  1. Interesting - who are you playing as? I had this problem originally, so I restarted the entire campaign from the beginning and the problem was resolved.
  2. LOL.. What's wrong with that? I've played the Marines campaign through to conclusion twice, the British campaign through to conclusion three times now and have started the US army. That's what its all about isn't it? They are semi-dynamic too, so certain things change.
  3. 9.10 are best for ATi at the mo. 9.11 do not work with Ansitropic filtering apparently. But with both sets you need to experiment a little.
  4. Guys, as frustrating as it is, you need to restart the campaign. I have tried restarting the scenarios, at various stages and could not get it resolved. Restarting the campaign from fresh is the best way to fix it!
  5. I just noticed this too. I was wondering if it was command delay - because it does change after a few minutes. Also what do the green lights turning to red lights mean?
  6. Yeah if you restart it you get access to all the artillery once again.
  7. hehe chill out mate. You are obviously trying to replay a scenario since upgrading to 1.21? Unfortunately you need to ideally restart the campaign in order to get the new toys and things to work properly, as intended.
  8. How do you select shadows "off"? I only have two options for best/fastest textures etc.
  9. Thanks for the replies. This is what I was harping on about when I was talking about 1:1 representation not working *that* effectively. It's all very well to represent your soliders and other units 1:1 but to leave out *other* factors that are equally important, well that's suckage really and blows rather large chunks. I can understand the reasons why they have been left out, but in my opinion it's not fun. At least we wont have this problem in Normandy! Although come the Russian front, suicide dogs anyone?
  10. Hola Blackcat, I'm undecided if it is a glitch or not. It just seems odd doesn't it. I'm not entirely sure the 1:1 representation always works effectively, but it's certainly not BFC's fault from what I can make out. There is just too much data to continually compute. I have also seen the problem you mention, several times actually. I've put it down to other things, like smoke in the way, or haze or something. I had a T72 as it happens, in full view of my men, various squads, and a Challenger 2. Unfortunately none of my men or my tank would fire, and the T72 could. I was cresting a ridge too!
  11. I tend to agree with you here, although let's not forget this is at 3(ish) in the morning. Fog of war definitely plays a part but there wouldn't necessarily be that much civilian traffic on the road - that's why the mission was due to take place at this time, to limit civilian casualties, so I still find it very odd that this car was not seen at all. And even if there was traffic, the threat would be so high, that every moving vehicle would be seen as a potential target. If my men can see vehicles way in the distance, it makes no sense why they couldn't spot a vehicle right under them. It's not the point that the vehicle was an IED, it's the point that I couldn't see the unit on the map whatsoever. I had no chance to foil the attack (in a balanced Combat Mission world of course).
  12. Maybe you are right. Indeed, he killed 18 men and knocked out my vehicle with one IED, plus my machine gun team fled as they panicked. You say density, but the thing is, you can see civilian vehicles as well as IED. My point is, this car was not seen as a unit on the map at all prior to the explosion, yet I had good LOS all around. (You can see other cars). As it was an IED you would have expected my men to spot at least a vehicle would you not? You can see other civilian vehicles all over, even if you can't identify them as IEDs unless you get close (read until it's too late!).
  13. I have just been blown up by a vehicle borne IED, which I didn't see. But the thing is, my eyes on the ground were in LOS and they were spotting. They also had night vision. There was nothing close, surely if there was a large car in the way, they would have seen it for one thing, and lit it up for the second. Check out these screenies. It doesn't make sense to me. Understandable if it was a hidden IED, but a car in full view??? My machine gun team had full LOS of the road ahead, and would have spotted and fired upon a vechile borne IED. Lots of unanswered questions here. Edit, sorry the screen caps are so small, can redo if necessary. Also, those two screen caps were taken within seconds of each other - not enough time for a car to travel the distance unspotted surely?
  14. Thanks for all your replies, I have enjoyed reading them. Well I finished the battle this morning and was awarded my first victory! Yay! Having said that, it was only a tactical win, and I did take some casualties. There is a very steep learning curve associated with this mission. My casualties were 16 KIA, (mostly crew from the Warriors unfortunately), 10 injured, with a Challenger 2 destroyed, although 3 of the crew survived to fight another day. I lost 8 other vehicles too which was painful considering I had only lost 3 vehicles in the entire campaign to date. Syrian casualties were predictably higher, with 94 KIA, 61 injured, 32 missing. They lost 7 T72s and 16 BMPs. I now am faced with another mission, which I haven't played before, so it's quite exciting. I haven't been able to progress further than this.# By the way, I tried the ADJUST fire missions with regards to the artillery and it is my new friend. It really helped. I set a couple of blind targets initally, set mission to ARMOUR, and LIGHT, and kept adjusting accordingly using linear for the most part. The adjustments would take a minute or so compared with the three minutes required for a new mission. So it was a significant improvement. I have not really understood how to use this before, so thanks for all the tips!
