Well the turns are resolved in "movies". Rated PG-13 for marginal violent content. Lewis -

quote:
Originally posted by CEO: Anyway, to steer this thread back to topic, my vote is for Fionn to win and that other person to lose.

We will see but obviously not too soon. Given Fionns experience with the games development, He is really setting himself up for an embarressment if he loses. I will have to look out for "potato masher" grenade attacks especially since he has demanded that he be the Germans. Lewis

Is UL really not-for-profit? What about bribes? Only kidding. Whats the difference between UL approved and recognized? I would guess one is testing and the other means you are within some guidelines? Lewis

In Final version can you dig in StuG?
Username replied to killmore's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Steve I have read of germans improving positions for armor. Steel Inferno comes to mind. Light skinned armor like Marders and such would really benefit I would assume. Improving a position entails alot of things. Clearing lanes of fire, digging in or fortifying, camoflauge, setting up alternate positions, measuring ranges, etc. All of which is perhaps hard to bring into the game. Lewis -
could you fix my walkman?

Ive used an ACE to prepare whats called an improved firing position. Basically you dig it so the tank can be "track-down" from the sides and hull down from the front. The tank can easily reverse out the back. In WWII there were tankdozers in the US Army, I dont know about others. Lewis -
While Walt is correct that a large portion of most modern armies are non-combattants, its also valid what mch is saying. Or I have read similar accounts. Small knots of guys in an outfit who have lost buddies or just like taking out the enemy for whatever reason. Most people are bad shots on a firing range. Throw in the explosions , yelling, screaming in a battle and they might not fire at all. They can hopefully suppress a position. Other guys are killing machines. I guess it depends on the unit also. The more elite, the more the killers in the outfit. Lewis

I dont know if its that great but I liked the Atomic Gold/Juno/Sword games. I thought they were way ahead of the times. I liked the supply distribution and the simultaneous combat resolution. Lewis -

My guess is the update will go from: "It will be releases when its ready" To: "It will be released when its ready and has potato masher hand grenades" Lewis -

I am just suggesting fair rules, not picking scenarios. Where did I say that I didn't want to play the Gold. Evenly balanced scenarios are sometimes a subjective call. Perhaps there will be a short one and you can take the time to let the other guy play the Germans. Looking forward to it. Let me get a few Gold games in first or is that too fair for you also? Lewis PS Whats coming at the end of March?
-
Since Fionn has thrown down the challenge and I have accepted, I propose that an evenly balanced scenario be chosen. The scenario will be played twice. The players will switch sides allowing them to negate any advantage. Total points will decide the winner. Lewis PS Fionn mentioned soemthing coming at the end of March, what could it be? April fools day?

In closing I would just like to say that the "potato masher" hand grenade was a logistical mistake by the Germans. The amount of space needed to ship the grenades in crates was a waste. Any advantage given by throwing it further was offset by this. Lewis PS As a half an Irishman I do like the "potato" masher name. Perhaps thats why Fionn got so excited. -
You left out: Will there be stick hand grenades? Lewis

I once spent six weeks of around the clock effort trying to find and fix one bug. In desperation I even tried completely rewriting all the routines that could possibly of had anything to do with the problem. Nothing helped. Once I finally found the bug it turned out to be a single character typo in a single line - I used '*' where I should of had '**'. I had probaably looked at that line dozens of time and even retyped it several times but the typo just didn't register. Well heres what I do. I edit backwards. I literally read the code in reverse to put it in a different light. Dont laugh it works. Never work frustrated or for long hours. Its diminishing returns. Keep it light inside and try meditation. Always remember, its what you did, not the computer. To see with a still being is to really apreciate what is right and what is wrong. Lewis -

quote:
Originally posted by Fionn: Lewis, Lastly, Lewis, when the Gold comes out I'd take great pleasure in crushing you publicly. Here's the deal... When the Gold comes out will you commit to playing a PBEM game with turns and AARs to be posted publicly as we play? That way you get a chance to prove your prowess and humiliate me publicly .

I accept your challenge. In true Howard Stern fashion I have squeezed the shoes of too many self obsorbed peoples for one day. I am a New Yorker at heart and an Irishmen to boot. You all slay me with your pathos and verbiage. I expected better from you Fionn but maybe theres some personal toes I have stepped on. An Irishman that isnt man enough to accept an apology needs a good beat down. Get the "Gold" in my hands and I will teach you what cunning, wherewithall, heart, and sheer will and mind can do. In closing I will quote a famous woman "**** you if you can't take a joke" -Divine Miss M Lewis -

quote:
Originally posted by Maus: Lewis --- I don't know why you do this... Why bring up outdated and offensive stereotypes? There is no reason for Fionn to take all this **** about being Irish. I completely understand why he or anyone would react so strongly to these types of statements. I feel sorry for you....... maus [This message has been edited by Maus (edited 03-24-2000).]

Well I am half irish and that is not considered an insult amongst my irish friends.
