I just finished restoring a Mauser Model 98 (8mm) and I love it. Needed a lot of work to bring it back from the dead. It is the first "classic" rifle I have bought, and I am planning on shooting with it in a CMP qualifer so I can buy a couple of M1 Garands. I bought the Mauser because 1) it was the primary firearm of German troops and 2) it has something of a historical value. I found out that restoring the rifle was more fun that shooting it. And, as a bonus, it shoots like a dream. To bad H&K doesn't sell MP5's to the general public. THAT is what I really want. Ummmm...seeing that you are a junior member, and I really don't want to see you get flamed to death, learn to use (no wait, love) the search feature before posting questions of this type. Old timers (as well as some middle-timers like me ) have seen this question or some variation of this question a couple (hundred??) times. But, don't think I'm trying to hammer you here..just want to let you know. To answer your question: CM2 - Eastern Front CM3 - Italy, North Africa, et al. No plans on a Pacific variant. If you are looking for photos, go to www.nara.gov (National Archives). Poke around there, you should be able to find some good stuff. Use NAIL (the searchable database) and you can search for pictures by topic. Hope this helps.

Full and complete...still having the problem. I think I'm going to chalk it up to a crappy soundcard and figure out someway to justify it as a business expense.

Passthrough card = One video card and one V2 card hooked together by a cable. Combo - both V2 and video in one. Have you updated the drivers on your regular video card? Have you overclocked your V2 card? I know on my Soundblaster V2 card I can overclock the card through preferences, but when I did the system started acting goofy so I just went back to the default. Just a couple of ideas.....

This is happening with the full version...when I start the game, the intro music stops but it stutters and even sometimes skips forward. And, I'm noticing (now that I bought headphones) that the battlesounds are doing the same thing (not bad, just at the start). I've tried to see if maybe it is happening when the hardrive is being accessed, but that doesn't seem to be the problem. I have a Soundblaster PCI card (cheapo, at work so I don't know the type)with the most recent drivers. I also turned down (not off) graphics acceleration in 98. I'm stumped...any ideas?

Hilmer: When it locks up at the loading 3D features, can you hear the battle and background noises? When I updated my Matrox card with the new drivers, I ran into this same problem (along with a host of other 98 issues, but I digress). Is your V2 card a passthrough card or combo?

while sorting out my order problem last week Steve mentioned in an email that he was going to take a week off...that was on 7/6. I say much deserved time off. Oh yeah..the game is a riot. Not to start another CC V CM war but I find it far better in simulating combined arms warfare than Close Combat. Just an observation and personal preference, so don't flame me! [This message has been edited by vcents (edited 07-11-2000).]

Couple of questions: I assume you are running 9x/NT..when you click to start the game, does the screen flicker/go to black or just sit there? Also, when the game doesn't start after starting it try a Ctrl-Alt-Del and see if it is running in the task list. If it is running then something is stopping it. Most likely Voodoo2 drivers...make sure you have downloaded the latest reference drivers for Voodoo2. Try www.3dfx.com they will have the latest reference drivers for the card, as well as links to the major card makers. Also, for a quick fix, try uninstalling/reinstalling the game. Let me know what you find out.

Supertanker.... Your sniper was issued a M1-D? I didn't know those were issued. My uncle got one in a CMP lottery last year...got all the goodies..scope, leather cheek pad, cleaning kit, sling. Matches his 4 other M1's real nice!

Ok, downloaded the 1.02 demo and fired it up with the new fancy pants explosions and such. But, when smoke is fired it looks all blocky. I downloaded the drivers for my Voodoo2 card but it didn't help any. Wagner...really really loud! Make that armor rush with Ride of the Valkyries playing and you'll get chills! Also, play Siegfied's Funeral Music in the setup phase and it should ad to the pre-battle tension.
