  4. Maneuver cannot properly work in CMBO simply because your opponent is likely to fight his men to the death, even if he sees he is outnumbered, outflanked, etc. In real life, with proper execution, one's maneuver units can topple the morale of the enemy force and force defeat upon him without fighting. CMBO is about fun, and players aren't about to surrender even if it means all their little virtual troops are going to die horrible, screaming deaths. Some elements of maneuver do work on the CM battlefield, however. For example, dislocation works quite well on large maps. If your opponent has carefully set up flak nests, pillboxes, or some other such weapon and you bypass it, rendering it useless without fighting it, you have successfuly outmaneuvered the opponent. This is never easy of course. Anyway, as redwolf said, there are numerous topics with dozens of pages devoted to the topic of maneuver.
  5. If I didn't finish beating the hell out of you already this would have given me major motivation.
  6. 1) A thread about this game is in the General forum. 2) The game comes out sometime in 2003! CM will come out no later then Fall this year, I think. We're looking at a 6 month difference no doubt.
  7. Bah. Ill cheer when member # 10000 gets here, thank you very much. (No offense #8000, you're still very special)
  8. When Im playing, I usually only find out an enemy unit's experience level after my own men have been in close quarter combat with them. Thus, I find it realistic. Why? I think combat troops would generally be able to tell the difference in performance between conscripts (forgetting basic drills, making stupid mistakes, looking like they are lost in the middle of a firefight), regulars (doing most of the drills, generally not doing as much mistakes, more or less coordinated), and veterans + (instinctively reacting to danger, shooting straight and doing things right, acting with coordination).
  9. Ive never played Tac Ops, but going by real life, the M113 should very well be able to fire and move at the same time. It is armed with a .50 machine gun which is quite effective against all soft targets, light vehicles and older Soviet BTR models included. The gun is also mounted in a little turret, I believe, which can rotate and has its own gunner. So why wouldn't it be able to fire?
  10. That sounds strangely familiar. Oh right, last night's "family get together". Whenever a female forces me into watching that sorry waste of 2 hours again, Ill be laughing at the end just from remembering this mp3
  11. The last time I did that my Mom blew up the neighbors in her King Tiger. Boy was my face red.
  12. I don't see it as being realistic for ground attack aircraft like the IL-2 to be purchased all by itself. To my knowledge, ground attackers were expensive and valuable to their respective sides, and so were not allowed to fly out without fighter cover much less all alone. Now, for the larger battles that feature battalions battling it out, large scale air support could be realistically expected. Whole squadroons were regularly employed to support the ground advance.
  13. During my early days of CMBO, I got into an armor game versus an uber-tank playing fellow who selected a wide open map. Little cover, and most of my AFV's were relatively light ones. Thankfully I bought a fighter bomber. Or so I thought. Once the bloody thing showed up, I expected my opponent's massed tanks to suffer heavy damage. However, nothing could be further from the truth. The fighter bomber actually proceeded to attack my AFV's, which were all spread out amongst the few available patches of woods and cover. From that day on, I have never ever purchased a FB willingly in a QB. The possibility of dealing some damage is not worth pulling all your hair out from frustration and looking like Madmatt.
  14. I don't know what we were thinking before...CMBB won't just be evolutionary - it will be as revolutionary as CMBO!
  15. Yaaaaaaaarrrgghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! Un modified game graphics!!! My EYES! THEY BUUUURRRRNNNN!!!!!
  16. Actually, I think there is just a slight change in elevation between the foreground with the buildings and the open space across which the soldier is moving. His lower legs are just hidden behind the elevation change.
  17. That was ubercool! The shot of the T-34 platoon on the steppes is now my desktop image. My brother, walking into the room and seeing my desktop asked if it was some color shot of WW2 I found on the net. *sniff* BTS, I'm so gosh darned proud of you's fellers!
  18. Why would they? The game is still selling well, and BTS are not big money publishing houses that can afford to drop a game's price after they sold half a million copies. I understand your situation, but $50 isn't anything to lose sleep about, especially when its a gift for a friend.
  19. Did they? I thought some people harped so much Steve said well maybe they just WON'T include them! Or was that the IS-3? Long time ago...</font>
