  1. Well, it was US 0 and Germany 1... but we sure looked like we could have done it! Good match! Now, lets see the full game, so we can get some revenge! Enjoy! Aloid
  2. So, leadership is key, that we all seem to agree on. But what role does organization, and equipment play? US leadership is questionable (at times) in WW2, but supply, and equipment were important... Not that the Sherman was any great tank, but it was reliable, and the M1, .50 cal, and eventually the artillery arm were also key... hmmm... broad topic I guess, and open to so much bickering... So, bottomline, people can fight well, if motivated correctly, trained, equiped, and with good leadership... I see this in the design of CM, which is another reason why that game is so great! back to work... (until I hit refresh in the browser in a couple minutes... heh!) Aloid
  3. So what's the excuse for the Italians?????? Bad leadership, bad weapons (tanks, rifles), needed to carry too much water in the desert for pasta? (anyone remember SPI's Campaign for North Africa... it actually accounted for Italian's higher consumption of water!) Aloid
  4. You slept??? What the heck were you thinking??? We're sitting here on pins and nettles, waiting for you to give the all clear to Hubert... and you're sleeping... Hope you had dreams of conquest and ale! Aloid
  5. Hmmmm... subs always worked for me... just have to have them in the right place... You sure? Aloid
  6. This dog will hunt... This bird will fly... Take my money... Kiss my free-time bye bye... So, will I get to buy and download? Or do I have to buy and wait for snail mail... Aloid
  7. Again, this is great work guys! I think I'll have to combine a few of these into a hybrid, to suit my tastes. Perhaps Jorgen's ground and HQ, with Camicie's Air units... Hubert, can we have a built in unit_sprite.bmp swapper? (edit - on second thought, can we just have the game? ) Aloid [ June 18, 2002, 04:00 PM: Message edited by: Aloid ]
  8. Hey Jorgen, that's a winner! I really like the clean look you've made. I must have it!! oh, I see the link... will get it!! Aloid [ June 18, 2002, 12:28 PM: Message edited by: Aloid ]
  9. Thanks guys! That made my morning! That and my Starbucks... You can just print out that graphic, and take it to the bank! Keep the change... Enjoy! Aloid
  10. Northrop's Flying wing, the XB-49, was aloft in 1946, as a jet bomber... It's a perfect "what-if" aircraft which actually flew! A quick Google search will supply everything you need! (God I love the internet... and DSL!!) heh! Aloid
  11. Please take it and give me the darn game!! Waving my money in front of your capitalist noses... Aloid
  12. Sounds like a feast is soon to be had!!! Bring on the bread and ale! I'm ready for some meat as well!! Thanks to all in advance! Aloid "They're not going to make the 22nd, no, sounds like the 18th!"
  13. Oh, there it is! I thought I'd downloaded it, but I must have stepped on it by accident. Yes, it is well done! Thanks to Sgt. Eagle and to you Camicie... Aloid
  14. Is anyone doing a unit mod with symbology like the British Army units pictured here? I whipped that up real fast, and don't want to rain on anyone's parade if they are doing it too... (that's a draft... it needs work...) BTW, is an army three X's and a corps four? Can't remember, and my old board games a buried in the garage... Aloid
  15. I read that the Smithsonian has it tucked away... Aloid
  16. I supposed the editor will allow us to adjust these things. Add an air unit, and reduce resources a bit. Either way, wish I had a newer demo version... Aloid
  17. Hawkmek, The last post here should help.</font>
  18. So, just where are these guys at the start of Italian involvement? I have to think they were active... or did they build up after they entered the conflict? Aloid
  19. Yeah, I really wanted to hide my Armies and Corps level units in fox holes and in ridge lines... Would have been nice to have that kind of detail. A zoom feature that would let me see my individual soldiers is high on my list too... Finally, we must be able to see each division move within the hex during combat... Hubert please do somefink!! ... or we'll have to declare this game as broke!! Aloid (hmmm... what grass mod are you using?)
  20. Agree on the bombardment issue... Also, during that invasion, bring a carrier for air strikes, and if you still have that bomber unit, fly it North to aid in the attack. Aloid
  21. What a cruel man you are! Just turn that knife, while it's in our backs... Aloid
  22. Sounds to me like SC is ready to go! Hubert, thank you for all your recent replies... must have lots of free time on your hands... now that the game is ready... Aloid
  23. I would think that if the Italians can get out of the Med, and be part of a screening force, the Sealion can work. (you only need a turn) One could also use gamey tactics, sush as embarking cheap forces to add to the naval screen. I hope the Gold version will allow for greater success of capital ships against transports (and their escorts), as the screening technique feels too easy. Aloid
  24. I like the idea of a manual setup for the start of a game. I'm not sure how you'd implement a manual setup of a neutral country, because of two things: 1. which side would get to do the setup? Axis does the setup for Italy, then invades Italy and takes an empty Rome... 2. When would the setup occur? Upon the DOW? If so, then a PBEM game stops, so the other player can do the setup? Conversely, if it's done at the begining of the game, you'd end up in the same situation, where a player can take advantage of the setup. Keep neutrals controlled by the AI, but possibly randomize their setup. Aloid
