  1. Most favourite, perhaps, but I suspect not the most often used.
  2. I think you might be busy checking retailers for the next day or two.
  3. You are forgetting the "plus download" part. The download and mail delivery option will be 55 after the release date. </font>
  4. The discounted pre-order is about the same price as the retail version?
  5. It might help with server load if it's early GMT, or late GMT. You're reducing demand on one continent or the other. I hope it won't be the latter.
  6. Weren't these released a while ago? Either I've seen them before or I'm having a deja vu moment.
  7. I think BFC wants a bunch of them, and less work on each individual title.
  8. I think there's enough WW2 material to make a bunch of GAME's and MODULE's; Normandy, Market Garden, Bulge, Stalingrad, Kursk, Berlin, etc. I can't see what else BFC would want to get into, unless we'll back track onto theoretical Cold War, or Vietnam, for example. It has to be something that would actually sell enough units to make it worthwhile. ACW? Napoleanics? I don't see BFC being that into either period. CM:SLOD would be more likely.
  9. It doesn't mention that Wittmann started out in a StuG, a 75mm short, if I recall correctly. I don't see surviving over 25 months as a negative, either. Overall I thought the article was too full of national prejudice to take it seriously.
  10. You would hope so, given that it's the version Paradox customers will be receiving.
  11. I said around the time CM:SF was announced that political discussion were pretty much inevitable. We're only ever a comment or two from a political brawl. I do think, given the shenanigans at the time of the ToW release, that we could do with at least one more moderator. I think in general we're a mod short here. No criticism of the team, who have better things to do with their time.
  12. I think the fanboy comment has some validity, but you also have to take into account with any review what the reviewers tastes are. Aside from bugs and other technical issues the review is his personal opinion. In that sense it's a useful review for BFC because it gives an insight into a different gaming mindset.
  13. Well, what I meant was that on a general basis RTS and FPS games have had a more mobile defender. I think as wargamers we don't appreciate mainstream gamers view on tactics, which is more undisciplined. If you're coming to CMSF from that background the idea that the defender would sit and wait in ambush rather than maneuver is alien. You start blaming the AI, as in this review.
  14. I think the game would benefit - if it doesn't already have it - with a commented tutorial that doesn't just explain how things work, but why they work like that. You have to shake some players free from concepts of combat picked up from RTS and FPS games, where the defenders, for example, are much more mobile. The idea that the defender sits in place and, well, defends, is an anathema to these people.
  15. You do realise those who pre-ordered from Paradox will be accosting the postman every morning now, rather than just from the 27th?
  16. Well, here is the paradox, if you will; Paradox are obviously shipping it as is, either now or on release date, given that the discs have been cut, so... </font>

  18. I suggest you spin the testers wheels a bit faster. </font>

  20. Simple, BF does things by the numbers..would you expect or want it any other way? </font>
  21. The serious question this raises, of course, is if Paradox are shipping, and if the patch is almost ready, why wait for the 27th to open downloads?
  22. Paradox seem to have been ahead of the game from the start, in particular with reported release dates. It looks like comms problems between them.
  23. I would imagine sparks will fly otherwise.
  24. And with a strategy game that plays out in real time I think you have to make comparisons with classic RTS games. I think that's unavoidable. And from a strategy game perspective classic RTS has little depth.
  25. The thing that struck me about the review was that in wego the turn is resolved in real time, then played back. If that's the case, and you have to wait for a minute, then watch the playback, no matter how fast you can resolve the turn, it seems cumbersome.
