  5. When your 1st Computer was an Apple II and you have tried for years to avoid INTEL & MS (Ultimately Unsuccessfully) its hard NOT to think of it as the Dark Side [ March 07, 2007, 02:48 PM: Message edited by: jeffsmith ]
  6. Even though it lets me play CM I STILL feel like I am toying with the Dark Side
  7. I went with the FAT32 its nice to be able to see the XP volume from the Mac side (dumping PBEM files into the appropriate folder from the Mac e-mail is very useful) otherwise you cant see anything about the XP volume without booting into it (I am pretty sure) I dont want to have to reboot to work with the XP side Should Windoze get corrupted or you find you need something you saved in XP you can just grab it in the finder window EDIT: you cannot however see your Mac Drive on the XP side [ March 05, 2007, 07:49 PM: Message edited by: jeffsmith ]
  8. Ok Great Idea in the meantime we will just give them all, Your e-mail address
  9. I took the same Dual Boot plunge (24inch iMac) in December so you may be a chimp but you are a chimp AFTER me Bootcamp installed WinXP wery easily and everything works as advertised CMAK works well & my customized BMP/WAV folders transferred with no issues Welcome to the "Tree"
  10. I knew NW Europe was the generally accepted theatre But has this precise Area of Battle been stated before ? </font>

  12. I am a huge fan of WEGO as most of my games are PBEM but for smaller battles or TCP RT mode may be worth a try [ February 24, 2007, 10:11 AM: Message edited by: jeffsmith ]
  13. the only reason that I suggested a search was NOT to suggest you don't know what you are talking about But because BFC has Already explained about the graphics tradeoffs Having just brought Realtime into the CM code I think its unlikely they will abandon it for more graphics and you stated yourself that rts games give good framerates but Without the under the hood detail that make a BFC game the day they sub-out coding work will arrive someday (they have said it could happen in certain situations) but i dont expect it to be any time soon however they have surprised us before and we all WILL someday have Brilliant Games with the Best graphics when the "Computer Budget" allows it (10 Ghz systems with 7 Megs of Ram & 2 Gig of video ram) adding smiley because its an International Symbol [ February 18, 2007, 12:23 PM: Message edited by: jeffsmith ]
  14. Not the case In Gaming their is a limited "Budget" of computing power FPS games have plenty of computing power to spare for visuals Games like CM use that computing power to make accurate & complex simulations possible there is more going on in a single CM turn that in many entire FPS games So its not the BFC team that isn't up to making a good 3d engine (I'd say there are few better than BFC in true 3d not just eye candy) BFC prioritizes Gameplay and Realism over eye candy within the limitations of the computing power Budget don't believe me? Try a search on the subject (of course the views expressed in this post are my own and do not necessarily represent the views of BFC) [ February 18, 2007, 10:40 AM: Message edited by: jeffsmith ]
  15. OK another $0.02 BFC has a single coder they are in most likelyhood NOT about to invest in anyone elses software solutions and they are going to do things the way they see is Best for them and their customers They know our wishes Re Mac porting and have responded very warmly and openly BFC's track record for working with their customer base is simply unequaled So... Posting alternate software solutions and reports and statistics about Mac trends while helpful info Probably is not going to sway their decision process in any appreciable way
  16. In most CM battles by good designers the action is so focussed I never have taken any thought of the edge at all (except in exit scenarios)
  17. Steve Thanx for responding and not being exasperated with us I can understand not wanting to freeze out PPC Mac owners However this is where MY main question lies and its sort of technical (without the details) If you there WAS the option of a Mac/Intel only version would THAT version also have to be coded from scratch? 18. Having made the switch to an Intel Mac and dual booting with BootCamp/WinXP to play games (Most importantly CMAK) I still would like to see an OSX/Intel native version of CMSF Not knowing the real breakdown I see the options as this regarding a Mac Version of CMSF (and later releases) PC/Intel only no extra work (BootCamp) Mac/Intel OSX Native (?)% extra work Mac/PPC&Intel prohibitive amount of extra work Please enlighten me further
  19. Once Again Madmatt is correct (is there ever any question?) the camera contols (and some other features) of Distant Guns do leave a bit to be desired and of course its no CM But if you can deal with some limitations and are looking for a Naval Simulation I think it can be an enjoyable game
  20. check out this old thread from the General Forum the game isn't WWI or WWII but they are working on some new things General Forum thread
  21. OK next question if there are no civilians/truly civilian vehicles then the american player can/will assume ALL vehicles are hostile ?
