Why do THEY get it first???

Hi Mom -
To My PBEM Opponents - I've been hit by Virus!
Teutonicc replied to Frenchy's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
AS mentioned above if your are interested in security then I would definetly recommend WWW.GRC.COM and go to the discussion groups. A free Anti-virus program that is pretty good is Anti-vir from WWW.FREE-AV.COM. Another good site is WWW.NSCLEAN.COM they have programs that will help with viruses and trojans(although not free there is a money back guarantee. Another not free program but does have demo is The Cleaner from WWW.MOOSOFT.COM. I run Zonealarm free and then scan with Anti-vir and the cleaner at least weekly. Both anti-vir and the cleaner do have active monitors if you want to have them running in the background. Hope this helps someone. Teutonicc -
My CM cd had two rings about a 1/4 inch wide on it. I think it happened because it never left the drive. I found a very good product for cleaning up a CD with scratches. It is called the Game Doctor. It comes in two flavors, hand crank and electric. It costs About $29.99 for the hand crank and $39.99 for the electric(prices approx). I know it was worth the cost to save my CM disc. What's new with the Forum???
Teutonicc replied to aka_tom_w's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
I will have to third the request for some different background color this white is very hard on the eyes. I do a lot of reading of this board late at night with the lights out so as not to disturb my family and the bright ness is a killer. Just thought of something, anyway to get a bar at the bottom of the posts like the one at the top: the one that has the links to which forum you want to go to. Ok so I am lazy and don't want to have to scroll all the way back to the top to click back to the forum. [ 04-07-2001: Message edited by: Teutonicc ] -
This Quote is from a caption on pg 69 of "Stalins's Heavy Tanks 1941-1945 The KV and Is Heavy Tanks" by Zaloga, Kinnear, Aksenov & Koshchavtsev. "The Is-3 entered production in May 1945. It did not appear in time to participate in the war in Europe. However, a few regiments were dispatched to Manchuria for the war against Japan, but it is not known if they saw any actual combat." OT- Ram prices for PC dropping like a stone!
Teutonicc replied to Tiger's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Another tweak for the Swap file. Goto Start/program/Accessories/System Tools/System Monitor. Goto Edit then select Add Item Memory Manager scroll down to Swap file size and select. Now let this run for a day or two and run most of the programs that you normally run. Look at the graph and see what the highest amount of ram used was and set your minimum swap file to slightly larger than that. I have found that leaving the maximum allowed does not slow anything down. Teutonicc -
Sounds good. Sign me up please. no pref. Teutonicc

Bts, Madmatt, Kwazy, Just a suggestion. How about posting parameters for testing(map setup and how many tests) and letting us run the tests for you. I am sure there would be plenty of volunteers . It would give us something to do instead of posting about it and let you get back to work on CM2. Teutonicc

Yes Jeff. The squads shooting at the halftracks will use their guns and grenades until the halftracks button then they stop shooting and use grenades only. On a different note I did test this out with mg42 heavy machineguns and .50 cal machine guns. These seem to work correctly. Same setups as above with the buildings. All halftracks abandoned or destroyed most time within 30 seconds one lasted as long as 1 minute and a half. I have run some tests also. I put three m3 halftracks(conscripts) loaded with squads ranging from veteran to elite in them in a clearing surrounded by woods. level terrain no knockouts, all abandoned by turn 3. all infantry inside no casualties. run same test except surrounded by buidings some knockouts but still most abandon with no casualties to the troops inside the halftrack. the squads attacking were rifle 44 elite crack and veteran with elite hq with +2 bonuses and no fausts. It looks like passengers are invulnerable to casualties. I haven't gone back to 1.05 or earlier to see if they would have taken casualties or not. I have noticed that once the halftrack buttons the squads stop using their rifles and machine guns. Teutonicc [This message has been edited by Teutonicc (edited 02-13-2001).]

Disappearing captured unit. Bug?
Teutonicc replied to Teutonicc's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Well then the jeep that moved right next to their last positon(about 10m away and about 20 seconds later) and killed the sharpshooter did not see them. I don't think they could have recovered and started moving by then. Teutonic -
Day in the Cav(spoiler info) * * * * * * * * I was playing A Day In The Cavalry op, when one of my shocked mg jeeps was hit a second time and the crew bailed. They then proceeded to surrender to the sharpshooter. About 10 seconds later they disappear. Their is no body. The sharpshooter appears to shoot through them to another target but like i said no bodies. I had them highlighted and it just goes back to the turn info display. Teutonicc

Big site update, new mod, and a poll!
Teutonicc replied to deanco's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
My vote is for the Grog interface. On the side panel note, I run in 1600x1200, does this mean that the 1024x768 version would not fit in the side panel fully. ------------------ Teutonicc -

How do you install 2 copies of CM
Teutonicc replied to TankDawg's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
When I went from 1.03 to 1.04 and then 1.05 I just renamed the exe file before bringing the new one in. I then pointed my shortcuts to the version exe file that I wanted to play. As for playing with different mods you need to keep switching them out unless you want to have multiple setups on you harddrive . I suppose you could make different bmp directories based on the mods you want to play and then just copy into the bmp directory the game uses. Need big Hard drive for this one tho. ------------------ Teutonicc -
What happened to Panzers after the war?
Teutonicc replied to The Commissar's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
The Syrians used some(from France)in 1965 to shell the Isrealis(spelling). The Isrealis knocked them out with their centurions. The Syrians again used the Pzkw IV(aquired from spain) in the six day war in 67. It is said that the last of the Mark IV's was taken out by an Isreali Sherman sporting the French Long 75mm. ------------------ Teutonicc -
snipers or sharpshooters in CM2?
Teutonicc replied to Waxx_IK's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Going through my list of books I wish I could get right now, I came across a listing for "The German Sniper 1914-1945" by Senich, 445pp, Complete history of the German sniper in both workl wars, his technique, theory, camouflage, and most improtantly his weapons. Extensive coverage of the rifles used and the different scope mountings and designs. Also includes first person accounts from German sniper veterans who were masters at their art. Haven't come across anything from the Russian side yet. Thought this might be a good place to start some research for CM2. This listing is from Warfield books inc @ http://www.sonic.net/~bstone/eastfront/ground.html It is also a couple of months old and I have not checked if they still have it in stock. ------------------ Teutonicc
