feature list COMING SOON on BFC website. according to madmatt it is like editing a bible...been checking and waiting day after day for it!

When it's easy to dig a hole, like in summer for example soldiers have better cover in the same amount of time.

yeah, snow and rock hard frozen ground are diffrent things.

Unless CMBB will model The Great Snowball Wall of winter 1944-45, where Hitler's Schneefestung Europa bore repeated Soviet snowball bombardments until spring came.

BECAUSE snow doesn't stop an artillery shell it decreases its effects: the shell buries itself in the snow so the blast is lessened to anyone above ground.

    i THINK cmbo models this.

I do not believe that Combat Bonus increases chance to hit with mortars.

Have you any evidence for this?

Oh yes, I tested it quite throroughly, it was my great time without work but more pay smile.gif

Anyway, just set up a bunch of Pz IV in front of woods, a bunch of 3" mortars inside the woods and then give half of the mortars HQs without combat bonus and the other half 2+ combat bonus. The ones with combat bonus will reliably hit a standing Panzer within one turn, the others can shoot half their ammo before scoring a hit.

Now, it might be the case that the bonus does not apply when the mortar has LOS, I only tested for targetting through the HQ.

All this is another reason why I became a little CMBO-annoyed.</font>

Off course the credit of the scenario will be given to the person that made it. My mail is Psgauy2@adinet.com.uy

    The site is at

    Thks in advance.

wolfe told me this great trick to get a scenario's briefing into a text file:

"Hold down Ctrl and Shift and hit the Load Briefings button."

that might help speed up you translation efforts.

GD means GrossDeutschland. For those who will have CMBB it will be a common abreviation

you can change tank shell loadouts

    hey kump,

    excellent job per usual.

one thing though, i am using someone's explosions that you havn't listed. the readme has no name and is in french but the zip file says: xav_explosions.zip

it is a smoky explosion mostly black with little red and orange showing up.

"Ce Mod est destiné à créer des explosions moins 'Holliwoodish' que la stocky...

Bon en clair, ça fait moins de flammes...

Ce Mod a été réalisé avec la fonction copier/coller de Windows redface.gif )"

no idea where i got it or where to find it now. sorry for lack of info.

I sent it to your email. I haven't seen the map posted yet on the Scenario Depot page. Do I need to give them a link, or does it just take a while to have it posted. Anyone who wants it, just drop me a line.

    coooooooooool!

its huge and it looks great! after rereading that berlin book i mentioned to you before it is good to see all those places in cm.

i like how you included so many important buildings and locations. look there's the zoo! hey look there's hitler's bunker! look, the reichstag! unter den linden! hitler's henchmen's ministries: ss, gestap, lufwaffe, and propaganda ministries! the flak towers! the opera house!

i spent 15 minutes just looking at the map.

    one small problem:

the paces where the bridges touch land have the water twisting above the water level. not sure if you can change the height level or tile type to fix it, just wanted to let you know.

i have two small possible suggestions (not necessarily accurate since i never saw a picture of the places):

should unter der linden have road with scattered tree road tiles instead of pavement? there were some lamposts and trees planted along that lane. it was famous for its lime trees but hitler cut them down to put in some lamposts. some small saplings were put in to replace the lime trees.

i like how you did brandenburg gate. but should the brandenburg gate be taller ? i am pretty sure it looks better now though since i just noticed you used the tallest bridge tile anyway. one story i read was that the russians attacking the reichstag had trouble finding it. they saw a grey building and were trying to get around it to the apparently larger looking building just beyond. their commanding officer told them them on a field phone that grey building was the reichstag. the attacking russians got some recently captured prisoners up to confirm this. the author suggests the russians had mistaken the top of the brandenburg gate for the reichstag.

    a question too:

anything important at that 4 heavy building cluster just southeast of the spree river label? has a pond surrounded by pavement and a one tile black setup zone.

    great work! very impressive looking.

you should try and get one of those free album accounts like at lycos photocenter and post a few pics for everyone to look at. you'd get a lot of downloads just from the screenshot alone.

  9. just did a setup and sent it out.

a nice looking map. looks good from high and low. with the mods i have and the weather and season, it looks really good on my screen. ground is ueven in a natural way. pretty sure i never played chance encounter before so i can't compare to the original. my opponent hasn't either so this should be fun.

a big plus in the scenario's favor: most units are grouped like with like. tanks with tanks, platoons organized in diamond formation with officers in back. very simple to do but saves an plenty of effort for the player. Me like!

    Larger Map

    Longer Duration

    North-South axis of play

    Larger Forces (~3000pts)

    Some terrain tweaks

In all, it should be nostaligc without being stale.

It is probably best balanced for Head to Head but should be amusing against the AI with the usual adjustments.

You're welcome to it, but you have to give feedback, especially bad feedback.

let me have a copy plz. been wanting to pbem a big scenario lately.

Just a reminder, there is a website glitch, to see all the tactical articles, you do not only have to follow one link to the Tactics section, you also have to click the "show all articles" link. Sorry for the incovinience.

On the other hand, it probably serves as a basic intelligence test before you reach the goodies :D

lately i can't get the java based opponent finder to work in my browser. (get a big grey box) doen't matter if i wait a while it stays grey. occassionally if i redo it many times i can get it to work, but it has become unconsistent enough that i stopped going by. any suggestions for me to fix? i got IE5.5 and win98.
  12. the heat caused by the sun causes the image of a tank far off to appear higher or lower than it actually is. something to do with the rising heat causing the light rays to bend slightly up or down when before it hits the eye.

i saw on tv they set up a reference wooden post close to the camera and far off a parked tank. as the sun rose and set during the day the tank appeared to be lower or higher than it actually was.

hehe the whole air force was indeed mine but deanco did the hysterical racing one.

the bug is that ONE bomb appeared to do all that damage. and not even nuclear! smile.gif
