  1. You have to have a certain amount of information released to encourage posting, and the bulk of that has been third party rumour rather than fact. Quite frankly it's reached the point that I think the less we discuss the game the better. And that will remain the case until the release of the demo, when we really will have something to talk about. Expect this forum to become much more active then.

  3. You can almost feel the love. I'm disappointed there's no quick battle function, but hopefully that's another item added to the list for an update, or an expansion of some kind.

  5. I can see the jokes already with the yellow base for shaken units. It's good to see how it's shaping up, even as an alpha build.

I think we might be talking about two different things; the use of air recognition panels when on the march, and the actual tactical employment of armour, during which time I wouldn't expect to see them in use. It's comparable to the horse argument from CM. In essence it's out of scope. I can see use of the swastika in terms of victory flags and other system graphics, but in the actual game itself offhand I can only visualise it in helmet decals, which doesn't come into play, either.

  8. I think we were due to have an announcement at the time of the Russian release. It's peculiar that there's an annoucement on the Paradox site, but not here. I don't think that means all that much, but it does open the door to speculation. With this game's convoluted development cycle communication could have been better.

  13. I doubt you'd notice the effect in game, given the scale and the amount of activity, making it a waste of resources for the developer.
  14. Well, it's only natural people should concentrate on tanks when producing videos, given their visual impact. I don't believe for a moment that we're seeing the totality of gameplay from them.

  16. The still pictures just don't do the game justice. The tanks exhaust output, the rocking back when firing, crew members climbing in through hatches, those create an awesome atmosphere. It would be nice to see more of the infantry, but I don't think that will be resolved until we see the demo. As an aside, the videos use DivX, and I could only play them through the DivX player.
  17. As I remember from CC, it was useful to have that "we have reached our objective" notification. It isn't an issue with WEGO because you have those regular pauses to assess the situation. Will there be text or graphical notifications about current unit activity on the interface? For example, "en route", "at objective", "engaged"? I was thinking about C&C issues, but you might count it as an abstraction of situational awareness of a commander on the ground.

  20. I can't remember where, but I came across the quote somewhere from a member of a Heer formation that he felt more secure having an SS unit beside his. I think what certain SS units had, 1SS, 2SS, 3SS, 12SS, and perhaps 5SS, though I know less about them, was tenacity, derived from a commitment to the cause. With regard to the other SS divisions, at least the best of them, I don't think I'd put them ahead of the best Heer divisions. What helped the SS, of course, was being favoured when it came to formation and refitting. It's that quality and quantity of equipment, combined with an idealogical zealotry that sets them apart. But even then when you come to Lake Balaton you come to a point where even the cream of the SS divisions fall short.

  22. The thing is, Popov, the more time the admins spend here policing the board the less time they have for development work, so it's in our interest to attempt to maintain a certain level of behaviour here ourselves.
  23. Here is a idea, why don’t you and HOF get together and come up with a couple of adds that fit more to your taste. Then post them up so the entire forum can criticize every minuet historical contradictions. Anyone can sit there a dream up the perfect game or even the perfect advertisements , But the real question is what could you make ? </font>
  24. Hof, I'm not overwhelmed with certain aspects of ToW, but let's give it a chance. It might not be the most accurate represenation of WW2 possible but it does have it's merits, and it has potential as a series. I have the sense BFC are pulling it around in the right direction and for that I think they deserve our support. We've all made our points and I would hope they've been duly noted. In the end I'd much rather see your knowledge put to positive use here than in pointless sniping. To continue that would be a waste.
  25. I think from a marketing perspective it's a terrific ad. And that matters more than what senor uber picky thinks about it.