  15. Yes that is a new feature deemed more accurate (I think!). Only certain units can now call in artillery support, with the FO offering the best accuracy and time considerations.
  16. Yes, poor performance from Nvidia I think the 185.16 (possibly?) are the best drivers for CMSF currently. Do a search to see which ones are now best, there have been a few threads about it.
  17. Roger that. I did try to place a few of my guys on the flanks, and I have just worked out how TARGET ARC works too.. Doh! I will have to rethink my positioning - win or lose it here.
  18. I wish! I only play WEGO as I can't control realtime without hitting PAUSE constantly!
  19. You make some very sound points Blackcat - funnily enough I am really struggling with the "counter-attack" mission now. Suppression does not seem quite as effective as it is for the US units. This is what I meant by having to change tactics. Whereas with the Marines and the US Army my little British troops appear more vulnerable. I don't really have that much experience with prior patches but they seem a little unbalanced in my opinion in 1.21. If you get them within that magic 300m and you aren't in cover the AKs mince them up easily. I guess that could be said with the other sides, but these Brits just seem to fall quicker. Until this mission I have had no experience of a Challenger 2 missing its target. But tonight it took 4 shots for my Challenger 2 to knock out a T72 within a small distance - 500m or so! I couldn't believe it actually. First time I have seen that, and I hope it isn't a reflection of things to come. Curiously, Warriors and other vehicles seem more accurate, although maybe it is just perception as they have a faster rate of fire. I am just getting to grips with the campaigns and the default single missions, I haven't tried any other scenarios yet. To be honest I don't like infantry only battles in this theatre, they will be too challenging for my little brain.
  20. But how do you shift it over without cancelling the order and replotting? Presumably you use the ADJUST command?
  21. ha, you must have got very lucky then! ;-) I've hardly even damaged a T72 with my AT rockets and that was after several apparent direct hits. But I have destroyed plenty of BMPs with them.
  22. Interesting. I rarely use LIGHT artillery missions due to time contraints but in this instance it may just work - so do you use ADJUST in order to creep the barrage forward/back? I can set two pre-determined points on the map and adjust accordingly. Brit FO's call the fire missions within 3 minutes, but that is still too long when you are being charged by BMP2s. Maybe the creeping barrage as above will work? AT4's? As in hand-held rockets? My guys do have quite a few, but they are only ever good against BMPs, forget it against the T72's. I haved fired many against one tank before with no apparent effect. Thanks for the comments. I will try again!
  23. Tried it, another disaster! Ended up quiting in frustration! I tried to hide my Challenger, and he destroyed two T72s before he was knocked out himself. Problem was he popped smoke, and withdrew into the fire, rather than staying put! What a numpty! Then I lost all my warriors which were hidden well back in-between the houses. Some had LOS others were well out of the way, but it didn't really matter as within ten turns the enemy had advanced so far forward the AI went crazy. You don't get artillery until well into the fire fight, and because it takes so long to call it is really difficult to plan accordingly. I did manage to knock out half a dozen BMPs or so with 155 AP however. I quit with two T72s right at the end of the map, taking pot shots. I had nothing to counter it, and when my reinforcement arrived (a single tank) he was plonked right in the LOS of one of them which was nice! I even had direct hits on him with 155 AP, to no effect it would seem. Oh, and then.. to add insult to injury the AI artillery started and he was right on target! All my men that had dismounted from the trucks/warriors were in the path of enemy airburst. Fun, not! I think the next time, sod staying back, I'm going to attack!
  24. Thanks for your quick response. I've stuck my sniper teams in forward positions with good line of sight, hopefully at least they will be able to tell me what is being thrown my way. I'll also want to get a FO team up front asap, but I don't want to risk losing them either so I need to be careful where I place them. The rest of my unit is behind the front lines at the rear of the map, as you have said. Is it worth sticking a solitary vehicle near the front or perhaps even a few men, to try and hold up the advance? Or wouldn't you bother?
  25. I've played this mission twice and on both occasions I have been soundly beaten. The second time, worse than the first. I am about to play it again for the third time. I know what I'm up against, and how the enemy try to flank quickly, but I only have a single Challenger at my disposal until reinforcements arrive. I have no other significant AT assets other than AP shells in my AFVs. I have no Javelin teams or anything, and I'm really not sure how best to approach this one.
