  1. And one would have to be a total sponge to be reading Harry Pooter.
  2. Sorry to hear that Speedy. I just went to a funeral last week for my cousin who was a Marine Corps D.I., so it looks like I'll be tipping a few more.
  3. His front isn't any more appealing. Or any other aspect, for that matter.
  4. 17 pdr. Design started in 1940, entered service in 42. Not really based on the 88 though. Just a good high velocity gun. Didn't need to. We were giving them away on Lend Lease. Note that the B-29 was reverse-engineered and built in 2 years though. Just didn't want to see any chance of help in a tech increase being ruled out. I agree we're just arguing over the percentage, with 0% not a good historical option. All rather moot if a player never invests in that tech though.
  5. Ever see a Russian TU-4? link I believe the Panther was pretty heavily influenced by the T-34 design. Clued the Germans in on what could be done with sloped armor. But your right on other aspects, it does take awhile to retool. However, captured equipment was heavily studied to learn it's flaws too. So in game terms, you may not want to eliminate some chance of a tech upgrade help just to reflect that.
  6. Disbanding units should be gotten rid of just for the reasons you pointed out Desert Dave. Very gamey, imho. But on the counterintel preventing help on tech advances. Shouldn't it depend on the tech? I mean, if you capture a T-34, pretty easy to reverse engineer it.
  7. Not if you've spent your day designing a P-38, a P51-D, a F4U-1, and are about to start in on a B-25. Hmm, do the B-25B out of respect for Doolittle? Or go for later model with a wild paint job? Hmm... Oh yes, Speedy, it really does suck to be you.
  8. Chers pieds de grenouille We're trying to teach him the importance of a void in communications. Yet he just keeps going and going and going....
  9. Once you figure out the strategy to beat it, yes, that'll work every time. After that, the fun is in, "How do I beat it if the Axis/Allies did this instead...?"
  10. What do you mean? The dumb*ss hit that 31 foot cruiser spot on. That takes some kind of skill, especially at night. Me, I drink too much and miss the buggers every time.
  11. Well, if the tart was retarted, I suppose she would get a little leathery the second time around.
  12. And even the Aussies laugh their fool heads off. Frickin Kiwis, growing wine in a gravel pit... Where do you grow the cheap plonk for domestic consumption? The sanitary landfill?
  13. Because after all, what's a good caning without a toe-tapping ditty, eh? </font>
  14. A perfectly good Cesspool rant or two gone to waste. Do not hurl abuse on the Outerboards, 'tis not the proper place.
  15. Rarity is fun. Adds some interesting decisions on what to buy. And usually keeps the uberkitties off the field. Usually... Really Thomas, you opened up a whole can of worms here. What to buy depends heavily on mission, terrain and opponent. Just to take the defense, when you see the setup parameters, think back on the scenarios you played. In the given situation, did you enjoy having that hidden AT gun (or a bunch of them) on defense or was it worthless? Would you rather have had a tank or two that you can move around instead? Are you going to mount a counterattack? Or just sit back and shell the snot out of the other guy? Experience is the only thing that will help. You'll get it wrong from time to time. But so what? Go down fighting and learn some more.
  16. Sorry birth didn't go well for you. {hah! thought I was going to take the low road, didn't you?
  17. Artists who put big rocks in front of the good bits should be shot?
  18. 350 miles of river running, 10 locks & dams, and all at about a beer per mile and two per lock & dam. My advice, don't drink Budweiser for awhile. I sent a lot of effluvia down towards St. Louie. btw, the canine rescue mission is on for tonight.
