  1. Well i was looking forward to the masquerade and got it on release. The game fairly dissapointed me. While the story is decent and the graphics are decent, i find the battling very very boring. Now while this is only a small part of the game it really annoys me. Everytime i see a room of a couple monsters and i roll my eyes, cuz i have to hack away boringly at these guys. I also find myself hating the puzzles. Very uninspiring. While it's good for an rpg, a must buy or a landmark rpg it is not IMO. I even know a couple ppl who bought it and brought it back. I think multiplayer would be worth keeping if you have friends into it. Welp hopefully deus ex will be much better, which comes out the 22nd. Looks much better IMO. We'll see tho. -KOP
  2. This is a game that just should never be copied. I promise to never copy it\ give it to anyone else. -KOP
  3. I have to agree that BTS needs to stop working on gameplay tweaks and put in squirrels and wine cellars. I'd buy the game just to see a squirrel in a wine cellar. If they implement this, the future of gaming is now. -KOP
  4. I am currently fighting a friend. He wiped out my tanks immediately in the first couple of turns. But my infantry in the woods came out and up close screwed the rest of his tanks. I thought i was defeated a turn before, but now we were on even ground. Haven't gotten a respond either. I talked to him about it and he says "sorry dude, i forgot all about it" then he goes and plays q3. bah. =\ I think every player should play as long as there's a possibility of winning. I would surrender if there was 0 chance of a turn around. But even if there was a tiny bit of chance, it's worth tryin. I personally find learning better, when i'm the one being owned. I think when you're losing, you have to think more, because your decisions are much more crucial. But that's just me. In every game i've played online in the past 4 years, there is always people who leave duels whining. A real man can say Good Luck, Nice Shot and Good Game. -KOP
  5. I'm just feeding all the info on this page like crazy. So i'd say in the course of a day i come here about 10 times. -KOP
  6. Heh loriak i was talkin more about boot_camp double gauss jumps, curve gauss jumps, ledge long jumps, Slope exploit lift up-type long jumps etc. =) Moriarty: Yes i firmly believe experience comes 100% from real opponents. All a AI player can do is get you comfortable with what units do\ what the level is like. I'm just too unaware of my units to have my ass handed to me now =) AKA: That'll safe my arse from tryin to be smooth and hidin behind somethin, thx bro. heh. =) -KOP
  7. First off, thanks for all the responses. It's great to see how willing you guys are to help. Definately the most giving community i have seen so far. Not a single 1337 trash talking bastard. =) But as for the game tactics, yes i find the game frustrating for me, because I'm not used to having to think so on the ball and inovatively. I guess I'm too used to stuff that takes a set formula, where the more you practice it , the better you are. this takes broad range of knowledge from how to set up yer guys, where to tell them to go, when to tell them to go, how to tell them to go. Add on to this the random variables such as fires etc and it gets frustrating. =) BUT, it adds so much more replayability that makes it all worth it. I will try to start thinking with my brain instead of my RTS\Quake brain. I can't hope to be amazingly good at this game, however, I can hope to get good enough not to be laughed at. =) I really hope that when this game catches on, these forums remain trash free as it is now. My respect and thanks goes to all of you. Keep up the tactics on the page, cuz you know i'll be readin them. Maybe some day I'll actually know enough to jump in. =) /me waits for a post about Half-Life\Quake1-3 jumping tricks. -KOP http://www.merc-guild.com
  8. First off, amazing. It's been a long time that i've posted a message and gotten a lot of intelligent posts. Am i dreaming? hmm. Welp as for the tactics, yeah right now i am just blind as a bat. A tank is a tank to me. infantry is infantry. Sadly until i get used to the game I'm gonna be treatin it like WWII Red Alert. Needless to say i'm gonna have to play the hell out of this be4 i can even think about gettin serious. Guess i'll pay more attention to the real world strategies posted on here. Thanks a lot guys. -KOP
  9. Now i see a lot of people discussing CM tactics like it was real life. However which would be more efficient in game? A) Learning tactics through rigorous in game play, or Learning real world tactics. I doubt studying up on all these old tactics would be really effective. Now while the game is very realistic...it still lacks much to use real tactics. But there are so many war nuts, it's hard for them not to treat it like a real war. =) So what would be the best for me to learn? Should i overexaggerate and act like it's a real war and hope i'll get favorable results. Or just freestyle trial and error in game? -KOP
  10. Well i know how i can plug the game. I'm the admin of a top5 gamers.com board that gets plenty of traffic from top half-life gamers. So far i've only gotten 4 people to bite, but those are only the ones who responded to the board\me. -KOP
  11. Hmm welp I really think this game will succeed. I mean ppl are bound to review it. We've seen great games come and not get recognized, but not of this scale. This is a game that should have a PlanetCombatMission months ago. This won't go ignored. I'm no gun freak so i don't even understand what half the units are, but if they have their own models, this game will be crazy. The game just feels solid and polished. The 2 levels in the demo just scream replayability, and if they take the same amt of time in the Full version, you can expect a large following. I have a good feeling this will be a milestone in wargames. Hopefully any game past this will be compared to this game alone. What gives me more comfort is the fans here. From what i've seen most of you are diehard war nuts. I mean if anyone can judge a game of this type, it's you guys. I think if it wasn't so realistic, you'd have a few little kids saying "they should put nukes in it...that would be kewl." but this has the most mature and picky following. So more power to the diehard fans, and the game makers. It's been a long time that i've felt hype for a game like this. I've been let down over and over by games that said to have all these features, yet didn't make it into the game in the end. If this game has everything it says it will, game of the year of 2000. /me has fingers crossed. -KOP www.merc-guild.com
  12. Very very nice! Preorder here i come. I'm also tryin to influence a good 20 ppl to buy this game. It's sad that i found the best wargame i have ever played on a small new article on bluesnews.com that the demo was out a few days ago. A game like this should have much more publicity and it's almost sad. I'll pass the word onto the FPS community however. Lets hope they make enough money to make CM2. -KOP
  13. He's not the only conver. I'm the type who loves the first person shooter scene and hates wargames (Close Combat-type games ruined the whole genre for me..no strategizing) So I got the demo out of boredom a few days ago and was amazed. The depth was incredible! Then i read all of your statements and now, it's a must buy. But be4 i preorder, when is the release date? I've searched but found no answers? Is it a set date or a "when it's done" deal? -KOP
