  1. Mchlstwt At some point! Yes drag him in. There isn't that much detail (colour) photograph of the various scw vehicles on the net, most still remain in books somewhere.
  2. The present design restrictions for Operations make it difficult to design a coherent one. They can be designed but it's difficult. Hopefully in CM3 a more flexible and realistic method ology will be presented (we have faith in the Charles above)
  3. Two new SCW scenario are going up at Scenario Depot Quinto Del Ebro: The American 'Abraham Lincoln' International Battalion assaults a key village and fortified zone defended by Falangist fascists & Carlist militia backed up by Spanish Regulares and Guardia Civilia. This is a small operation of two battles. Batallion Thaelmann: German International Brigade counter-attacks the Spanish Foreign Legion on the outskirts of Madrid's University City.
  4. Yes that is the same solution I've been using, created in the Vizcaya scenario (a small one) a Caserio Leta. 'Quinto del Ebro' will be posted tomorrow along with '!Viva Cristo Rey!' and 'Thaelmann Batallion, Fertig Marchen' (small slice of the fighting around the Madrid University in 1936)
  5. Thanks Leta Needed that info, blew the grain fields so will have to replace with more pasture. The battle I'm creating says one of the roads was gravel. Will need to add a bit more woods too. Thanks for the info
  6. They seemed to have been relatively successful-at least they built them. Perhaps in an area with little enemy air or artillery assets and poor road communications they might be useful. Hopefully someday they will get modded-if for anything to see 'what if'
  7. Yes I found that I didn't realize about the cemetary NOT being next to the church - I was just finishing a small scenario in Vizcaya and need to change it. Fortunately I have been to Southern Spain so that is easy to model, Northern Spain remains a mystery What about a mini-campaign starting in August (I'm busy now and during the summer) with 4 players on the Republican and Nationalist sides Republicans Communists/socialist/POUM Basques Euzkadista Anarchists International Brigades Nationalists Carlists Falangist Moroccan (regular army) Italians Each side would be fighting one another but each player would have their own agendas and victory outlines? Just a thought - could use the outline of San Miguel valley for the series of battles.

  9. MikeT List of Vehicles I listed those because I believe (in the case of the Republicans) we can take the 1941 Russians and transform some of those vehicles into SCW AFVs. The stats remain the same but cannot the external look be modified?
  10. Some more equipment/troop types to consider for modding CV3/33 plus the flame version (probably use a German Halftrack for that Renault FT 17 Schneider CA1 tank BA 6 Chevrolet AC UNL AC Lancia IZM AC Bilbao AC FAI AC Various armoured (homemade) lorries (19, yes 19 different kinds) Schneider armoued bus Oruga 1 & 2 Host of gun types from 65mm howitzers to 155mm Uniform wise Carlist militia Carlist cavalry Falangist militia Foreign legion Galicians Condor legion troops Italian blackshirts Italian regulars Italian CTV "volunteers" Moroccan regulares Moroccan tiradores (Arabic sound files!) Madrilenos militias Anarchist militia Communist 5th regiment International brigades Basque militia plus Asaltos Guardia Civil Carabineros assorted riff raff Finally the Spanish Civil War was one of the last where unit used destinctive flags (banderas)
  11. Thanks Bardozy I'll be there for the 12th web conference, 19-25 May. I have put that location on my map!
  12. Yes Engel It should be as you stated, I misplaced my 'r' and 's'! It is correct, I cannot spell in neither Spanish, English, Japanese or Arabic : ]
  13. Contact this gentlemen jmcagi@terra.es and whose website is http://www.chema-cagi.com/ I believe he would know how to find these people. There is also Fernando at the company itself. Yes a Cmmos would be a good idea
  14. the only color picture I can find of the T-26 A captured T26 in Nationalist colors I believe http://mailer.fsu.edu/~akirk/tanks/spain/Spa-T26-color.jpg
  15. (mods) I will look for that, they had several different sets of marking, especially the ones captured by the Nationalist and used by the Moroccans. International Brigade vs own nationality Yes the most famous was the meeting of the Italian CTV during the battle Guadalahara with the communist Garibaldi Brigade - rather vicious. Several less well document encounters were Nationalist Irishmen (IRA reps) meeting the British Battalion outside of Madrid. Several meetings of white russian, Yugoslavs etc with their red/socialist counter-parts in the Dimitrov battalion and others. Plus a particular nasty meeting of the German Communist Thaelmann battalion with the Spanish Foreign Legion which included German and German speaking members members in 1936. Included I believe the sending of explosives (up and down) to each other in elevators during the fighting at Madrid University.
  16. This tread has inspired me to finish up some of my delayed tiny and small battles. One is at Scenario depot now, "Small battles, of cats and men". Tomorrow "Small battles, COSSACKS! ALARM!" will go up. Cats and men is actually a tiny one, somewhat difficult.
