Ahh thanks for all the comments. I usually go for a full scale mission, and you're right, i should scale down so i can practice the small nuances first. I knew some of you were the old boardgame freaks. (freak in a good way, promise =) ) And thinking of how it was in the old days, i guess this is a breeze. As for the DoD Half-Life mod, i play it every now and then, i get in the top 5% of the scoreboard, good fun. I do need to practice. It's just frustrating reading about how to use spotters for mortars, put him on a hill, and have nothing happen, then curse the game out. Try to be strategic with tanks only to be shot to hell. But i guess with time, and small battles the peices will come together. The funny part is that i read this Mboard everyday, even though i've played the game 5 times in the past 3 months. You guys make up THE best gaming community in history. Thanks for everything. -KOP

I bought CM as soon as it came out and it had a surprisingly short life span for me. Why? Cuz i'm a twitch gamer. I was raised up on Quake and other competitive FPS'. WHen playing CM, i attempt strategy and the like, but end up frustrated with the time it takes and hitting "GO". I look at the topics and the strategy and knowledge you guys put into the game is admirable and short of amazing. How do you guys keep the patience, and how do you think of the strategies. It seems no matter how many topics i read on such interesting subjects, getting it to work successfully is impossible. I fail miserably in all attemps against the AI, hate to see a PBEM game. Just remember next time you guys play, i'm jealous. =\ -KOP

Hrmm i finally got the 3d revelator in the mail. I installed it right, did the generic drivers thing etc...yet it won't work on my viper! You can tell the software is workin for the most part. In game it splits up the images etc. BUT my glasses do nothing. (infrared btw.) I highly doubt it's the glasses batteries. I looked around the tech support, couldn't find much. One thing i did notice, however. When i'm in game, i can hit the * key on the numpad, and the graph won't come up. Anyone have any similar probs with it? -KOP

I'm also confused as to what type of vid card you need to run the revelator. I bought the revelator online a day or two ago, i check out the reviews, and they all say i need a elsa vid card. =\ It better work with my tnt2U or i'm gonna go crazy. -KOP

I doubt a poll would get CM very far. Cuz gaming sites would plug their game too, which would have more fans. Not to say that CM isn't game of the year material, however. I think if it's going to be game of the year, it'll have to be made by the reviewers of the site\mag themselves and not to rely on polls. Cuz most fanboys don't even have anything in their field of vision beyond the game they're currently worshipping. -KOP

Sure it would be bad to have to wait. but these people should also understand that it's out of their hands, and venting on the board gets them no where either. but i may be wrong? Is there anything BTS can do? -KOP

I'm very puzzled by the diablo2 frenzy goin on. Sure i'm gonna get the game asap and it will be fun. but i was a stress tester, and it's no big deal. It's pretty much just more diablo. Sure diablo is fun, but come on. It's not THIS big of a deal that ppl are gettin all this collectors edition crap. It's just a game for ppl who can't find anythign else to do. It trades slightly boring gameplay for long replayability. I still can see after a few months not even thinking about lookin at the game again. I guess it's cuz i can't stay excited by a game with so little depth. Little depth and shiny objects just don't attract me. =\ I think combat mission and Deus Ex are the only good games to have come out recently. Diablo2 won't count for much, cuz it isn't much. It's gonna be a painful wait for Halo, TF2, Tribes2, Hitman etc. -KOP

Why would BTS even reply to any "My game didn't come yet" post? It's totally rediculous. Ppl are acting like BTS is single handedly giving out the games. So if you want the truth, Steve couldn't get to your house. he told me when he stopped in for coffee after delivering my game. He's goin back out on the road afer he rests up tonight. Too true. If you look at it like the squad has 3 men, and the houses are cardboard boxes, then sure it's unrealistic. But if you understand what it's trying to represent, it's very realistic. If you want to see a 12 man squad dodging and a house full of rooms, it's not gonna happen. I shudder at the thought of that framerate hit. -KOP

Great job on the game guys. I'm extremely surprised at my liking of this game. I hate wargames. Love the concept, but find the strategy and such has a very dull outcome. After buying a couple close combat games just to take them back within weeks, this baby comes out. I like this game so much that i plug it to my friends. I NEVER plug games. This game is an exception. I've never seen effort from a team this small in my life. I didn't know it was financially possible for you guys to slave on this baby. I just hope you guys get the sales to make it all worth it. Great job guys, and i'm about to get 4 people to buy yer game. =) -KOP

Ok i was playing mission X,(don't want spoiler flames) and i came across a panther (methinks.) Now i shoot it with my sherman, 2 rounds bounce off it's upper hull and then it kills me. Now i go through 3 more tanks, coming from different angles, that just ricochet. I think i had about 10 ricochets off the upper hull be4 i finally hit the track. Ok now it can't move. Now it takes out my 4th tank. =\ My 5th tank comes into range, 2 ricochet, then the final one hits the gun. Does this happen often? I mean it was totally insane how a normal panther could take out about 5 of my veteran tanks. You'd think the ricochet would do a lil more damage. Oh well, it ruined my day. -KOP

Woot i got my CM today =P And i had a terrible first mission. (no spoilers) Lets just say i went up against a panther tank, it rico'd 10(!!!) shots from my tanks. I mean it took out 5 of my tanks, while they just rico'd off of it's upper hull. So then at 10 shots, i take out it's tracks...yeah! Then 3 more roco's and i finally take it out. No offense, but that's kinda messed up. It was a normal crew and wiped out my elites like nothing. and i don't think it's supposed to ricochet from 5 different angles. oh well, my battles after that ruled. Regardless, that panther tank ruined my day. -KOP

Yepper. I think the tomb raider series was horrid. To even think about putting such a bad character in CM is terrible. I think that game wouldn't have sold if it's target audience wasn't a bunch of pimply teenagers, who are toying with masturbation. -KOP

Jonp i'm right there with ya. I had no idea about anything. Just play a few PBEM games with the gold demo\full game. You will very slowly understand what's going on. I still have relatively no idea as to the difference in the tanks etc. And once my game comes with 126 unit types.../me scratches my head. -KOP

Hmm...Ok i'm an unbiased person, cuz i don't play wargames until now. I heard good things about close combat, but upon trying it it blew. I even bought the CC4, and brought it back in 3 days. I played the demo of CM, instantly hooked. I think that CM will be much more tactics heavy cuz you have time to think up stuff. I think this game is more technical and would please a hardcore gamer. yet it's also turn based which can please ppl who are busy a lot. I don't see any valid points as to way close combat is better. I see fanboys, that's about it. I just look at it like this: CM i liked, CC i hated. I tried both games unbiased so i'm not being a fanboy. Sorry for feeding the trolls, but i hate fanboys. These guys are almost as stubborn as the daikatana fans. Me: Hey guys the average score of daikatana is 3\10. DK Fans: Don't matter, they're just jumpin on the bandwagon. Sometimes ppl just gotta stop being devoted, and play what's better. If you guys want to keep your marriage with CC goin, fine. It's a shame that some of the fanboys from here flamed the CC forums. I wish ppl would understand that trolls aren't welcome anywhere. =) -KOP

Well i'm 19 and a newcomer to this board. The way i see it is like this. These guys have been here for god knows how long waiting for this game. Some have had this game preordered for over a year, and still stayed on this board. Think about it, you post here daily for over a year about a game you don't have. Now that the game's finally almost at their doorstep, i think they have the right to get excited. Regardless of age, if i spent this much time here, i'd be that happy too. =) -KOP

I can't be positive but i think this was discussed a couple days ago? I think the first answer was, yes infantry can be damaged. And the other answer is that no they don't cook off. -KOP
