  1. So stoked to be playing the next CM! Thank you, Battlefront! About waypoints... CMx1 you could move a waypoint by clicking on it and dragging it to wherever you wanted -- is this not possible in CMx2?
  2. Is that real, Yuvuphys? And how current is your Norton install? ;-)
  3. I thought it was customary to post a link to the purported demo that in fact redirects the unsuspecting user to a Rick Astley video...?
  4. ROW IV is about the most fun I can remember having with a video game. If there's a waiting list, please add me!
  5. Where's the link to the secret bones-for-preorders thread? I must have missed that on the way in...
  6. Hey guys, I've been a BF customer since the first CM. Love, love, love the games you've done. Not only historical, but also excellent examples of game design. Haven't picked up Shock Force (yet), because modern wargaming isn't really my thing. That said, I've been lurking, I'm excited about the upcoming Normandy game, and finally decided to give SF 1.11 a go. I downloaded the demo, installed, and just clicked through the installation process. I'm a little bit unhappy to find that the demo tried to replace Google as my default search engine (it was blocked) but successfully added a line to my IE header. I know, I know, I should be careful about click boxes and should read what I'm agreeing to. But I never thought I had to bother checking what I was agreeing to with you guys. My bad. Now, how do I remove the added line from IE and the little BFC logo (like you weren't already bookmarked? you're hurting my feelings!) because none of the easily-accessible menu options seem to want to do it for me. Thanks in advance!
  7. Multiplayer PBEM with the CMx1 games were about the most fun I've ever had with a video game. I can't wait for the WW2 iteration of the CMx2 engine. Mid to late 2009 seems so very, very far away.
  8. Ummmm, do these spotters have radios? Spotters without them are laying wire as they go and as I recall cannot embark on vehicles. Or it's just early and the coffee has yet to take effect.
  9. Arthur, I don't think you were being accused of being a neo-nazi. You have, however, stumbled upon a board where there is a gaggle, a profusion, a veritable cornucopia of hard-core "grogs," nearly all of whom will take offense to your overbroad generalization of the relative merits of the german soldier, which I assume is based on video games or the like where "leet" German uber-weapons (and by association uber-leet-infantruppen) rule the battlefield. What I think you meant to say was probably more along the lines of "Man, those Mk VI's are hard to kill when all you have is a lone Sherman" or "some high-quality formations of German infantry were able to defeat larger numbers of less well-trained allied infantry formations."
  10. Yikes, I guess it's apparent who the weak link in the Group 3 playoffs is.

  13. Hey, thanks Combined Arms Actually, I sent all five in today, I'd been sitting on the last one. Deadlines are good things!

  19. I'd appreciate it if an allied player of Squeezing the Melon would send the password to brycewbaker@hotmail.com ... I remember I had some mnemonic or somesuch, but now that I'm sitting down to finish my AAR that's about all I can remember
  20. CPT T -- My emails to you are still being refused, with or without attachments. I think it has something to do with the security or perhaps anti-spam settings on your email account, the message I get back with the bounced emails is: Diagnostic-Code: smtp;550 5.7.1 Mail Refused - 208.253.250 - See http://security.rr.com/mail_blocks.htm#security - 20030323
  21. Has anybody heard from David Travis lately? My emails to him are getting bounced.
  22. I don't think the game engine currently allows anything to hit the gun itself. Guns, AFAIK count as "soft-skinned" targets and so the AI targets the ground beneath it, not the gun itself. This is most noticable with the "unhittable gun" bug thread that was running here of late where a gun over the crest of a hill or ridge is rendered unhittable because the AI is trying to aim for the ground underneath the gun instead of the gun itself.
  23. Any chance this will make the 1.03/1.02a patch?
  24. Sent! And I sure as heck hope it doesn't make me look like a doofus!
  25. I'm not sure if the movement of prisoners will cancel a fire order already in place, but I beleive the opposite is true - if you issue a fire order that isn't being carried out because of the proximity of a captured friendly, and halfway through the turn the captured friendly moves to a point more than 20M distant from the area fire target, firing will begin. Unfortunately, I think my employers would frown on me running a test during working hours.