  17. I believe this was a short term solution to the T-34/KV problem, it was a short ranged muzzle loaded charge. I'm sure a grog will be along soon to give you more details
  18. Option is the key word. I see a field on the parameters screen Fords known? Yes, No, Percentage, chance of knowing For bridges known? Yes, No, Percentage With the yes the bridges and fords would operate as now. with no the bridges would have to be investigated (except a defender would have that knowledge) In percentage the attacker - from prior recon would have either a random amount of knowledge or one set by the designer. The knowledge would be status of the bridges and fords I would recommend bridge as: All (can handle anything, railroad bridges, large modern steel and concrete one) Light armour-all vehicles except heavy armour (probably above 35 tons) Wheeled vehicles only (light wooded bridges for farm and truck traffic) Foot bridge only. Similar breakdown for fords in regarding to what could travel there before bogging. These could also be applied to bridges due to damage. It would be a nice addition to the designers grab bag. Additionally I hope this would be tied in with military constructed pontoons and bridging ferries.
  19. There is a small CMBB community in Spain which is represented by a poster named Cagi-Chemi(?) he has been most helpful with local info. He is a good tie in with the Spanish (and many Italians because of the ir involvement in Spain) interested in SCW.
  20. YES, I find that the SCW is a excellent environment for CMBB. The opportunity for Mods in SCW is vast-and untouched. From the T-26s, to Carlist, POUM, Anarchist, Moroccan, Falagist and regular Spanish infantry with a variety of uniforms, to the Spanish Foreign legion, the American Abraham Lincoln Brigade to Pz Is, Italians, armoured lorries and bizarre homemade armoured cars - endless. I've done a number of scenario (at scenario depot) http://ns9.super-hosts.com/~dragonlair.net/combatmission/ on this and have a dozen more in the pipeline. Raid on Madrid Cerro de los Angeles Non Parasan! La Corunna Road 1936 Albandero coming soon Quinto del Ebro Batalion Thaelmann Sesena San Miguel Valley (operation-fictional) Jarama valley CTV University of Madrid etc
  21. JF Jaykey Let me explain a bit further. The idea is that the attacker (German in particular and other Axis too) would lack the local knowledge as to where fords are-the well known and used ones would be easily found but the lesser known ones wouldn't be and they were not often marked on maps. The problem with fords is their trackability, the shallow water is easy to find (usually fine for infantry - but is it too soft or too rocky for tracked vehicles and wheels). Deeper fords, 3-6 feet, don't show up well but are usable by troops (with difficulty, not by wheels but can be used by many tracks). The other problem with fords are the entry and exit points. These can be a real problem (with the lack of engineer support in CMBB)for wheeled vehicles and even tracked if the exit is a 1-3 meter embankment intergrown with trees. As a designer I would like some more control on this. This came up as I was trying to adapt a miniature battle to CMBB which centered around the problem of fords. During the Winter you have a similar problem - determinig ice weight bearing capabilities. Bridge weight carrying capacity can be estimated by (written tables were carried by engineers and officers) where the main structures/style of bridge could be looked at for the amount of weight it could carry. Example you find a nice shallow part of the river with a bridge. The question you have is? How much weight can the river bottom take before you bog, and how much weight can the bridge take before it fails? 2.5 ton truck, yep, 25 ton tank????
  22. Usually leaders (NCO's or Officers) may have had the training on doing a route recon and determing whether a ford was actually fordable (soil density/pressure etc)-or you could just run a vehicle or person(s) into it to see what happens? Your idea is good too, one could make the fords shiftable by random which would add a nice feature-certain fords would be known to all while some would be known to the defender while others would be unknown to all.
  23. May I suggest that a scenario designer could designate fording sites to be "undeteched" by either player (ie the player doesn't know if it IS a useable ford) ford were often not marked on maps and often shifted location due to water levels and other factors. A player would be able to determine if the ford was useable (and by who, infantry/wheel/track) by running a pioneer unit or leader up to it. The same thing could be said for bridges, all bridges could not support heavy tanks, the bridge load (and state of the bridge) could also be a random factor to be determined by players recon units. Hans
  24. I could see it being of some value to troops on the defensive or those making a deliberate assault against a heavily fortified site. (if only from a morale point of view. As noted I would grant users of such a bit more protection from infantry weapons and increased protection from HE frag weapons to include lowering the KIA percentage.(HOWEVER, I have no idea how Charles in his arcane and mysterious ways does this) However I would also slow them down and increase their rate of exhaustion - I'd also make them easier to detect if moving, nothing like steel on steel to tell the enemy "I'm here". An interesting option-add on, kinda like modeling the crews of tanks puting logs, tank treads and anything else on their vehicles to increase protection.
