even at the price, the demand was so huge that they ran out of supply(first run print). therefore, i.e., ergo, f.u., the economics say the price is generous! q.e.d., ipso facto, amen. ------------------ "They had their chance- they have not lead!" - GW Bush "They had mechanical pencils- they have not...lead?" - Jon Stewart on The Daily Show
  19. too cool! ------------------ "They had their chance- they have not lead!" - GW Bush "They had mechanical pencils- they have not...lead?" - Jon Stewart on The Daily Show
  20. i guess it could be modeled, the upside being the german "coolness" factor would go down considerably... seriously, i don't think it would be that good an addition. i read just one story where the germans were attacking while riding bikes in citizen soldiers. d-day i think the canadians carried them up the beaches and one story where a group of us soldiers tossed their commander's bike overboard. ------------------ "They had their chance- they have not lead!" - GW Bush "They had mechanical pencils- they have not...lead?" - Jon Stewart on The Daily Show
  21. first off, what percentage of units do you use when you're playing? i usually choose a very limited set of units when i play as the americans: squads, mmg, zooks, arty guy, shermans, priests, and maybe one or two exotic ones. second, i was looking through past POTD for combat hq and i was wondering if anyone has this map/scenario: thanks! ------------------ "They had their chance- they have not lead!" - GW Bush "They had mechanical pencils- they have not...lead?" - Jon Stewart on The Daily Show [This message has been edited by russellmz (edited 11-04-2000).]
  22. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by David Aitken: Stunning new splash screen from professional illustrator Completely free of charge! David <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> and the response: <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Big Time Software: HEY! David, where did you get the Alpha version of CMBO's splash screen? That was not supposed to have been seen outside of our small gamer focus group. OK, so now the cat is out of the bag, a little backround: We footed the bill for a $5,000 focus group about the game's overall presentation. A dozen gamers, from Grogs to the casual gamer, participated in various questions about different aspects of the then Alpha CM. This splash screen was shown as part of that study and comments were requested. A surprsingly large percentage of the gamers participating found this shot to be "totally stupid". There was some space to explain the reaction to the splash screen, and here are some of the comments as to why it "sucked ass": 1. "The star on the side of the tank is ALL wrong. It is supposed to be a solid filled white star." 2. "The color of the German uniform is not gray enough." 3. "What's up with the that tank!?! The velocity of any tank round is far too great to have five in flight at the same time!" 4. "It is impossible to safely fire the MP40 using the left hand only. He should be firing using the right hand and the left hand should be gripping the magazine. Also, it looks more like a M3 Grease gun than an MP40." 5. "I liked the blood and the severed head. Why can't this be in the game?" So after much debate we decided to put this one on the shelf and got another artist to do up the splash screen. My little 10 year old cousin, who did this masterpiece, was crushed. But hey, if he can't handle criticism... srew 'em Steve P.S. 23. i sent about 1800 points of allied tanks against about 1800 points worth of axis tanks. the allied tanks crested the ridge and went in amongst the germans. hehe i love seeing wrecks. ------------------ "They had their chance- they have not lead!" - GW Bush "They had mechanical pencils- they have not...lead?" - Jon Stewart on The Daily Show [This message has been edited by russellmz (edited 11-02-2000).]
