amen brother

rob/1, your enthusiasim really is admirable, but i think people might be a little frightened to install it.
-
that film is really bad. it was strangely bi-gendered conceived (a love story that is also a gory war movie). i don't think there were more than a couple plausible things that happened in the whole movie.

earth to maximus: the game is not in a perfect state. there are things that can be improved. given the support bts gave to BO, i expect CM2 will be more than data and texture changes. if not, CM2 will still be a very good game, but the series will be heading in the wrong direction.

i am not a programmer, so i probably should not talk out of school, but: you have an ai "marker" for a sighted threat; why erase the "marker" when the threat pops smoke?
-
obviously, bf's customer support has been fantastic and responsive, and cm is far and away my all time favorite game. and i am sure i will preorder cm2. but i got burned for $45 on cc4 (same crap, different maps). if cm2 is just new data and textures, i will proceed cautiously on cm3. if cm2 includes 1. improves the ai routine to include "memory" threat recognition, rather than just los, and 2. a interface improvement for the moving of groups of units, i will preorder cm3 as well. just one customer's voice in the wilderness.

it looks bizarre in its current form.

a new engine at cm3? that sounds fair enough.

i'd give you an honest opinion if i knew what an lr mod is. do you want the opinion of a casual mod user? -
A CM "victory": What is it really trying to model?
crumply replied to Lt Bull's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
i don't know enough about military doctrine to understand how they evaluate the success or failure on a tactical level. probably loss of life and material would be analyzed differently by different sides. -
is bf going to go the way of atomic? same game repeated in a series of what are more or less "add-ons" and marginal technical improvements? (the ai in cc was funny as hell--after five tries, it only got worse). in cm2, will a tank still switch target to a panicked crew, and expose it's flank to the enemy tank that just popped smoke? processing power allowing more complex ai routines should be available by time cm2 will be released. will the routines improve? (and i understand ai is hard as hell to do). i really hope it is something more than new data and textures.

a good post. rt now it is modeling number of units killed x cost - losses + proximity to vl/100 squared, or something. i can't imagine a wargame without vls--somedody should, and they should put it in CM2. -
Desert Fox Desert Mods for Afrika Corps in CM2?
crumply replied to aka_tom_w's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
good luck. bts is in business, after all. -
you reinstalled (for lack of a better term) the mod, yes?
-
why are the allies such crap?
crumply replied to securityguard's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)

How about Dynamic scenery generation for CM 2?
crumply replied to Zamo's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
close combat also comes to mind: the same game in five different (sort of) settings = Chapter 7. -
i really like the cardboard vickers, even more than the flat trees

i am afraid i can't give any tips on an asus. i had a VR set of glasses that didn't work for ****. the elsa's are almost like plug and play.
-
i just got a pair of ELSA 3d glasses. CM looks really fantastic with them. i hope the mod makers get to see their work in 3d sometime.

you seem to be confusing this with another certain computer wargame series
