  1. Jumbo, FYI, I brought this same topic up a few months ago. I got same replies you are now, no one from BTS responding, some players liking it, and some others not liking it. I hope BTS can add this as a OPTION to use in their upcoming games.
  2. Hey there, Kollos hangs head in disgrace. Battle hinged on 2 factors. ( WIDE open terrain. 2) wet ground. Could not even help as all the american mobility advantage gets bogged down. Battle went like this. Original group moves out. 2 shermans m4's 2 chaffes, 1 M10 TD, and 2 greyhounds, with 2 platoons of riflemen and 1 of engineers monuted on Ht. Also in suppot a 105 howitzer. The tracks and inf move out. 1 track boggs on turn 2. 1 sherman and the TD bog on turn 3. The other sherman and 1 chafee bog turn 5. Hoitzer lays smoke for 2 rounds before spotting a panther (FOW is great). The 3rd shot towords the howitzer kills it. Meanwhile, the bogged tanks are getting picket off 1 by 1. After of course getting gun hits on the td, 1 sherman and 1 chaffee. Of course it did not matter, as they were brewed up less than a minute later. Bottom line, if terrain is open, and the us armor has to deal with attacking over wet ground, it is pretty much hammer time for them. Congrats to Joeski.
  3. Um, I think the bracket is wrong. Kollos is playing Joeski. We are on turn 9 and it looks very grim for Kollos.
  4. Kollos vs Joeski. Lt. Russo looks over the land in front of him, and thinks "What in Gods name did I do to deserve this". Almost as flat as the eye can see. His orders "Take and hold the crossroads". On this beutiful May day, not a cloud in sight, and the grass damp from last nights rain, he moves forth.
  5. Im in Chicago. Willing to play any night after 9pm CST (Chicago). Or any time Sunday
  6. Just my 2 cents. 35, married, 2 daughters 4 years and 5 months. Learned to feed baby and play CM at same time.
  7. Hey folks, Just my 2 cents. Leave the costs.
  8. Hey, Also please note that the US air Force would record tank kills on already dead or abandond vehicles. Wittmans tank was already knocked out when the Air Corp bombed the heck out of the villiage. I am sure the pilot raced home to record another Tiger kill.
  9. Golfclap? Golfclap!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats all around. CM2s future looks brighter already.
  10. Hey, I like to have 3 - 6 PBEM games going at same time. That way, almost every day I have at least 1 or 2 movies to watch.
  11. Hey ASL Vet, If you are still looking for players, please send it to me. I would love to take it out for a whirl. jhormel@us.ibm.com
  12. Hello all, I felt a need to comment on certian threads and rants of other people with my own rant. Please take into account that I have read other threads regarding Gamey tactics and the like, but I wanted to throw my 2 cents into the matter without getting buried in another post. I am also well aware that these are my own opinions, and will probably be flamed faster than a Sherman facing a King Tiger, but so be it. In my opinion, there are NO such thing as a gamey tactic. Do you think that the Britsh found it gamey that the American revolutionarys did not stand in line? Do you think that the early WWII comanders found it gamey that the German Blitzkrieg did not hunker down behind long trenches? Do you think folks found it gamey to arm bi-planes in WWI? No, tactics always change. Now granted, taking a crew of a diabled HT, and assaulting a tank is a bit much, but after all, THIS IS A GAME. BTS has given us one of the best GAMES ever to be produced on a PC. If this was to be a true representation of WWII, only a select few of us would ever play with a King Tiger, and once they were destroyed they would not be seen again. "Gamey" tactis are to be planned for and expected from people who are trying to win GAMES. If you dont want a crew attacking something important, kill them. Cover your tanks with infantry support. Do different things. Expect the unexpected. If you dont, dont whine about it. Please note that I buy my PBEM troops as realistically as I can, without being a history major. Ok, I feel better now. If you are going to flame me, please do it with classs and style.
  13. Elijah Meeks, I disagree. In fact, when purchasing Elite troops, I find it more Un-realistic that all of my german tank commanders in March 45 are Vet, crack or elite status. It would seem to me there would be MORE instances of mixed troops, here, then at any other time. Ranging from Conscript infantry to perhaps 1 or 2 good squads of troops, or even a elite TC. Perhaps I am ranting a bit. It really is not all that important. Besides, if you know anything about how I purchase troops, or play games, I am anything but gamey. Smelly to some perhaps, but definitely not Gamey.
  14. Hello again, Chupacabra, I can see your post about people in a squad. My view is I would like to perhaps take Green Volkstrum units, supported by a veteran MG, and maybe a coule of Elite tanks. IntelWeenie, Thanks. I have not tried to create a scenario. I am just running QBs.
  15. Hey, Also, in same magazine, CM came into the top 50 games list. They send out a "Horay for an indy" line stating that it was pretty amazing to see a game rank so well without any advertisements etc.
  16. Hello out there. Maybe another "Newbie" stupid question, but I feel I need to ask. Why are you limited within 1 or 2 grades when purchasing troop quality? Espcially during the later portion of the war, was it normal to have 30 or 40 guys in the same unit all being high speed vets? I would think there could be a mix of Green troops put into units with veterans to help them along. Just needed to ask. BTW, I have yet to be assimilated, and am eagerly awaiting it. Thanks for a GREAT game and support.
  17. Hey there, I dont find it gamey at all. In fact, they were used on me in a recent PBEM. Sniper team killed Arty spotter while he was in a jeep trying to get to a good LOS location. I dont think there is much to be gamey about at all. If it works on the map, then so be it. I look at all things that work against me and learn to prepare for them in the future.
  18. Hey, I have seen this as well. Just my 2 cents, and maybe I was wrong, but I chalked it up to the fact that the rating of my crew was Green. After 1 guy gets knocked off for keeping his head out to long, the other crew members decide "No way mate, I am not sticking my head out there". Kind of like the low quality halftrack drivers that will not go over a hill because he has seen enemy activity there 4 turns ago. Like I said, I may be wrong, but it makes sence to me. Kollos out.
  19. Hey all, Being in computer repair for many years, please try these simple repair tips. 1) if you belive CD is bent, remove CD from computer. Place on level surface. Hit several times with IBM drive alignment tool (see under hardware/hammer). reinsert cd and try again. If the above does not work see step 2 2) Slaughter a goat on Firday at midnight. Spread entrails across keyboard while reciting Ohms law backwards. This will ward off evil spirits. Hope this helps
  20. Hey all, Schaumburg (thats 35 miles NNW of Chicago) Illinois. USA
  21. Hey all, Actually the coolest thing I saw was in a QB, my halftrack fires machine gun at a Brit MG jeep. The crew bails out, and the jeep kept rolling another 25 feet or so til it runs into a hous. Damn coolest thing I have ever seen in a turn based game. See ya
