Joe F replied to Jagdcarcajou's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Hi Jagdcarcajou, I think they are great an hope they become available for download somewhere soon. Pity about all the rules, but it is a good idea to use the medals instead, just in case. Ps, how about a new shortcut icon, the one supplied is terrible. CU, Joe. -

Hello all.. Fun reading, i love the PIC's, certainly brings back memories... I also had heaps of them, i loved the little green plastic tanks - landing crafts etc, (not the hard airfix kits that needed assembly). I also had a green fortification with a huge battery with 2 "Guns". I used to stage grand shore landings like D-Day. I always had a weak spot for the German troops and i can remember the allied taking severe beatings! (My favorite German was running forward with his rifle, i also liked the german officer firing his pistol) I also used the german officers as policemen with my matchbox cars. I also had some 7'th cavalry and lots of indians and cowboys - i used to play with my 8 year younger brother and build houses out of LEGOES make trades with the indians - rob banks etc etc - great times..... But my alltime FAVORITES was the Divers set, i used to play underwater wars and often took them to the TUB!!! Now ive got a 5 year old son and think its time to dig out the old plastic troopers!!!! ;o) Ps Kitty - Great letter, I wish i had known you as a kid!!! *S I was embarressed that i still liked playing with toy soldiers even when i was 14-15 years old. Are you a terrain/building mod nut?
Joe F replied to gunnergoz's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Hello Gunnergoz. I agree totally, its a totally new experience and great option to be able to change the look and sound of the game in such a simple way. (Thanx to all the GREAT artist out there who share their work.) I look for new mods nearly every day and spend alot of time finding the ones that suit my taste!.. I think it really improves the value of the game, i usually loose interest in a game fairly quickly, but Combat Mission has me coming back daily. Im certainly looking forward to CM2 and am proud to support Battlefront!!!! Regards, Joe. -

At what range should the sharpshooter start firing??? the maximum range or ??!? --------------------quote in a nice postion 1 SS can force your enemy to button all his armour or have his TC's heads blown off (ask PeteNZ) ----------------------------------- Should he start out hiding (thereby not firing) or is he hard to spot?? Please tell the story/tactic of this successfull sharpshooter - ps, give him an Iron Cross!!

so your sniper is carrying ammo for 5-10 minutes of constant shooting @ 5-10 rds per minute, or up to 100 rds of ammo. That is a lot for a sniper to use in a real battle situation. ???????? I was just wondering if they can actually kill more men during a battle then the 15 rounds they carry?? Also im im currently playing a great PBEM scenario - "Move it or Loose IT" Im the germans defending a town, i have 4 snipers but none of them has managed to make a kill yet, and they are all getting low on ammo 2-3 shoot left. (I haven't checked their Quality but think they are regular) - their targets have been around 100 meters - maybe i should use them for Ambushes instead. Will they also shoot at infantry platoons or only at HQ - MG - AT targets?? Regards...

quote:
Originally posted by Magua: Hi, I`ve made some ruined buildings (windows/doors knocked out, walls with holes in etc) which look ok but i cannot put them up for distribution at present because they use some Panzer Elite textures. I hope to change them to original artwork soon and then when i get them and a whole load of other stuff finished (i`ve redone just about everything but the vehicles) i`ll offer them up for download. These days i spend more time playing with textures than playing the game !

Sounds great - is it possible to get a copy for inspiration - if i dont use the files in the game. Regards, Joe.

Rabid Hamsters ???? The "Fleabomb" is a true story. Discovery channel - Mid 1999.
-
HI, Fun reading. I also saw a documentary descibing the "FLEA BOMB" a Japanese invention - They breed millions of fleas and gave them blood containg PLAQUE. These critters were to be placed in a bomb were the nose was filled with sand - No explosive material. The Bomb would be dropped as normal and 75% of the fleas would survive on impect and be spread out in a wide erea - They would seek out new hosts, hereby creating PLAQUE epedimic when drinking blood from their victims - as the virus would be transferred. Sounds unreal - dosen't it. They actually tested it on their own people in a small remote village (with a very small version of the plaque bomb) - and an plaque epedimic broke out killing 50 people. As far as i remember the facility was bombed by the US before they acctually used the devices (Maybe the were already suffering from fuel shortige etc).

quote:
Originally posted by Germanboy: Only if it was to toggle, and even then I don't think it would be that useful. I generally go by the 3-man representation to guide me as what to do with the guys. 3 - fit squad, can be used for anything, including assaults and close-assaults on active AFVs. Can do all this while not in C&C 2 - better be a bit careful, can still be used for attacks and in conjunction with other squads or close-assaulting AFVs in difficulties, make sure is in C&C radius 1 - flank security, scouting, flanking the enemy, must be in C&C to be useful. Of course you have to keep in mind the morale status as well, and that is a lot more important than the number of men I find. I have had a squad that was down to one guy (real, not graphic rep) and a platoon HQ do a flanking move on Berli and destroy an immobilised StuH42 behind his lines, while a 10 men squad of the same platoon simply refused to follow them. Difference was morale.

Is it 1-4 = 1 Man shown 5-8 = 2 Men shown 9-12 = 3 Men shown Please correct it if it's wrong. (I just recently downloaded the Demo and ordered the game). By the way, Germanboy - ive noticed you often refer to Hamsters in posts - what does this mean??? Is it just joking around or are you referring to germen infantry men or what?? Looking forward to your reply Rgs Joe F. [This message has been edited by Joe F (edited 08-11-2000).]

One thing that easily could be implemented and VERY USEFULL would be on option to turn on a visible number idicating the number of men left. I.E above the middle soldier. As i find it very annoying that i have to click on the unit and look at the bottom left of the screen just to find out how many men are left!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Regards Joe...
