  1. Open the game in 1.05 then save it. After that you can open it with 1.1. It worked for me. /Kristian
  2. Dell Wade, have you tried shift-p. That will show the movementpaths for all units. /Kristian
  3. Now that Ive finally learned to write, maybe I should learn to read. But its soooo hard. /Kristian
  4. Another solution is to open a webmail account. I know that Yahoo has a 6 Meg mailbox. That should take care of almost any file. But, and this is a BIG but, be sure to Zip or Stuff the file since Yahoo shows the whole attachment if it is a textfile, thereby forcing you to download it twice... But it will still work even if its very timeconsuming (unless you have fast connection). /Kristian
  5. Put them in the pbem folder. Then open them like any other PBEMfile. /Kristian
  6. Did anyone else bid on this? http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=459670179 /Kristian
  7. A related question. How do the bonus affect the squad and the hq itself? Ive always thought that it increases the expriencelevel by one or two (from reg to vet/crack). It works that way with the commandbonus and delaytime. If it works that way a reg squad with a hq with +2 bonus on everything should be just as good as an elite squad with a hq without any bounus. Am I correct? If the above is correct, then how is the hq itself handled? Does it give itself any bonus? Or is it only the command bonus that applies to it? Maybe someone has run a test on this. Im to lazy to do it myself. /Kristian
  8. One solution to the überpanzer-openmap problem is to always start two games with the same parameters, one for each side. So if someone really wants to play the germans on an open map he will also be facing them himself on the same type of terrain. Sounds fun? I dont think so. I always (well almost) play on maps with large hills and heavy forest. On those maps you can always find some cover while you are advancing. Try it if you havent done so already. Just my thoughts /Kristian
  9. I think that most people seem to be obsessed with the bigger guns and stronger front armour on the german tanks. But look at the gyrostabliser (sp?) and the fast turrets on the allied tanks. If you choose to play with the 75-rule I think that its the allies who have the upper hand. If you use them correctly that is. /Kristian ps Hofbauer, I LOVE your signature!
  10. Some quick answers which I dont find silly at all. 1. ? 2. Something Ive been thinking about... I think they dont target a burning building because they cant see it. Lots of smoke! And if its on fire it will continue to burn and produce smoke for the rest of the game. And even if it should collapse there will still be fire and smoke, so you cant still get a LOS through it. 3. The way I see it are that only some of the grenades leave craters which are big enough to give some shelter. A bigger gun probably has an increased chance of leaving a crater.I havent tried it but it would makes sense and Ive always assumed that it works that way. 4. I guess only BTS can answer that. But I wouldnt be suprised if real men on the battlefield usually run inte the forest even though it might provide less shelter than being in the open. /Kristian [This message has been edited by Graaf Spee (edited 08-23-2000).]
  11. Funny you should mention it. Back in the good old days, when the grass was greener, the sky bluer, the snow whiter and the sun brighter, BTS actually had a model competition open for everyone. But it didnt work out. I think it was because noone sent in anything. Anyway they took it away from the homepage. But maybe it would work better now with much more people visiting the board.
  12. I think it depends both on your playingstyle and the tactical situation. 1. A vet platoon deployed right can be almost impossible to beat. But if you make a mistake with them they die just as easily as a regular. So the way I see it if you take reg platoons you can do more mistakes (I do a lot) and still come out as the winner, unless of course your opponent uses his vets to their full potential. 2 . Another thing to consider is when you are on the defence. If you take 2 platoons of vets you can only defend in two places (unless you want to have units out of command), but if you take a company of regulars you can be in four places instead of two(using the company hq and one or two MGs). So I think regulars are a little more flexible than vets.
  13. Im going from memory now, but wasnt one of the reasons the germans liked it that it had a 60 rounds mag? I also remember reading somewhere that the germans tried to imitate this by giving the MP40 a quick way to change magazines by having two magazines next to each other. Then when the first one was empty you just pushed the second one into place. Not a very good solution because the weapon became unbalanced. Like I said before, this is from memory so I may be wrong. Anyone else?
  14. My suggestion is to let the player who starts the game name the file, and the other player just writes done after the filename when he sends it back. Example: Aachen01.txt should be returned as Aachen01done.txt. Sounds simple? Well it works for me anyway.
  15. Hetzer! This beautiful little tankdestroyer can do wonders any day. And its so cheap its almost gamey to use it or maybe its criminal not tobuy it. 85 points is nothing for what you get... its very small, good AP and AT capability and its sloped armour is enough to defeat almost anything the allies can put agains it. Disadvantages? No turret. But thats all. If you have to choose between having one Panter or one Hetzer and one smg-platoon AND still having points left I think the choice is easy. Or maybe two Hetzers if you think thats better How can you loose? Or maybe its just that it suits my usually defensive playingstyle? You tell me. /Kristian
