i don't like many pretty tanks cause they look like museum pieces, not functional instruments of death.
that's one of the reasons star wars was cool, there was the "used universe" concept where ships had looked like they had been in battle, accidents, etc...

is it possible for one squad to pick up bars from other squads that had bar guys die?
i remember squads with wounded men that had 2 or 3 bars at the end.

...get one that lists all or a bunch of posts in a thread at a time, like the ubb does. one of the most annoying things in trying to read a thread at deja.com was that you had to click EVERY SINGLE MUTHAFECKIN POST to read it.(hopefully that will change now that they are bought out by google)

i was wondering what scenarios you thought had a good 'surprise' or two in it and where to get it.
by surprise i mean for example, reinforcements that arrive in the nick of time, or advancing onto a bridge only to discover a far off inf gun that is covering it.
my fave was from a scenario where i was locked to a jeep view and it was leading a column when it hit a minefield...funny stuff
(please don't reveal the surprise, at least not in the top part of the message)

what i find interesting is that games have the same problems as movies:
o all flash and no substance
o don't try anything new, just copy success
o audiences/players say they want good quality movies/games but refuse to spend money to buy/see them cause they can't handle it

a funny thing about midway is that the japanese lost because they were gamey.
the japanese played extensive wargames to determine their chances before a battle.
in one wargame of the midway invasion, a die was thrown and two japanese carriers took hits. the admirals forced the umpire to ignore this result. (we got uber carriers! no way that could happen)
btw, even if we lost all our carriers, we would probably have held outlong enough to bring some carriers from the atlantic and in another year or two we would have built enough carriers to still out number the japanese 2:1. offensive would have just been delayed...
