  1. MH; with regards, I hardly think that L'etranger is representative of the philosophical dichotomy that exists with regard to piracy. IF taken as an example of Existentialism, Camus is not one to look to for explications of right and wrong (think The Fall and The Plague). Perhaps one should turn to Immanuel Kant for this? In any event, I think pirates should be executed. regards. 5m
  2. Germanboy; myself, I will wait for tcp/ip to be implemented. No rant nor ravings on my part, just patience. Btw, I did buy the 25 yr old Macallan's. Pocketbook says ouch!!!! I'm going to crack it this weekend, and then I'll post a review in the tipples thread. 5m
  3. Haven't had the problem since I don't have the full game, but I think that simple honesty would work. In any event, she's hooked on some games as well (Magic: The Gathering), so as long as the 'Sauce for the goose' parable holds, I figure I won't have a problem. The worst that ever tends to happen by the computer is a few extra calories between the beer/scotch/pizza/indian food. In short, no problem really 5m
  4. Germanboy: re harshness of high proof alcohols. I agree with you, although until my palate became semi educated, I really could *NOT* understand why Talisker was recommended to me. I actually gave away my first bottle, considering it rather undrinkable. 1/2 a year later and many scotches since I found it rather mellow. I guess I'm hooked on the Islays now. Have you tried the 25 yr old Macallans by chance, and is it any good? I've been staring at a bottle for the better part of a month, and am trying to decide if I should spend the $. 5m
  5. Re: Jack Daniels- not bad to start out on, as far as Bourbons go and thats what I did. You could also try Wild Turkey if you like phenolics, but for a step up in quality give Bookers a shot (126 proof). It's loaded with vanilla and sherryish overtones. Phenomenal aroma. Maker's Mark is also quite good. I never met a bourbon I didn't like actually. And if I'm in the moood for a cocktail, I go for a JD and coke. The single barrel bourbons are dfinately picking up in popularity (and price unfortunately). 5m
  6. I haven't bought the game yet, but it seems to me as if one thing is missing in this discussion (and please feel free to correct me if I am wrong); namely that unless the Tac AI is coded to use specific ignore orders (or whatever solution people are proposing) it becomes dumber by default by virtue of a human player gaining that much extra control over the program. In the Talonsoft games West/East Front and Rising Sun, an optional rule allowed the use of armour facings by human players, BUT the computer would tend to ignore this. Resulting in an apparently dumber AI. I'd submit that no one would want Combat Mission to appear dumber. Unless any proposed solution would affect the Tac AI AND the human player equally, I would say don't bother (again, keeping in mind that I do not have the game). 5m
  7. There is nothing wrong with Canada Customs; the delay is due to the inability of the ©onservative ®eform (A)lliance (P)arty to elect a leader in a timely fashion. Now, to the rest of the world; yes they really were called that. Don't know what they're called now, except that they hope to form the offical opposition and eventual government. Canada; where an election may be called any damn time the government feels like. 5m

  9. subject says it all. just curious to see what kind of accolades build up. 5m
  10. I'll echo the sentiments on the Aureal Superquad 2500. Dual speaker and digital outputs giving me quite spiffy sound on the gold demo and other games. I've got the front channel hooked up to my home stereo and the rear channel hooked up to some Altec 3 speaker system (2 sats, 1 sub). The sats I have hanging on the wall behind me. Aureal is currently refiling under chapter 11, and I picked up my card OEM for $76 Cdn (about $55 US). 5m
  11. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by CrapGame: So, last night, I enjoyed my first snifter of Talisker as I played Chance Encounter on the full game. Not only was the sound and visual effects stunning, but the Talisker is such a smoky scotch that I could smell the battle as well. It really doesn't get any bettet than this. good night all. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Crapgame; if you can possibly find it, and if your pocketbook can stand the strain, try the Talisker Distiller's edition. A tad peatier. The 12 yr old Bowmore is also quite nice 5m
  12. Peng; Laphroaig it is IF it is smoke that you want. The joke in the store that I buy it from is that if you open up the sampler bottle (big smile on my part) the smoke alarm goes off. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that Laphroaig uses 100% peat smoked malt in the brewing/distilling process. If you pour a shot in a brandy glass, and swirl it around slightly to warm up from your hand temperature, you'll quickly have that 'campfire' smell wafting up. 5m
  13. I have the following sitting 4 feet away from me: -Laphroaig (love the smokiness) -Talisker distiller's edition (16 yr old) -Bowmore -Cardhu (a bit light for my taste) -Lagavulin (almost empty) -Balvenie They're all single malts, which I think the epitomy of the distiller's art. However, there are a few blends that I like, such as Teacher's Cream or Black and White. But, I specifically like them for the smoke attributes. How consumed? Straight up in a brandy snifter. I also have a bottle of Bookers single barrel bourbon, but at 63% abv, I found it conducive to extreme heartburn. Although it did have some serious vanilla, port and currant overtones. One of these days I'm gonna get me a 25 yr old bottle of Macallan's. 5m
  14. Adding finely ground sodium perchlorate and ammonium nitrate to liquid petrolatum, and molding it in the shape of William Jefferson Clinton figurines and mailing them to people I don't like? fm

  16. It's over. Seriously, go to the library and do your own work. Don't rely on others. Trust no one. 5m
  17. Steel Panthers: Word At War -turn based -squad level/individual vehicle/gun -approx. 10 minutes per turn -50 m per hex -1930-1949 -most if not all of the major nations in WW2(Germany, Russia, Britan, Japan, US), plus minor powers -Win32 based executable -Igo Ugo system -pbem'able -2 player internetable The program is free and will be available as a download and on several gaming mag demo CD's. It will NOT require ownership of any other Steel Panthers game to play. The caveat is the HUGE size of the download. I'm guessing at least 300 Mb 5m
  18. While I want to keep the 'auto surrender' feature in the game, it would be nice to be able to toggle it off if BOTH human players want. If this is already in the game, my stupid. SSPZL: I've played many ladder games, and both myself and my opponents have played some games out well past a losing point just to see what would happen, so I guess I agree with you. And after all, it is a game, so if the players want it, we should have it. But I fear we are in a minority here 5m
  19. And I'm drinking Green Devils (Nyquil, Vodka and 7-Up). I saw God 5 minutes ago. 5m
  20. At 1 milligram/ ml, 50 ul is what is required for a standard efficacious dose of LSD25 according to Remington's Pharmaceutical Science, assuming 100% purity. 5m
  21. Pre ordered: No (waiting for the gold demo) Copy: For backup puurposes YES Distribute, download or upload: NO In the end though, I really don't care what others think, if I buy, I'm gonna back up, and no one will stop me or convince me otherwise. 5m
  22. The effectiveness of Zyklon-B on eliminating inferior humans is thus an acceptable topic for discussion on this board by virtue of your standards OB&G. Give it up already. *You've* got a bee in your bonnet because you were chided re: your posting on a private forum, Remember, what goes is what is allowed on a piece of private property. Why not drop it? The choir is over here. 5m
  23. Send the whelp back to Cuba. He's probably a Communist spy. 5m
  24. Give it a break OB&G. You haven't proved nor shown anything least of all some putative superiority in either fun or realism on the part of CM .vs. SP. 5m
  25. Download a program called Hypersnap Dx Pro, register it, and then use it. fm
