Nordic Wannabee Tournament - Redux
Mr. Johnson-- replied to Lopaka's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Today I finished 2 more, which makes 3 done. Me and Sgt-Kelly are almost done, just the last few turns. Then I just have to worry about Combined Arms. -
Why don't you make a batch of Static style scenarios. Only problem is you can;t have both sides in foxholes. So make the Germans the attackers in a ME, and give them some bunkers, and let the allies have the foxholes.

Ambushed by the "undead" (CMBB related).

hehehe, This is not just limited to the Russians. Any troops from any country caught in a rout might do the same thing. But if they were smart they would run for the woods, not start shooting. -
D-DAY! off to the testers.

I'm not complaining. Just observing that some people who like eye candy might not buy the game if they can't get past how the BTS homepage looks. I don't give a flying cat crap. But I will complain that BTS could do better describing their flagship game and selling it to someone who knows nothing of the game. I don't think they need to spend a lot of money on some "professionals" when they have Manx at their fingertips. -
The passage of time and CMBB

I agree with Sgt. Kelly. As he said, CMBO does not model resupply of units. Logistics would have to come into play if you changed the scale of the game. Tactical fights is what its all about. There is a teenager in the UK working on a CMMC style of game for Norm Kroger's "The Operation Art of War". Would be interesting to see that and CMMC combined. But that requires some massive man hours doing number crunching, and organinzing the armies. The department of defense has those resouces to do it right. In most of the scenarios I make, I have most of the heavy weapons brought forward to the point where they can cover an advance. Everything is ready for the assault. All you have to do is plan excatlly how you are going to do it. Who wants to spend all day sending out small patrols that don't find anything? And you can't really force CMBO players to worry so much about computer soldiers. Unless the computer game electrocrutes the player when the lose a soldier. That might force them to worry about every computer sprite. -

Well at least it finally changed a little bit. I think if they would change their pics of CMBO. Maybe included some short movies of exciting action. Maybe better explanations of the game. And show off some of the diffrent mods for the game. So that people can see the graphics are improved over the old stock pics. I'm sure BTS loses some business because of how their site trys to sell Combat Mission. But its not so bad, most of the lost customers are probably in the younger crowd who would have to ask mom and dad for the credit card anyways. We already have enough of those kids around anyways. -
Have fun spending the next few days without sleep, testing out diffrent tactics and all the diffrent tanks.

Nope, yup we all wanted it once or twice.

how can be made custom squads and platoons?
Mr. Johnson-- replied to dor's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Go buy GI combat when it comes out. -
Remember if we are going to play with rarity on, it will mean those prices for diffrent tanks are going to fluctuate. So early game, Russkie players will not spend money on the T-34 and the German player won't even be able to buy the PZ-III lang. Then as time goes on, we might see both of these tanks being used as MBTs. Then we will see massive amounts of T-34s, and the German should be able to afford the upgunned PZ-IVs so, then it changes everything.

Design Issues for Russian IS Tanks

I've got an Antieam scenario if anyone wants to take a look. Just the morning fight. Plays pretty good. I think Its just infantry and guns, but I might have given the Federals a few tank reinforcments towards the end of the battle. Its got a nice ebb and flow to it. -

Old Dog's Subdued Low-Res is the best. I like high res mods, And I have a lot of them, but grass looks weird in high res.

My best result yet....

Can you recreate that score doing a similar battle but making it larger, like at least 1250? -
CMBB Command Needed: Assault Vehicle
Mr. Johnson-- replied to Col Deadmarsh's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
ASL Vet is right. There is no reason we should be tossing our infantry out in the open to die because the tank moved a few meters. When we want those infantry to sacrific themselves taken out that damn tank. it would be really nice. Otherwise BTS is telling us that we need 2 platoons minimum to go after a tank, placing a platoon everywhere a tank could go in 60 secs. -

A question on AFV purchasing and CMBB
Mr. Johnson-- replied to Cooper's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
interesting points. Anyone have information on all German Panzer HQ tanks? Which ones had guns, which ones just had mgs and a fake guns. will everyone try and buy the HQ Pzs that have main guns when CMBB comes out? Its going to be anthema for many people to have a tank on the battlefield that can't contribute to routing the enemy.
